Bradford Dyeing Association to Close

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Bradford Dyeing announced on 25 September that they would close in two months due to a dispute with the Defense Logistics Agency over shading issues on the Airman Battle Uniform. Ironically the Air Force relies Bradford for all of its Digital Tigerstripe material. Bradford also supplies a large percentage of the Berry compliant textiles used by the US military and its closure will be a blow to a American textile industry already over stressed with supporting the military. Bradford has endured a recent fire, union issues, as well as the same issues every small business is facing with overall state of the economy, but the DLA dispute was the final factor. Unfortunately, Bradford Dyeing representatives have been unavailable for comment.

There is an excellent article in the Westerly Sun with more information.

Writing for Soldier Systems Blog

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

If you want to write for Soldier Systems Blog its pretty simple. Just contact the Editor with your article idea. Seriously, that’s all you have to do. Generally, we want an article that is a couple of paragraphs long and answers the basic who, what, where, when, why, and how. Pictures are also helpful but make sure you have the permission of the owners. We are happy to give you a by-line but since thus far, this is a non-wealth generating pursuit, there will be no payment. However, so far everyone has wanted to keep it anonymous. One caveat for vendors, we will happily post press releases but the impact is much greater if someone checks out your product and writes an article on it.

Interested parties can contact Soldier Systems Blog at admin@soldiersystems.net.

Mayflower Research and Consulting, LLC Splash Page Up

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Mayflower Research and Consulting has been the subject of several articles on Soldier Systems Blog. You can find them here. Mayflower tends to keep a low profile and in respect of that, we don’t post nearly enough about what they are up to. However, sufficed to say, they are working on a commercial line. In our last article on Mayflower (13 Sept 08) we claimed that their ecommerce site would be up in four weeks. Looks like we were pretty close.

The website is here. Check it regularly.
