Sniper Bladeworks strives to integrate ergonomics in their designs. Here you can see the DH. That flare on the back of the grip does great job filling the hollow of your palm. They do variety of blade designs o don’t feel limited by what you see here.

The new DMF looks beefy but it is a comfortable fit. These sold out as soon as the show opened.

Incidentally, Sniper Bladeworks names their knives after Grateful Dead songs (as if their logo wasn’t a dead giveaway). DH is Dark Hollow and DMF is named after Traffic’s Dear Mr. Fantasy, a favorite of the Dead.

Blade Show – Emerson Knives / Multitasker Tools

Friday, June 8th, 2012

One of the big draws at Blade Show is the Emerson Knives / Multitasker Tools collaboration of the EK-1 Multitool and EDC-1 Compact Multitool.

20120608-162207.jpg

Featuring CNC machined billet “chomper” blades, and G10 handle scales, the EK-1 Multitool integrates a 3.125″ Tanto-style blade as well as a 3″ SARK style serrated blade, both with liner safety lock. There is also an Awl, Can Opener with Small Screwdriver Tip, Bottle Opener with Large Screwdriver Tip, and a Phillips No 1 Screwdriver. Additionally, the EK-1 accepts OTIS cleaning kit tool heads and comes packaged with a removable dental pick for reaching difficult crevices. Naturally, it also has a belt clip.

The EDC-1 Compact Multitool offers G10 scales and a chassis that is more reminiscent of a pocket knife. No pliers here, but it does include a 2.5″ Micro commander style knife blade with patented wave feature and liner lock safety. As you can see, there use also a removable prybar / gator wrench / bottle opener. Additional tools including an Awl with liner lock safety, Phillips No 1 Screwdriver, and Large Slotted Screwdriver. Don’t forget the belt clip.

Look for these collaborations to hit the street this September.

Blade Show – Al Mar Knives

Friday, June 8th, 2012

Al Mar Knives is displaying a couple of prototype knives in a new material.

20120608-155919.jpg

Made from Kirinite, a brand new material. It’s so tough, it takes three times as long to grind as ivory! As you can see, it holds the coloration all the way through and, as an inert material is resistant to solvents. But once polished it is both comfortable to the touch as well as durable.

Look for Kirinite soon in many Al Mar Knives designs.

Friday, June 8th, 2012

Inspired by the original BushTool, Habilis Bushtools is now offering a me model called the Self Reliance Tool.

They’ve added 1.5″ to the design which accommodates the half moon cut out. It serves a variety of purposes but can be used to choke up on the blade for fine work with the blade.

Additionally, the butt of the handle has been beefed up in case you need to hammer the knife.

Blade Show – Exotac FREEKey

Friday, June 8th, 2012

One of our favorite small US businesses is at Blade Show. Exotac is based in Georgia and offers a variety of survival and fire starter items. Now, they’re importing the FREEKey, designed by Swedish (hence the name) firm Drosselmeyer Design Group.

Once you get one, you can’t live without it. The simple design opens right up to accept keys. No more broken fingernails. It comes in two models, the FREEKey and the FREEKey system with smaller rings to group keys.
