Chris Irwin Joins Kill Cliff As President

Friday, June 7th, 2013

ChrisIrwin

Former U.S. Navy SEAL officer Chris Irwin has recently joined Kill Cliff as President of the company. Irwin, who has 16 years of military service in addition to his experience as a civilian executive running his own company, also graduated from the United States Naval Academy. Fun fact: he also happens to be related to the late Steve Irwin.

In addition to hiring a new president, Kill Cliff has launched a new advertising campaign and a new website. Commercials can be heard on XMSirius Satellite Radio on the ESPN and CNBC stations, and seen by Comcast subscribers in the Southeast on Discovery Channel during Deadliest Catch and spots during Atlanta Braves games.

Kill Cliff is available through a variety of tactical outlets.

Recoil Issue 7 In Stores Now

Friday, June 7th, 2013

Recoil issue 7 is now in stores. With new editor Iain Harrison on board, the magazine maintains the high quality seen in previous issues. This issue features articles on Patriot Ordnance Factory P308, the Sphinx SDP compact pistol, the Tactical Solutions .22 conversion kit for Glock 17/22 and 19/23, assisted-opening knives, and plenty more. All this, plus a bonus ‘toy robot’ shooting target.

Recoil

Recoil Editor Harrison came on board last issue and is a former British Armor Officer who emigrated to the US due to his support of the right to bear arms. You may remember him from Top Shot where he was winner. They’ve certainly done a lot to overcome the anti-2A perception that they suffered last summer. For example, the last issue discussed different NFA firearms.

They’ve also added Dave Reeder as a contributor. He brings a great deal of military and LE experience to their online staff. Learn more about Dave’s new assignment here.

The Gun Feed – Because Why Actually Create Something When You Can Just Use Other People’s Work?

Sunday, May 12th, 2013

Ok, I get it. It’s easy for the reader. You go one place and get links to everybody’s stuff. But from my perspective it’s a bit different. I actually write some of the articles aggregators link to. Rarely do they even acknowledge it’s my link. Besides, there’s already a pretty good one of these out there for the shooting community. For the guys who create an aggregator it’s a simple decision. Why bust your hump writing articles everyday when you can just sit back and provide links to everyone else’s hard work and then sell advertising for it? Sounds like a good deal to me. Maybe, I’ll start one. At any rate, that’s the business plan for The Gun Feed, a new parasitic news aggregator. Here’s their press release.

Introducing The Gun Feed – Its like The Drudge Report for guns!

The Gun Feed is a new Drudge Report style news website that has just been launched. The Gun Feed is a 24/7 news website that is proudly devoted to the online firearms community, and that showcases the latest firearms news headlines from around the web. The website will be updated many times throughout the day, everyday and it will feature news links to articles on the second amendment, firearms related politics, guns and gear reviews, new product releases, blogger opinions and commentary, and anything else which comes along that might be of interest to Gunnies.

So go check it out… The website is now officially up and running and the first batch of headlines are now on the website to see. Bookmark it, make it your homepage, and visit back often because it will be getting regular updates from here on out.

BTW – It has a dedicated mobile page too so it works great on mobile devices… No app yet, but it is coming.

GI Joe 2 – Remember, It’s Just a Movie

Thursday, March 28th, 2013

Let’s face it. Movies like “GI Joe” are gear porn for your eye holes. Our favorite moments are often Schwarzenegger gearing up in ‘Commando’ or Lee Marvin kicking some Nazi ass in ‘The Dirty Dozen’. So lower your guard for an evening and enjoy some explosions and exotic firearms with the added bonus of laughing on the inside (or maybe the outside) at what promises to be some very tactically appropriate one-liners.

GI Joe 2

It was no surprise to me to hear that our friends at Tactical Pro Shop, LLC. had again been involved with outfitting the GI Joe team. And, like an unscrupulous arms dealer playing both sides, they outfitted the Cobra troops as well.

“Our involvement usually starts with a phone call giving us the broad strokes like ‘were going to be in the desert’, and we round up coolest looking, or technically accurate, apparel and gear to fit those parameters,” related Tactical Pro Shop’s Matt Kime. He went on to say, “We are extremely fortunate to have earned the trust of the separate departments that are involved with the apparel and gear. And the Directors and Tech Advisors appreciate that our day job is outfitting the real-life versions of the characters they are depicting.”

“We treat our film projects with the same degree of confidentiality that we extend our Military and LE customers. In most cases, I avoid specific story details as much as possible, so I can enjoy actually watching the movie.”

Matt is particularly impressed with Ray Park’s depiction of Snake Eyes, 12 year old’s personnel hero, “I was fortunate to be able to visit the set in Louisiana for the filming of one of the final sequences of the movie, and the characters look amazing. The Snake-Eyes suit in this film is the truest to the character it has ever been. We did not have anything to do with the suit, but he does use some custom pieces we made pretty extensively.”

Matt told us to keep our eyes peeled for some custom pieces from Aker Leather, Blade-Tech, Viking Tactics, Yates, Line Of Fire, and a BUNCH more.

Go see GI Joe 2 and remember, it’s just a movie.
