Blue Force Gear has just announced they have licensed their Helium Whisper technology to Tactical Tailor. Helium Whisper technology is a single piece modular backer made of a high performance laminate called ULTRAcomp that can be integrated into virtually any load carrying pouch during manufacturing.
“Providing exactly what the customer requires is our goal, incorporating this technology into our product allows us to do it very easily, that’s exciting,” said GW Ayers, Tactical Tailor’s Director of Sales. “Helium Whisper will support our efforts to fulfill an immediate SOF LCS Contract requirement.”
Tactical Tailor is the second company to license this lightweight technology after Velocity Systems announced in July it had licensed Helium Whisper which resulted in significant weight and manufacturing savings.
“We are excited to have engineered a system that other respected load carriage companies are choosing to utilize,” said Ashley Burnsed, Blue Force Gear’s CEO. “At the end of the day, we are all working towards the same goal – to improve the soldier’s safety and survivability.”
Blue Force Gear provides the backers directly to the licensee and they develop the best way to integrate them into their pouch designs. They can reduce weight up to 60% over traditional MOLLE attachment systems.
UPDATE – Tactical Tailor MALICE clip fans fear not. They aren’t going to stop using them or manufacturing them.
How will this effect their production of the Malice Clip and will they offer both types of “pouch attachment”?
This won’t affect MALICE clips in the slightest. TT did this to fulfill a contract for a SOF customer who wanted HW.
This a great thing IMHO. I hope First Spear licenses their 6/12 and Tubes designs. Revolutionary materials/techologies help companies a lot, but sharing it throughout an entire industry benefits the end-user most of all.
Interesting how one of the first players in the industry with a truly ground-breaking idea is licensing IP from one of the companies it blazed a trail for.
That’s the sign of a good organization – one that can adapt to a changing, evolving market and integrate the latest and greatest. I’d rather TT use something this revolutionary than bypass it simply because they did not develop it.
TT’s great designs combined with this technology should be a winner.
Congratulations to TT, Mr. Coffey’s designs really innovated back in the day, MALICE clips being a sort of bridge technology ‘tween ALICE pouches and MOLLE everything (injection molding machines to make ’em ain’t cheap, either) and this looks like a major leap forward for them. So many smaller gear makers made their money and came up on pouches that utilized MALICE clips, I hope this pushes the company to creating more good and useful things! I shut up now…
I always hated malice clips. I’m glad to see the soft/ natick snap take over- especially with added weight savings.
I’m curious whether TT will offer this in any colours/patterns other than MultiCam.
