Shadow Systems – Blemish MR918 Frame Sale

Friday, August 16th, 2019

Many of you have asked to purchase the frame as a stand alone product. This is your opportunity to buy a stripped MR918 frame so you can add the parts you choose to build on your own custom pistol. This frame is compatible with parts that are designed to fit the Gen 4 G19.

THESE ARE SECONDS QUALITY, BLEMISHED FRAMES. These frames are functionally perfect, but did not meet our exacting specifications for the way they look. The blemish is in the fronstrap and is simply some distortion of the frontstrap texture.   See images for examples of the kind of blemishes you may find on your Seconds-Quality Frame.

Note: there are a VERY limited quantity of these frames available, and when they are sold out will not be restocked.

Included with purchase of a Blem MR918 Frame:

  • Serialized frame with minor textural imperfections
  • Three interchangeable backstraps: high, neutral, and low
  • Backstrap tool
  • Magwell extension

    Shadow Systems Releases Multi-Role MR918 9mm Pistol

    Sunday, January 20th, 2019

Plano, TX (January, 2019) – Shadow Systems, a US-based manufacturer of custom Glock pistols and Glock compatible parts and accessories, is proud to announce the release of their first proprietary pistol design, the MR918.

The MR918 name comes from the idea of creating a true “multi-role” pistol. The size and operating system are inspired by the Glock Gen4 G19 model, but many aspects have been completely redesigned. In particular, the frame features a new approach to interchangeable backstraps, called the NPOA system for “Natural Point of Aim.” Shadow ignored the conventional “small, medium, and large” approach and opted for backstraps that fundamentally change the bore orientation of the pistol. Included with the pistol is a high, neutral, and low backstrap; each backstrap’s name corresponds to how it orients the muzzle relative to the shooter’s hand.

Chad Jewett, Shadow National Sales Manager, notes: “Many people find Glocks point high for them. Others love it. We have a High backstrap for Glock lovers, a Neutral backstrap that matches our custom Glocks with a backstrap reduction, and a Low backstrap that brings the muzzle down even further like a 1911 with a flat mainspring housing. Each one makes the gun point totally differently so you can find what matches your natural point of aim.”

Shadow has incorporated many of the customer-favorite extras found on their current custom pistols including front and rear directional serrations, optic cuts, window cuts, stainless guide rods, and flat-faced triggers. Every pistol also includes a proprietary removable magazine well at no extra charge for those who want to improve their reload speed. Surprisingly, the pistols feature reasonable price points in the $799-999 range.

General Manager, Trevor Roe, explains: “From the beginning, our goal was to give the consumer a bet-your-life reliable, feature-packed pistol for under $1K. We’ve invested a ton to get here and have incorporated lean manufacturing practices to control cost. The result is the highest value, U.S. produced handgun in existence. It’s a no brainer when the next best thing might be $1,000 more.”

The MR918 is available in “Combat” and “Elite” versions, with or without optic cuts. All models feature a match grade, spiral-fluted barrel with either a premium bronze Titanium CarboNitride finish or black DLC finish. All slides feature a black DLC finish. All models also include three NPOA backstraps, a detachable magazine well, and a zippered range bag.

The guns below are pre-production hand-stippled versions. Hand stippling may be available as custom option in the future:

The frame has been in development for two years and is 100% a Shadow System design, not a rebrand of another frame already in the market. The frame makes use of new manufacturing techniques to wrap more texture around the curves of the frame and put grip texture in places not normally seen on production guns.

The MR918 will be released to the public at SHOT Show, on January 22nd, 2019. They will be immediately available for pre-order and the first MR918 pistols will ship in March 2019.

Shadow Systems – Gen3 G17 LFT Hybrid Grip Slide

    Tuesday, September 11th, 2018

Shadow Systems showed me this slide during the NRA Show and I have been waiting for it come out.

The LFT Hybrid Grip Slide was designed with Lead Faucet Tactical’s Dan Brokos. Brokos is a retired Army Special Forces Sergeant Major. Before founding Lead Faucet Tactical, Brokos served as the NCOIC of Ft Bragg’s Range 37, Home of the Army SF CQB and Sniper school.

Designed for use with the Gen 3 G17, the Hybrid Slide is cut for an RMR Optic. It also incorporates a front gripping surface with both directional serrations as well as an insert of die cut grip tape.

According to Shadow Systems, Brokos discovered that each surface has benefits in different conditions and with or without gloves.  Combining the two means positive control all the times that is not uncomfortable or “too sharp.”  Racking the slide also feels significantly easier for those with a weaker grip who have trouble overcoming the recoil spring.

    • Excellent performance in muddy, wet conditions, and extreme cold
    • Best-in-class grip surface when operating in gloves
    • Commercial adhesive backed grip tape stays where you put it
    • Cut for Trijicon RMR

    LFT Hybrid Slide Includes:
    • Stripped 17-4 Stainless Steel Slide
    • DLC (Diamond-like Carbon) finish
    • Rough grit gray, medium grit gray, medium grit pink grip tape inserts
    • Slide is completely stripped and does not include Channel Liner

Shadow Systems Releases Combat Special Glock 19 Slide, in Partnership with OpticsPlanet

    Thursday, June 28th, 2018

Plano, TX (June, 2018) – Shadow Systems, a US-based manufacturer of Glock compatible parts and accessories, is proud to announce the release of the ‘Combat Special’ Glock 19 Slide, available exclusively through OpticsPlanet.

The G19 OpticsPlanet Combat Special Slide w/Cover Plate is engineered to maximize the function and handling characteristics of your Glock G19 pistol. Machined from hardened 17-4 stainless steel, the slide features aggressively raked front and rear serrations, weight reducing window and pocket cuts, and precisely executed chamfers and radiuses throughout. The Combat Special also features an optics mount cut for the Trijicon RMR miniature red dot sight.

The slides are coated in cutting edge hard-use finishes–DLC is renowned for its hardness, lubricity, and deep black color. Our new PVD FDE finish is chemically identical to the finish chosen for the Army’s new modular handgun program. Not simply Cerakote, this is a chemically bonded PVD finish that is substantially tougher than conventional epoxy type finishes. Includes hardcoat anodized cover plate, cover plate screws, and RMR mounting screws.

“We’re excited to be partnering with Optics Planet on this product.  Their input into the design helped us create a slide that looks great but is built tough enough for serious work.  We are looking forward to doing other products with the OpticsPlanet team in the future.”

    – Trevor Roe – General Manager, Shadow Systems

The Combat Special side is currently shipping in a Gen 3 configuration, with Gen 4 to follow shortly.

    Friday, May 4th, 2018

Shadow Systems, a Texas-based manufacturer of Glock slides, barrels, and accessories, has examples of complete Glock slide assemblies on display at NRAAM. Available for G17 and G19, generations 3 & 4, the slides can be completely configured to customer specification via Shadow’s website, allowing for different threaded and unthreaded match barrels, styles of slide, internals, and sights. The end result is designed to drop right onto an OEM Glock frame, or a P80, although the reps did state additional fitting may be required for the later.
