MultiCam Materials – Alpha

Tuesday, May 1st, 2012

Every two weeks SSD showcases a different MultiCam print fabric from Duro Textiles LLC. This week, we are covering Alpha. MultiCam is a single camouflage pattern designed to hide the wearer in varied environments, seasons, elevations, and light conditions. After a great deal of commercial success and adoption by elements of US Special Operations Forces, in 2010 MultiCam was selected for use by the US Army as its Operation Enduring Freedom Camouflage Pattern (OCP).

Alpha is heavier than Duro’s 40D 2-way stretch fabric and is ideal for more rugged use. It owes its stretch to a makeup of 91% Nylon 9% Spandex. Additionally, the face is NanoSphere® treated to maintain a highly water resistant finish.

Finished Width – 54 inches cuttable

Crye Precision has just released their new G3 All Weather Combat Pants. They incorporate all of the features of the G3 line of combat clothing but with the addition of Duro’s Alpha fabric. Alpha’s excellent abrasion resistance as well as wind and water resistance makes them perfect for inclement weather applications.

Features include 10 pockets as well as accommodations for Crye’s patented removable AirFlex Combat Knee Pads. It incorporates a zip fly with Velcro closure and a low-profile adjustable waist feature. Berry Compliant.

MultiCam Materials – LAMBDA NTS

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

Every two weeks SSD showcases a different MultiCam print fabric from Duro Textiles LLC. This week, we are covering LAMBDA NTS. MultiCam is a single camouflage pattern designed to help the wearer hide in varied environments, seasons, elevations, and light conditions. After a great deal of commercial success and adoption by elements of US Special Operations Forces, in 2010 MultiCam was selected for use by the US Army as its Operation Enduring Freedom Camouflage Pattern (OCP).

LAMBDA NTS is a high-performance, super smooth fabric designed for technical baselayers. In the past it has been used for cycling jerseys and running tights. It features a high spandex content that dramatically increases stretch and compression properties. Since it was designed for use as a baselayer, it also incorporates anti-microbial protection and moisture wicking properties.

Specs
Finished Width – 58 inches cuttable
Finished Weight – 3.75 oz/yd² approximately
Fiber Content – 92% Microfiber Polyester/8% Spandex

LAMBDA NTS was just released during SHOT Show and is so new that no one has picked it up yet but I think it’s going to make some great T-shirts. But that only makes sense as NTS stands for Next To Skin. I was able to check out a swatch at SHOT Show and it has a very cozy hand. It might also be incorporated as a stretch panel in other garments or perhaps as a torso section for a non-FR, fully printed combat shirt. I can’t wait to see how it’s used.

MultiCam Materials – Beaver

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012

Every two weeks SSD showcases a different MultiCam print fabric from Duro Textiles LLC. This week, we are covering Beaver.

This technical stretch fabric is designed for extreme-performance outerwear applications. By using a 3-ply laminate 4-way stretch composite is a waterproof breathable fabric. For added protection, they have applied branded NanoSphere® water repellent finish to the outside. This is a great solution for those companies that have been asking SSD about an off-the-shelf softshell fabric.

Specs:
Finished Width – 55 inches cuttable
Finished Weight – 3.75 oz/yd² approximately
Fiber Content – 93% Nylon/7% Spandex
Specific Properties – NanoSphere® Water Repellent

Crye Precision actually chose Beaver for their FieldShell due to its lightweight properties and foul weather performance. The FieldShell features a unique, armor compatible venting system that unzips radially around the axis of the shoulder. This means it is accessible whether you are wearing armor or not. Additionally, the jacket features a lined collar and flat hidden-zipper front, as well as discreet zip mesh pockets for internal storage as well as inset bicep pockets.

MultiCam Materials – Delta

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012

Delta is the latest fabric in our ongoing bi-weekly series presented by Duro Textiles LLC focusing on the various materials they offer in the MultiCam camouflage pattern.

Delta is a Light-Weight Soft-Shell 40 Denier nylon 2-way stretch laminated to a Wicking/Anti-Microbial Knit. Take a look at the photo to the left and it shows what the fabric looks like. You can see a small ripstop pattern. It is IR treated and has a soft hand making it ideal for soft shell jackets. Additionally, the face is laminated to a moisture wicking knit backer which is toward the wearer and allows for quick drying comfort. The face fabric is also NanoSphere® treated and weighs about 5 oz/yd².

Vertx chose Delta for their Smock and Gunfighter top. It makes both products great for three-season wear. In addition to the fabric, the Smock has several other features not found elsewhere.

– Innovative design with a unique pocket layout
– Mesh lined dual pull pit zips
– Mag pockets inside chest pockets
– Skirt mounted mag pockets

Duro Introduces Two New MultiCam Print Fabrics

Saturday, January 22nd, 2011

Duro Textiles, the exclusive distributor of MultiCam introduced two new fabrics at SHOT Show. The first, seen on the left below is LiteLok a 100% nylon, double layer fabric. It is 35% lighter than 500D Cordura and has been used in solid colors for many years for concealment cut armor vests. The ripstop weave gives it a very techie look and it boasts high abrasion and tear resistance.

The second fabric on the right of the photo is called Epsilon. It is a 40D x 70D nylon ripstop fabric with Nanosphere treatment. This gives it water and resistant properties.
