This latest order represents the next step toward broader fielding of the SMASH fire control systems across the Marine Corps

The Marine Corps is procuring SMASH 2000L as an interim capability to address its urgent requirement for dismounted Counter-small-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-sUAS) solutions. The USMC gained hands-on experience with the system through earlier testing, and this latest order represents the next step towards full adoption across the entire Marine Corps.

Initially tested and selected by the U.S. Joint Counter-small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Office (JCO) and the Irregular Warfare Technical Support Directorate (IWTSD) (formally known as the Counter-Terrorism Technical Support Office) as the kinetic solution for squad-level counter-drone missions, the SMASH system continues to gain traction across multiple branches of the U.S. military. It has already been fielded by U.S. Special Forces, the Marine Corps, and several NATO allies.

I wonder, has there been any further updates or info on the Zeromark FCS moving stock, that the Marines were trialing out last year for a counter-UAS role? Would combining the SMASH200L sight with the Zeromark moving stock on the one rifle, be even more effective against UAS compared to just the one system?
Mind you, the real problem is *detecting* FPV or very small drones in time to take action: they’re very, very fast & hard to see visually before they’re right on top of you. Maybe having a 3D audio signal (as used in some fighter pilot missile warning & evasion systems) that integrates with active hearing protection, which detects common FPV/drone signals and triggers a 3D audio warning when the signals hit a certain threshold? It’d be a very last ditch effort, but hopefully enough to a) orientate to where the drones are & b) give just enough warning to take cover, know where exactly to quickly aim your SMASH sights, anti-drone shotgun, etc.
I know fibre optic guided FPV drones make this idea obsolete, but not every single FPV drone is fibre optic guided *yet*. It’d be something you could roll out to every Marine or soldier fairly quickly. I can’t think of anything that could be issued at a *squad* level to realistically help *FPV DETECTION*, other than “Keep your eyes and ears peeled, there’s been numerous radar contacts & casualties in this area from very small drones.
