ParaCord Wrist Bands from Specialized Tactical Systems

Friday, May 11th, 2012

Hand made by an active duty NY State SWAT Operator, Specialized Tactical Systems’ new “Survival Wrist Band” is made for the manliest among us. These “Wrist Bands” provide a manly man with 7-10 feet of paracord (depending on size) and are woven with a time consuming basket or jacobs weave. As you can see, it is wider than mere paracord bracelets on the market and provides for a more comfortable wear. According to STS, “This paracord can be used to climb tall trees, restrain naughty people (restraint of family members is not encouraged) , or tie things to other things.” Good stuff.

Available in Black, OD, MultiCam and UCP, the ParaCord Wrist Band can be further customized with the addition of an American flag or a Trident.

ITS Tactical Single Point Koozie

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012

ITS Tactical developed this Single Point Koozie with Zulu Nylon Gear. It’s a very nice application of the style. While they credit OSOE with the original design, I remember as a kid the Life Support guys in my dad’s unit sewing shoulder straps made from tubular nylon on to a Velcro harness affair to hold foam beer coazies circa the early 80s. We had a couple around the house. The idea is old, but this application is well executed.

“While we certainly can’t take credit for the first tactical koozie, that goes to our friend John Willis over at OSOE, with his blessing we’ve created our Single Point Koozie which draws it’s inspiration from the coolest piece of kit from our last Hog Hunt.

These koozies feature MultiCam Jacquard Webbing, MultiCam Loop, removable strap, drainage grommet and even removable ITW QASM buckles to mount it to your belt!”

Happy 25th Anniversary USSOCOM

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

April 16, 2012 marked the 25th Anniversary of USSOCOM. Having spent many years of my career in Army, Air Force, and Joint SOF units, I have a special affinity for the command and its personnel.

However, today marks a different anniversary. In the early morning hours of 25 April, 1980 President Carter announced to a stunned world that the United States had undertaken an ambitious raid into Iran to liberate 52 American hostages held at our Embassy. Unfortunately, that raid, named Operation Eagle Claw was unsuccessful and we lost 8 American servicemen. Remember their sacrifice.

But, this failure was the watershed event that created, over the next several decades the world’s preeminent Special Operations capability; USSOCOM and it’s components.
