The Safariland Group Announces Acquisition of United Uniform

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – The Safariland Group (“Safariland” or the “Company”), a leading provider of a diverse range of safety and survivability products designed for the public safety, military, professional and outdoor markets, today announced that it has acquired substantially all of the assets of United Uniform Company, Inc. (“United Uniform”), a premier retailer and distributor of equipment, tactical gear and uniforms for law enforcement and public safety professionals in New York State.

Founded in 1949 and headquartered in Buffalo, New York, United Uniform offers a wide selection of best-in-class products and a superior customer service experience through its three retail stores in New York, as well as direct and e-commerce sales through its website. United Uniform has been a customer of Safariland since 1992 and an exclusive distributor of Safariland products for more than twenty years.

With the acquisition of United Uniform, Safariland has enhanced the Company’s position as a leading global provider of safety and survivability products. Together with the acquisitions of Atlantic Tactical in January 2015 and Lawmen’s Safety Supply in December 2015, Safariland has expanded its geographic footprint to 11 retail stores, establishing itself as the premier provider of law enforcement equipment to institutions and retail customers in the Eastern United States.

Scott O’Brien, Safariland’s President, said, “United Uniform has a track record of providing excellent customer service and a diverse selection of top-quality products. This acquisition enables Safariland to better serve our customers by expanding our retail presence to new markets with a focus on enhanced customer service and product experience. With the addition of three retail locations in New York, this acquisition enables Safariland to directly engage with more of our customers and further strengthen our brand in the marketplace.”

Josh Muskat, President of United Uniform, will continue to lead the business including its institutional and retail operations. He will report to Jim Duncan, Vice President of Domestic Sales and Distribution for Safariland.

“I look forward to working with Josh and leveraging his expertise in soft goods and uniforms across the broader Safariland organization,” continued O’Brien. “His skillset will be a great addition to our platform, and we welcome him to our team.”

Muskat said, “We are delighted to have Safariland’s strategic and financial support to help position United Uniform for long-term success. I have worked with Safariland for many years and am confident that, together, we will continue to create extraordinary solutions to best meet the needs of our customers and make our communities safer.”

Adding United Uniform to its portfolio furthers Safariland’s effort to continually grow relationships with distribution partners and achieve its mission of “Together, We Save Lives.™”

For right now, don’t be surprised when in six months he is posting an angry “they are destroying my business” letter on the internet. Hope it doesn’t happen but the recent postings on this very site would lead me to believe otherwise. Just sayin’.
