To Watermark or Not to Watermark?

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

What is the deal with every website on the face of the earth putting their craptastic watermark on every photo they publish? Fine, if you style yourself a photographer and actually took the photo, I get it. But if the photo came from a public source, or a vendor, or actually belongs to someone else, I have to say, “wtf?”. I’ve even seen multiple watermarks on the same photos.

Its starting to encroach on the tactical industry. What do you guys think? Has watermarking gone too far?

SWAT Magazine Goes Back to its Roots

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

Anyone who remembers the SWAT magazine of the 80s will recall that the name at the time was ‘Survival Weapons and Tactics.’ With this newest issue, hitting newsstands now, they are going back to that name in honor of the heritage of the magazine but also relevancy. The times today are quite similar to the times that spawned the monthly in the first place, and their current content is very much aimed at the prepared American.

How to Archer: The Ultimate Guide to Espionage and Style and Women and Also Cocktails Ever Written

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

Master Spy Sterling Archer has a new how-to guide that will be available just in time for SHOT Show entitled “How to Archer: The Ultimate Guide to Espionage and Style and Women and Also Cocktails Ever Written.”

Archer describes the contents so, “What other book will teach you how to dress properly and how to drive an elephant? How to field strip an AK-47 and how to haggle with a Thai prostitute—in her native tongue? How to pilot an airboat and how to make about a million delicious cocktails, including a Molotov one? How to kill a guy and how to prepare a fabulous brunch? Plus how to do tons of other stuff that I forgot, but that is nonetheless probably in this book (which, to be honest, I really only kinda skimmed).

How could you pass up on this? Get yours January 17th, which also happens to the kick off day of SHOT Show.

Read BPRE Vol 2 For Free*

Monday, December 26th, 2011

If you have a Kindle, Amazon is offering Echelon Software’s “Black Powder Red Earth” issue Vol 2 free of charge (*for Amazon Prime members). No idea how long this deal is going to last so we suggest you take advantage sooner rather than later. Written by the collaborative team of Jon Chang (Author), Kane Smith (Author), Josh Taylor (Illustrator), BPRE is a graphic novel unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Meticulously researched, it creates a near-future filled with intrigue and corporations and regional actors relying on hired guns who cut their teeth in the Second Gulf War. Described by some as “Blackhawk Down meets Syriana” the action begins to really pick up in Vol 2.
