Griffin Armament Announces the Recce 5K Rifle Suppressor

Thursday, August 31st, 2023

Watertown WI, Aug. 30th, 2023 –

The Recce series of suppressors are a long-standing staple in the suppressor market segment.  The 1st generation Recce suppressors were debuted in 2012 with the purpose of providing compact, durable, accurate, rifle-specific suppressors to the market.  These suppressors have received continued technology enhancements and revisions over the years to keep them at the forefront of the suppressor market. The latest iteration of this line is the Recce 5K, a compact version of the Recce 5 for users demanding a compact, rapid-indexing, taper mount suppressor.

The Recce 5K features Griffin’s utility-patented ECO-FLOW™ baffle system which offers the pinnacle of .22 caliber sound performance.  This baffle system is tuned such that performance at the muzzle of the suppressor and the ears of the operator are balanced for a uniform and low sound signature in the immediate vicinity of the shooter. Flow-through ports in the baffles alleviate backpressure and minimize toxic gas blowback resulting in a more comfortable shooting experience.

Combining these baffles with a redesigned flash hiding front cap results in flagship flash reduction in a compact K can. Users prioritizing flash suppression for use with night vision optics will also benefit from the tube-over design which slows heating and delays the resulting glow of the suppressor. Combined with the low flash signature, this makes the Recce 5K an ideal choice for nighttime shooting.

The Recce 5K is fully CNC machined, and laser-welded from 17-4 stainless steel for maximum thermal transfer and unparalleled strength and durability. Every component in the Recce 5K is manufactured from solid, high temperature, corrosion resistant 17-4 Stainless Steel, and then H900 heat treated to ensure maximum service life is provided. Included with the Recce 5K is a Taper Mount EZ-Brake making the suppressor ready for use right out of the box.

“The Recce suppressor line has been a best-seller at Griffin since their release back in 2012, and with the increasing interest in compact “K” cans within the market, we knew there was demand for a Recce 5K among our customers. I think the team did a really nice job with this project and we were able to deliver a high-performance suppressor in a compact footprint. The new front cap performs really well and allows the Recce 5K to have full size flash performance in a K-size suppressor.”

Introducing the Forward Controls Design Nautilus Variable Timing System

Friday, August 18th, 2023

The NVTS Nautilus Variable Timing System is a meticulously designed and machined muzzle timing device that offers users the ability to time their muzzle device quickly and easily. NVTS consists of 2 interworking components: a base and a disc.  The base has 12 tick marks, each tick mark corresponds to 30 degrees of rotation of the muzzle device.

NVTS is precision-machined in 4140 steel and finished with a patent pending QPQ process that protects it against corrosion, and is extremely durable, and can be reused. Installation is an easy process: Seat NVTS on the barrel, hand-tighten the muzzle device to determine the amount of timing required, then dial in that timing required by adjusting the disc in the base.

NVTS is patent pending and is developed and manufactured by Swiss CNC in Montgomery, TX, with input from Forward Controls Design on ergonomics and user friendliness. As always, proudly made in the USA. The NVTS Nautilus Variable Timing System is available now from Forward Controls Design, Big Tex Ordnance, Revival Defense, and Primary Arms. Installation video can be found on FCD’s product page.

B&T USA Announces Commercial Release of its APC9K SD2 US Army Submission

Monday, August 14th, 2023

Tampa, FL (August 14th, 2023) – B&T USA is excited to announce that due to continual requests by those familiar with the project, we have been persuaded to produce a limited number of integrally suppressed APC9K SD2 models complete with its scalable suppressor system. This variant was submitted for consideration during the United States Army Sub Compact Weapon (SCW) trials, with said branch ultimately selecting B&T USA’s APC9K and awarding it the SCW Contract.

“To win a US Government contract, you must submit a product that as closely meets their defined specifications as possible — not necessarily what you think the end user needs or even a product that is scalable to best suit its future needs — as was the case with the SD2; the advanced platform was not what the Army required in 2019, but one we anticipate it may in the future” said Chris Mudgett, Vice President of Marketing, B&T USA.

“At less than 15-inches in overall length, the APC9K SD2 is the shortest integrally suppressed submachine gun currently available. It is optimized for low visibility carriage and discreet deployment; while delivering unsurpassed accuracy, controllability, and ergonomics. With its advanced scalable suppressor system, the SD2 is a solution for your future mission.”

Griffin Armament Announces DUAL-LOK HRT-762 Rifle Suppressors

Wednesday, August 9th, 2023

Watertown WI, Aug. 9th, 2023 –

When Griffin Armament designed the DUAL-LOK™ HRT-556™ for elite HRT units, the goal was to deliver a compact, highly durable, low flash, and top tier performing suppressor utilizing the new DUAL-LOK™ active retention system, an often demanded feature by government customers. Griffin is proud to now complete the HRT lineup with the HRT-762™. This suppressor completes the HRT lineup by providing a highly durable, low flash, 30 caliber model.

The HRT-762™ features the patent-pending DUAL-LOK™ mounting system, an accurate, robust, reliable, and wear free system with robust muzzle device support.  The suppressor was designed to have minimal flash signature, minimal POI shift, and minimal gas blowback. These attributes, coupled with maximum strength, durability, and sound performance make the HRT-762™ an unbeatable option in the .30cal suppressor market.

