SOFIC 2014 – SOG Specialty Knives & Tools

Wednesday, May 21st, 2014

SOG has updated the popular Trident folder with an additional model called the Trident Elite. While the original is still available, SOG answered customer requests by adding a glass breaker, introducing co-molded rubber on the handle for an enhanced grip and upgraded the spring to the SAT 2.0 flat spring technology. This new spring consists of a wound flat bar making it the fastest spring they have.

TORIS – TROIKA Knife

Wednesday, May 7th, 2014

20140507-001856.jpg

Developed by Meynard Ancheta of Kali Dynamics with input from Torin Hill of TORIS and made by knife maker Jeff Crowner, the TROIKA is a purpose-built fighting knife intended as an improvement of point-first knives such as the Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife.

The blade is designed for rapid-penetration/rapid-release, made from CPM 3V steel with Crowner Heat Treatment. The grip, which consists of hand-filed G10 scales, is designed with a neutral shape for style-agnostic use: “point up/down, blade forward/reversed… TROIKA don’t care.”

The TROIKA comes with a TORIS draw-driven Kydex sheath and color matched aluminum trainer knife.

The TROIKA G10 scales come in Graphite, Olive Drab, Coyote, and Black. The trainer G10 scales come in Red, Politician Red, Blueblack, and Politician Blueblack. Mounting options include a belt clip, brass studs, mini Tek-Lok, or Bawidamann small PUP.

Made in America, assembled by Veterans.

American Kami Introduces Colubris II Line and a Surprise

Tuesday, May 6th, 2014

I must admit that I have been somewhat remiss in sharing this news, so I apologize. I actually found out about this during last month’s USASOC Sniper Competition and told American Kami’s DJ Urbanovski that I would share this with my readers. I’m holding up my promise, but I’m late. However, the info is just as cool today as it was when I first learned of it.

As you may recall, American Kami has collaborated with Böker to transition the original, fixed blade, Colubris design into a production model. Last Fall, DJ started working on the next iteration of the design which is now known as the Colubris II.

20140505-195043.jpg

Just like the original, the new Colubris II will feature CPM S35VN with a tumble over heat treat finish and G10 scales. There are three models; the N for Nano, the S for Small and the M which is Medium and a direct replacement for the original model.

Additionally, you can see the GTFO knife. It too is crafted from S35VN and offers more alternative force applications than other daggers. It incorporates an ‘almost civilian legal everywhere’ sub-3″ blade and can be used as a utility knife as well. Mount may also notice the “spur” in the ring handle.

DJ builds one heck of a knife meaning they are quite popular and difficult to find. If you are serious about getting one of his knives or axes, I suggest contacting him through his website. He’s a very humble guy, easy to work with, and will get you on a waiting list.

DSC_1103

Designed in conjunction with Steve Hacht and Bryce Grey, the Bawadimin Knives Skeletonized Karambit features a paracord friendly handle although it does not come wrapped, and must be customized by the user. Heavy chamfers on the Karambit allow for increased comfortability. Machined from CRU-WEAR steel, the Karambit features a hardness of 61-63 on the Rockwell scale.

The Skeletonized Karambit comes with a custom conceal carry sheath. It’s a great new design to go with an outstanding knife. The integrated ST801 PUP nylon backstraps features a “pull the dot” snap, and allows the sheath to mount securely to a belt, right up against the body.

Available in Forest Green, Black, Bronze, and Tungsten.
