Blade Show West 18 – OOAK Forge Aluminum Straight Shooter Slingshot

Saturday, October 6th, 2018

One of the cool things about Blade Show is the creativity of the makers. Take for example this slingshot.

Made from aircraft aluminum with a rubber band, it’s compact enough to fit into the palm of your hand or back pocket. It will even tuck into PALS webbing.

Available in Gold, Purple, Black, Red, and Raw Aluminum.

Blade Show West 18 – Gerber Flatiron

Saturday, October 6th, 2018

I really like the Flatiron’s cleaver design. It features a 3.6″ blade paired with a textured G-10 composite handle. Well, I guess I should clarify. The scale on the side with the lock, is aluminum. The other one is G10.

You’ll notice the extra plate beside the lock. That’s to keep a tight grip from indexing the lock during opening and slowing it preventing a complete opening to full lock.

Details:
? Full length: 8.5″
? Blade length: 3.8″
? Blade steel: 7Cr17MoV
? Cleaver style, satin finish blade
? Thumb hole for one-hand opening
? G-10 composite handle scales
? Frame lock
? Pocket clip

The AEGIS Pocket Survival Kit by Fire Water Survival

Friday, June 15th, 2018

At Blade Show I met Craig Tonelli, owner of Fire Water Survival. He was showing the AEGIS Pocket Survival Kit, which boasts a rather unique combination of components.

When you first see it, it looks common enough, what with the 12 foot of 550 cord wrapping. But once you remove that, you expose what appears to be a metal capsule.

Turns out, it’s a collapsible metal cup which also stores the other components. In addition to the cordage and water purification capability, it also contains fishing kit, fire starter and cutting tool.

There is a larger kit named the Chief which is based on the same concept but with more of it.

Blade Show 18 – Brous Blades MFCEO

Monday, June 4th, 2018

If you recognize the initials MFCEO, then you’ll immediately realize who Brous Blades made this knife for.

33680371-FF95-4969-B04F-22CDDDB41242

If not, that’s the moniker James Yeager goes by. He liked the style of the TDI, but was looking for a knife that filled out the hand a bit more, so Jason Brous machined the G10 handle swells to fit the hand perfectly in a forward or reverse grip.

The blade is D2 Steel and it comes with a Kydex sheath by NSR Tactical.

Also available in an aluminum trainer version.
