Task Force Dagger is Now Doing Business as Task Force Dagger Special Operations Foundation

Wednesday, October 21st, 2020

As of October 16, 2020, Task Force Dagger Foundation is doing business as Task Force Dagger Special Operations Foundation. The decision to update the name of the organization to include Special Operations was made to reinforce the commitment to the Special Operations Forces (SOF) community. Since 2009, Task Force Dagger Foundation has been a reliable resource for SOCOM and has provided more than $6.5 million in support to 3,600 families. The organization will continue to provide assistance to wounded, ill and injured SOF service members and their families through its three core programs: Immediate Needs, Rehabilitative Adaptive Events and the TFDSOF Health Initiatives. The rebranding includes an updated website and logo to reflect the new name. Visit the new website here www.taskforcedagger.org

This year has been a difficult year for many nonprofits, and Task Force Dagger Special Operations Foundation is no exception. As the need to support the SOF community continues, TFDSOF is seeking year-end contributions and recurring monthly donors so they may continue to assist SOF families as Task Force Dagger Special Operations Foundation.

To become a donor, contact TFDSOF Executive Director, Alan Williams at alan.williams@taskforcedagger.org or donate on their website www.taskforcedagger.org

Win a Mk13 Mod 7 USMC – Scout Sniper Association 2020 Raffle

Tuesday, September 8th, 2020

The USMC Scout Sniper Association raffle continues, but time is running out to get in on it. There are five (5) weeks remaining. Although the annual Gathering of Snipers (2020) was canceled, the raffle was not. That means you still have the opportunity to win an MK13 Mod 7 (the USMC variant of the SOCOM rifle) with all the accessories and accompanying prizes or a HogTooth knife. All pertinent firearm laws apply, of course.

MK13 Mod 7

In April 2018, the US Marine Corps announced it would field a USMC-specific version of SOCOM’s MK13 Mod 7 Sniper Rifle manufactured at NSWC Crane. While the M40A6 is being retained for use in training and as an alternate platform, the MK13 Mod 7 has operationally replaced the venerable M40 series rifles as the primary sniper rifle for the Corps. The M40 series saw service with the Corps in several variations starting in 1966. Scout Snipers are now carrying the MK13 Mod 7 in every clime and place, throughout the Global War on Terror and in other hot spots around the globe.

SSA Mk13 Prize Rifle

The rifle you could win in this giveaway was donated through the generosity of SSA Member Ryan Niederman and Friend of the SSA Jarret Guill. Components were carefully sourced to produce as authentic a clone of the military-issued firearm as is humanly possible, some manufactured on Marine Corps contract production runs. In addition, generous donations were made by the following industry partners to ensure an authentic build:

• Nightforce – Mil-Spec scope
• Geisselle Automatics – Mil-Spec trigger
• Surefire – Certificate for Mil-Spec suppressor
• LaRue Tactical – Mil-Spec QD scope mount
• MagPul Industries – Eight magazines
• Harris Engineering – Mil-Spec bipod
• VTAC – Mil-Spec sling

As the SSA explains,

“The lucky winner of this special, very complete rifle package will own a historic piece of the legacy built with the blood, sweat and tears of US Marine Corps Scout Snipers.”

Shelane’s Run – A Virtual Event 17-31 Oct 2020 to Raise Awareness and Funds for Maternal Mental Health

Tuesday, September 8th, 2020

The mission of Shelane’s Run is to spread awareness, promote programs that offer postpartum support and resources, and to encourage women and their families to reach out for help. The goal is to establish and offer grants to families that may not be able to afford the treatment they truly need and deserve.

Shelane was a Fairfax County Detective and her husband is FFX PD as well. She tragically ended her life in June 2015 while suffering postpartum depression following a miscarriage. Shelane’s friends and family created a 5K Run/Walk and Kids 1K Fun Run in her honor to memorialize her love and commitment to her family, community, and running. Shelane’s Run is the ONLY road race in Virginia focused on maternal mental health.

Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) are the most common complication for pregnant and postpartum women. PMADs do not discriminate and now, as we’re in the midst of isolation and higher levels of stress, we’re seeing more women reach out, needing help. This is where industry can lend a hand.

They are looking for sponsors to help us maximize how we are able to help so many deserving women. To give you an idea, this is what your money could help them do:

$5,000 – Give 1 woman a stay at a treatment facility

$2,500 – Allows 25 women several emergency therapy sessions

$1,000 – Allows many women to breathe, knowing some daily expenses are being looked after (such as food for her family, diapers, a hospital bill, etc.)

This money pays for transportation to and from counseling sessions, doctors appointments, the chance to go to the grocery store to pick up food for her children… Every single dollar is stretched to the maximum so that they are able to help as many women across the state of Virginia as possible.

Mental health resources are a luxury, and they shouldn’t be.

VSSL Java

Tuesday, August 18th, 2020

VSSL has just launched their Java Kickstarter campaign for a compact, hand cranked coffee grinder. That’s right, a coffee grinder. Sure, they’re well known for their first-aid and survival kits, but once you get the basics covered it’s time for living, and nothing says loving more than a fresh brewed cup of coffee.

Like every other VSSL product, Java is encased in an aircraft grade aluminum tube. They’ve created a novel means to grind the beans. Their clip and flip carabiner converts to a grinder handle. And this isn’t some simple coffee grinder. This stainless steel burr grinder has 30 unique settings, so you’ll get your grinds just how you want them.
