5.11 Tactical – Taclite M-65 Jacket

5.11 Tactical has really stepped up their game and when I see something I think is interesting, I’m going to point it out. This is one of those items. They’ve developed their own take on the venerable M65 field jacket, dubbed the Taclite M-65. The Taclite M-65 is made from 6.14oz Poly/Cotton RipStop fabric with DWR treatment which provides stain, fade, and water resistance. A slim inner liner makes it easy for the M-65 to function as a layer in a broad range of climates. Dual hidden document chest pouches offer secure storage, and a left side strip of Velcro loop functions as a nametape holder.

The Taclite M-65 comes in Black, TDU Khaki, and Tundra.

Rackety’s – Richmond Trouser Project

A reader recently contacted us regarding an ongoing project in the UK to develop specialty clothing for Military personnel recovering from leg injuries.

Rackety’s is a UK-based manufacturer that makes specialty clothing for children and adults with disabilities. Working closely with the Ministry of Defence, they have developed a special pant that is designed to be worn over an external fixator frame, which aids in stabilizing shattered leg bones during recovery. Called ‘Richmond Trousers’, they are named after Colonel David Richmond who helped with their early development, as he had previously suffered a gunshot wound to the leg during operations. The pants aid in reducing the risk of infection while adding comfort and useability to the wearer. The Richmond Trousers have been trialed successfully, and are now being prepped to be sold on the market place.

Beyond Clothing – A-9 Shorty Mission Shirt

This is really cool. I can’t believe no one has released one of these yet. Guys have been cutting their sleeves off for some time now but generally it ends up looking pretty ragged. I’m looking forward to seeing it in person.

Tactical Distributors – Shooter Performance Shirt

Tactical Distributors has just come out with their new Shooter Performance Shirt. While similar in design to the original Shooter Shirt, the Performance Shirt is made with moisture-wicking, 4-way stretch fabric. It also features articulated side panels, and raglan sleeves for flexibility and movement. The left-sleeve Velcro loop panel allows for the attachment of a morale or ID patch.

Patagonia – Capilene Woodland T-Shirt

Patagonia’s Capilene series consists of synthetic baselayers. Made from moisture-wicking polyester that is composed of at least 35% recycled material, Capilene is designed to be quick to wick and quick to dry, has bluesign approval, and uses Polygiene technology for odor control in the garment.

The above shirt is a Capilene 1 baselayer. Featuring Patagonia’s woodland pattern called ‘Camoscape: Alpha Green’, it provides 50+ UPF sun protection and a cool, drying airflow. When paired with another layer, it wicks moisture and adds warmth.
