MDM – Learn About Ironlace

Tuesday, September 25th, 2012

A few months ago the owner of Unleashed Tactical Equipment linked me up with the Canadian brand, Ironlace. It’s a bootlace brand. I know it sounds mundane, but broken laces suck. Sure, you can use 550 cord but even they don’t offer these features. In addition to 1600 lbs of tension, Ironlace is virtually chemical proof, UV ray resistant, water proof, abrasion resistant, and heat resistant up to 630 deg F.

They offer laces in 33″, 45″, 54″, 63″, 72″, 84″, 96″, and 108″ in both Black and Brown. However, for military personnel, the 72″ model seems to be the most popular and they are also available in Olive Mojave.

Be sure to see them with Provengo, their exclusive US distributor, in booth #3056. Provengo will not only be giving demo’s but they will also be giving out 100 pairs of Ironlace Olive Mojave 72” boot laces to Devil Dogs attending the event!

Maneuver Conference – Danner

Tuesday, September 18th, 2012

Available Mid-December, the new Tachyon takes lightweight to a whole new level. Weighing in at 13 oz for a size 10, it integrates an encapsulated EVA midsole with a fully rubberized outsole. There’s no exposed EVA on the bottom of this boot and provides slip and POL resistance. Additionally, the insole is of PU to last the life of the boot.

The Tachyon features a fully synthetic upper with a coated toe to increase service life. Finally, you may notice the low rocker design and running shoe profile of the boot.

Look for them in Tan, Sage Green and Black.

Combat Flip Flops Suffers Setback

Tuesday, September 18th, 2012

Combat Flip Flops has run into a setback in the production of their line of footwear.

Dear Combat Flip Flops Fans,

It is with disappointment that we deliver news about another Combat Flip Flops setback. The Combat Flip Flops team traveled to Kabul last week to take delivery of the initial run of AK-47’s, Tuck-Tucks, and Poseidons. Upon initial inspection, we found 100% of the footwear failed due to material issues. Post assembly, it was extremely clear that the footwear cannot be delivered to our customers.

This is not an Afghan issue. The responsibility is on our shoulders.

On an good note, we sourced two new factories and produced samples that exceed CFF standards for quality and production capacity.

The CFF team is executing a contingency plan that has the initial run footwear delivered to worldwide dealers and customers by Christmas with a much larger volume of Men’s and Women’s footwear for delivery in Spring 2013. If you have any questions or would like a refund for your previously purchased footwear, please email us at info@combatflipflops.com. We truly appreciate the support and patience of this community. Thank you.

Combat Flip Flops

It is unfortunate that CFF has run into this setback. I’ve spoken at length with the folks who have worked to bring this vision to reality and I know how difficult it has been to engage with Allies at the economic level, especially in a combat zone. They have been up front about these struggles and will work through this latest challenge. Thanks guys for helping to drain the swamp. It’s impossible to win when you’re up to your ass in alligators.

Garmont Eclipse Closeout from Extreme Outfitters

Monday, September 17th, 2012

This is the best deal on shoes I have seen in ages.

Based on the award winning Eclipse GTX, the Eclipse Vented features the same supportive upper, but with ventilation for summer and less weight. Whether you’re hiking the Appalachian Trail, the mountains of Afghanistan, or the deserts of North Africa this boot is up to the task.

•Upper: 1.8 mm suede leather and mesh
•Structure: Vibram® G3 +2
•Sole: Vibram® G3 +2
•Garmont Shock Absorption: Compression Molded EVA with additional shock insert
•Weight: 410 grams for 1/2 pr size 8.5

These debuted at $99.99 so with these going for $29.99 they won’t last long.

Bates Awarded US Army Contract for Mountain Combat Boot

Friday, September 14th, 2012

Bates Footwear, a division of Wolverine Worldwide, announced that it will manufacture Temperate Weather Mountain Combat Boots for the U.S. Army under a new U.S. Government contract issued by Natick Contracting Division. Bates will produce 64,000 pairs of the newly designed Mountain Combat Boot within the next six months at their U.S.-based facility in Big Rapids, Michigan. I’ve been to this factory and the employees are top notch folks. Literally, different generations of the same family work side by side to produce quality, Berry Compliant footwear for our armed forces. It’s impressive.

U.S. Congressman Dave Camp noted, “Bates produces some of the world’s most technologically advanced footwear for U.S. troops. Every time I visit the Big Rapids plant I leave more and more impressed by the dedication, commitment and tireless work ethic of the employees at Bates. This is great news for the Big Rapids community and fourth district of Michigan.”

This contract award, combined with the brand’s other recent contract awards for Army Hot Weather Mountain Combat Boots, brings the cumulative value of the Mountain Combat Boot contracts to just over $15 million in 2012.

“We are very proud of our recent Army Mountain Combat Boot contract awards,” said Mike Stornant, Vice President and General Manager of Bates Footwear. “This is a relatively new product for the Army, and we are pleased they have chosen Bates based on our quality performance and ability to respond to the short-term delivery schedules required under these contracts. We remain committed to the U.S. Army and Department of Defense as we provide U.S. troops with the highest quality footwear that supports and protects them in their warfighting efforts.”

Sand Storm Lightfighter Chukka

Sunday, August 12th, 2012

Military Morons passed me this image of a concept boot he mocked up of a short version of the Lightfighter from the recently launched footwear brand Sand Storm. There aren’t many chukka styles on the market so this would be a welcome addition.

What do you think?
