Tuesday, February 4th, 2020

Boyds Gunstocks, the South Dakota-based hardwood gunstock manufacturer, introduces its new thumbhole stock for 2020!  Called Spike CampTM this new thumbhole gunstock shape is designed with simplicity in mind.

For just $99, the Spike CampTM   is “The Essentials-Only” gunstock.  Aptly named, this thumbhole gunstock keeps it simple:  It’s lightweight at just 2.5 lbs. and has a large ergonomically-designed thumbhole that is super comfortable in your hands.  It features a short Monte Carlo style comb to provide a proper cheek weld, two sling studs for sling attachment, and a free-floated barrel channel for better accuracy.  For options, you get the essentials only:  choice of color, optional pillars, and either a satin or glossy finish.  You can upgrade to a 1-inch recoil pad; purchased separately.

Spike camps in the backcountry are a strategic necessity to tipping the odds in your favor and allowing you to do more with less.  The Spike CampTM   thumbhole stock is a high-quality, extremely comfortable, lightweight, essentials-only stock.  The performance of a free-floated barrel, standard sling studs, and a thumbhole grip give you everything you need to achieve success, and all while keeping weight and size down.

The Spike CampTM   is available in all 13 of Boyds’ color combinations and will be available the week of January 13th, 2020.

As with all Boyds gunstocks, the Spike CampTM  is constructed of top-grade premium laminated hardwood that is dried to exacting specifications to ensure rigidity and stability, and then sealed with a strong, beautiful finish that is chemical-resistant for long-lasting durability in all weather conditions.

CCI Expands on Its Clean-22 Product Line

Monday, February 3rd, 2020

LEWISTON, Idaho – January 30, 2020 – Last year, CCI—the king of rimfire—launched Clean-22 in three 22 LR configurations. This year, the company expands that product line by introducing Clean-22 Suppressor 22 LR and Maxi-Mag Segmented Hollow Point (SHP) 22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire (WMR).

“CCI has been in business for more than 75 years, and currently we have close to 100 cataloged items,” said CCI Product Director Rick Stoeckel. “We utilize a state-of-the art production facility and a dedicated, highly experienced workforce, to create a huge variety of innovative product options that have created unparalleled brand loyalty from millions of shooters and hunters. A prime example of innovation is one of the company’s latest and greatest product lines: Clean-22. And this year, CCI is expanding its lineup.”

Clean-22 Suppressor 22 LR uses an advanced polymer bullet coating to reduce lead fouling inside a suppressor by up to 60 percent. The exclusive feature allows much easier suppressor cleaning and maintenance. These loads boast excellent accuracy while cycling reliably through any suppressed firearm. The load’s brass case gives the cartridge a tactical look when paired with the black polymer, 45-grain bullet. The load is available in 200-count cartons. This convenient, carton-style “pour pack” makes it easy to handle all the ammo needed for a big day at the range. When range day is done, the containers close securely to hold the remaining rounds until your next shoot.

New Clean-22 Maxi-Mag SHP is the industry’s only segmenting hollow-point bullet in 22 WMR. The load’s 46-grain Segmented Hollow Point splits into three equal-size pieces on impact, tripling the number of wound channels. The polymer bullet coating allows this separation at much lower velocities and longer distances than a conventional copper jacket. This load features an olive drab green bullet and is available in 50-count boxes.

Clean-22 uses an exclusive polymer bullet coating to greatly reduce copper and lead fouling in the barrel—without leaving a residue. It also cuts lead buildup in suppressors by up to 60 percent—depending on outside variables. Bullets in this product line are manufactured using bullet-shape geometry that’s been ballistically optimized for accuracy and function. And with dependable CCI priming and consistent propellant, Clean-22 provides flawless cycling through all rimfire platforms including semi-automatics.

These new products were announced at the 2020 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, January 21-24. Shipments for the new Clean-22 products mentioned in this release are scheduled to ship starting in the Spring of 2020.

In 2019, CCI launched three Clean-22 22 LR options: Sub-Sonic, High Velocity and Pink. All loads feature a 40-grain round nose lead bullet colored in a way to signify their differences. Red represented High Velocity which boasted a muzzle velocity of 1,235 feet-per-second (fps). Blue for Sub-Sonic featuring a muzzle velocity of 1,070 fps. Both options were sold in 100-count, clear-sided, durable boxes that CCI is known for. Clean-22 Pink also delivers a muzzle velocity of 1,235 fps and is colored in a way to communicate that it helps fight breast cancer. A portion of the proceeds from every box sold goes directly to the effort to find a cure. It comes in a 400-round bulk bottle that’s perfect for long days at the range.

SHOT Show 20 – FTC Magnifier Mount from Unity Tactical

Wednesday, January 29th, 2020

Unity Tactical’s FTC Magnifier Mounts are genius. The mount stores the magnifier when not needed within the footprint of the weapon, no more stuff hanging off to the side, and it doesn’t occlude the Red Dot Sight when stowed. When employed the sight’s centerline is 2.26″ above the rail.

SHOT Show 20 – Wilcox FUSION System

Wednesday, January 29th, 2020

Wilcox Industries has been working on powered weapon rails for years, but now International customers are beginning to field their FUSION system.

Wilcox refers to FUSION as an “electrical power management system” which provides centralized power to the weapon’s accessories via a removable Battery Management Power Supply System for CR123A with primary and backup power switch. It also works as a data bus.

This waterproof battery case powers the system and is mounted to the 6 o’clock position just in front of the magwell.

The system is modular. The triangular inserts are for heat mitigation with a Remote light/laser Activation Switch which can also be inserted into these slots. The light module was developed with SureFire and uses their Vampire head for White and IR illumination. Like everything else, it’s is removable and the compact form factor is thanks to the central power source.

Below, you can see FUSION Reflex Sighting System and 3X magnifier with flip mount. The Reflex Sight is based on Wilcox’s BOSS.

The final component to FUSION is BTAC, a software system which serves as a Blue Force Tracker and fuses data from other Wilcox systems like the RAPTAR-S rangefinder. In addition to a power and data bus, FUSION incorporates a shot counter which can be depicted on the Reflex Sighting System. It can also monitor the temperature of the weapon.

Additional accessories are under development. Wilcox has also developed other versions of FUSION for other weapons like the Beretta ARX160.

SHOT Show 20 – Scalarworks 1.93” Leap Mount with 34mm Rings

Thursday, January 23rd, 2020

Scalarworks showed is a version of the Leap Mount with 1.93″ height and 34mm rings. This is great for the new Vortex 10x. The Leap is CNC milled from 7075-T6 billet. It also incorporates a hinged ring system rather than the split rings found on other mounts.