Baffle technology is a lightly modified version of the 4th generation Recce Suppressor baffle system. Tuned ECO-FLOW™ baffles reduce back-pressure, increasing flow, making the host firearm operating system more reliable and improving air quality in the vicinity of the operator’s face.  The patented low profile flash suppressor end cap further adds performance to the low flash baffle system.

“When we developed the HRT-556™, we brought to market a compact, heavy-duty, high-performance can built on a foundation of extensive R&D. Customers requested a .30cal version and we delivered. The HRT-762™ piggybacks off the developments of the HRT-556™ and provides the same top tier performance in a rugged .30caliber option. The HRT 7 is one of our best performing .30cal suppressors to date. I’m extremely proud of the work our team did on this project, and I’m excited to introduce this suppressor to Griffin’s DUAL-LOK™ fanbase.”

SilencerCo Introduces New Titanium Suppressor: The Scythe-Ti

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023

August, 2, 2023 — West Valley City, UT —  SilencerCo is excited to introduce the Scythe-Ti, SilencerCo’s first suppressor completely constructed from titanium. This premium .30 caliber silencer is extremely lightweight and short, with the body of the suppressor weighing just over six ounces and measuring under six inches in length. The real magic, however, is that the Scythe-Ti boasts impressive sound suppression while maintaining this featherlight quality – a unique accomplishment for suppressors in its class. It’s the optimal choice for suppressed hunting, long-range precision shooting or days at the range. The Scythe-Ti will be shipping later this month and available at local dealers.

With no barrel length restrictions and rated for calibers all the way up to .300 RUM, the capabilities of the Scythe-Ti are extensive. It’s finished in a Type II Anodize and rubbed with oil for durability and resistance to chipping or flaking. The Scythe-Ti also features a new single-port anchor brake to give added recoil reduction while maintaining a minimum length. It ships with a custom titanium direct thread mount in 5/8 x 24 to keep the overall weight impressively low.

“Titanium has a lot of benefits over other materials,” said SilencerCo Product Manager Andrew Herbst. “Not only is it freakishly lightweight, but it also cools down a lot quicker than steel so it’s easier to handle after shooting. Plus it looks sleek.”

The Scythe-Ti takes sleek to the next level by replacing wrench flats with a special tool that threads onto the top of the suppressor for easy detachment. It’s also anodized on both the inside and the outside of the suppressor to reduce the common sparking that comes with titanium.

The Scythe-Ti shines in sound performance on 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, .300WM and .300 BLK calibers. When used with the SilencerCo ASR Mount, it’s the quietest suppressor SilencerCo has ever tested on .300 WM.

“When we started our testing for the Scythe-Ti, we were aiming to dominate the titanium market in minimal weight and length,” said Herbst. “We were happily surprised when we found out that the Scythe-Ti also dominates in sound suppression. Overall, it’s a very well-rounded suppressor.”

Product Specifications:

• Rated for calibers ranging from .223 REM/5.56 NATO to .300 RUM

• Weighs 6.3 oz. without anchor brake, 7.3 oz. with included anchor brake

• Measures 6.16” in length

• Pairs with Bravo accessories and mounting systems

• MSRP of $1,174

• Extremely lightweight and short

• Features a new single-port anchor brake

• Rated all the way up to .300 RUM

• No barrel length restrictions

• Bolt-gun and semi-auto rated — not rated for full-auto fire

• Finished in Type II Anodize and rubbed with oil

Griffin Armament Launches M4SD-L : Tubeless GATE-LOK 5.56mm Suppressor

Thursday, July 27th, 2023

Griffin Armament’s new M4SD-L (LIGHTWEIGHT) sound suppressor is the first tubeless laser welded suppressor to be introduced to Griffin’s versatile Gate-LOKTM lineup. This design makes the M4SD-L lighter than other Gate-LOKTM suppressors. Combining ECO-FLOWTM baffles, Gate-LOKTM mounting system, and Pressure Reduction Cap results in a lightweight, durable, and performance-rich next-generation suppressor.

The M4SD-L features Griffin’s Gate-LOKTM mounting system which allows for rapid installation and removal with the ability to be mounted to most USGI-spec A2 NATO compensators, as well as all Griffin proprietary Gate-LOKTM muzzle device options. The GATE-LOKTM system is faster and easier to use than standard A2 interfaces and ensures a strong, concentrically aligned mount with minimal POI shift and exceptional repeatability.

Each individual baffle in the M4SD-L has been tuned to provide superior sound reduction and incorporates Griffin’s patented ECO-FLOWTM technology that reduces back-pressure and increases flow. This makes the suppressor host firearm operating system more reliable and largely un-affected by the suppressor and provides cleaner breathing air to the operator’s face. Each baffle has been individually tuned and engineered for a specific purpose, unlike a classic stack design. With the M4SD- L, each baffle has an independent function to improve performance.

The patent pending Pressure Reduction Cap features high performance internal and external flash reducing features, as well as optimally tuned gas vents which not only enhance flash reduction even further, but also improve sound performance in conjunction with the ECO-FLOWTM baffles.

When asked about the suppressor, Austin, head of Griffin Armament product development said,

“We manufactured the M4SD-L for demonstration to the military and provided many units to the military for as yet ongoing T&E. This GATE-LOKTM model was intended for experienced end users seeking greater optimization for real world conditions. This suppressor is now available for the consumer and export markets. The M4SD-L combines a wide range of innovative Griffin engineering developments to bring an incredibly well- rounded suppressor to market. The M4SD-L also shows our current customers our continued commitment to the Gate-LOKTM suppressor lineup, and to it’s development and optimization.”
