SHOT Show – Aimpoint

Thursday, January 17th, 2013

You’ve probably seen Darryl Bolke do his famous “throw the sight” trick. The Aimpoint Comp M4 seen here has been thrown 1000 times and is still going strong. In fact, it’s outlived 4 mounts! After this last go, Darryl has decided to retire the sight. Look for a full, in-depth article by Darryl in an upcoming issue of SureFire “Combat Tactics” on the life of a working gun (and sight).

Btw, that’s not Darryl.

SHOT Show – RADAR 1957

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013

This is the new UK Army holster for the GLOCK.

20130115-120112.jpg

It uses the Locking on the Ejection Port System or LEPS and the initial 2000 holsters are level 2 retention.

The holsters will always be in Coyote but after the first 2000 articles, the Brits are moving to a level 3 system with hood and the buckles on the leg shroud will be side release rather than the circular buckles that come with the initial order.

H&K Releases MR762A1 Long Rifle Package (LRP)

Monday, January 14th, 2013

At this year’s SHOT Show H&K is releasing what is essentially an American version of the G28 we wrote about last SHOT Show. The G28 is in turn an accurized version of the H&K 417 used as a gas-piston driven precision rifle by German troops.

HK 762A1 LRP

To produce the MR762A1 Long Rifle Package (LRP) they’ve an standard MR762A1 (caliber 7.62 x 51 mm NATO) semi-automatic rifle and added optics and accessories. To be exact, the Leupold 3-9VX-R Patrol 3-9 x 40 mm scope and mount, HK G28 adjustable cheekpiece buttstock, and LaRue Tactical BRM-S bipod.

The MR762A1 LRP features a Heckler & Koch produced Cold Hammer Forged barrel which is manufactured in Germany and finished in the USA and well known to minimize the degradation of accuracy and muzzle velocity after prolonged use.

Additional accessories and add-ons for the LRP variant of the MR762A1 include an ERGO Pistol Grip from Falcon Industries, the same Blue Force Gear sling used on the HK M27 IAR supplied to the USMC, and an OTIS cleaning kit. The rifle package, complete with one 20 and one 10-round magazine is shipped ready to use with the scope attached in a compact 42-inch Model 1720 Pelican case.

Chris Costa on the Second Amendment

Monday, January 14th, 2013

We are posting many pro-Second Amendment statements. Please take a moment to read this statement from professional firearms trainer Chris Costa. He would also like you to watch this video http://vimeo.com/52009124. He says, “I agree the vid is long but it explains 50 years. 90 min’s is worth my country.”

Over the last few weeks it has been difficult to contain and reconcile emotions with the amount of biased information and misinformation that has been disseminated over the last few months, even years, by the media. If any of my comments come across as callous or insincere, I ask in advance that you please accept my apologies, and know whole-heartedly that my intentions are not to offend.

As many of you know, my family has a proud tradition of serving this great country of ours. My father, as well as his father before him, proudly served in our armed forces. As a young man, I looked up to my father and grandfather, and following their tradition, I too proudly served my country. As a proud Patriot I understand the obligation and commitment of sacrifice for the greater good. Men and women from all walks of life proudly serve this great country of ours, both in times of peace and in times of war, because they fight for the values and beliefs in which this great country was founded. Their sacrifice, laid upon the altar of freedom, was made so that “the right of the people” should be preserved and cherished; not systematically stripped away.

I have four children of my own that I love very much. As a father, it is my proud duty and obligation to protect them. My parents made sure they provided me more than they ever had as children growing up. As a united country, if we are not careful, our children run the inherent risk of having far less and harder times. As a country, it is our duty and a human obligation to protect our neighbor or those who cannot protect themselves.

I believe the linked video below will, in some small way, shed light on the issues this country is facing in addition to our Second Amendment battles. We need to stand together now, or we run the risk losing the greatest nation on earth. I ask that you please watch this ninety minute film, and open your mind to what is plausible. Hopefully this allows you to objectively draw your own conclusion on the issues of medical, education, natural recourse and the economy currently facing our country.

I alone have forty-one thousand followers on Facebook, of which, behind that are over 12 million people that can possibly be reached if the message is passed. One person alone can’t make the difference, and collectively we have to realize that our future and the future of our children are at risk. Many of the issues currently encroaching on our second amendment rights are many of the same hurdles that influence a bigger picture.

-Chris Costa

Eric Kincel Leaves Vltor to Move to Bravo Company

Wednesday, January 9th, 2013

Right after Christmas Eric Kincel announced that he was leaving the company he founded 10 years ago, Vltor and its associate Abrams Airborne. What we weren’t able to say until now is that he was heading to Bravo Company to head up their newly established R&D department in Las Vegas. To industry insiders this move comes as little surprise. Kincel has worked with Bravo Company on several projects in the past and this looks like a great fit. We wish them luck.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

With the New Year comes a new beginning. As you probably gathered from my email address, I’ve taken up a position with Bravo Company USA as the Director of Research and Development. Even though Bravo Company is located in Wisconsin, Paul Buffoni (Pres./CEO) has started a second satellite facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. The LV facility is nothing more than a “Skunk Works”, or a location for Research and Development for the future BCM Gunfighter product line.

This recent move from Tucson was a major decision for my wife and I, but we are excited about the future and the possibilities. I look forward to working with and staying in contact with all my friends and supporters for years to come.

For those of you attending the SHOT Show, I will also be there, but will not be manning a booth. For the first time in ten-plus years, I will get to walk the floor and see the show in its complete splendor. Please email me if you would like to meet up and I look forward to seeing all of the familiar faces of the industry.

I hope everyone has a wonderful 2013.

Respectfully,

Eric S. Kincel

Daniel Defense Torture Test II Premiers Tonight on TAC-TV

Tuesday, January 1st, 2013

Tonight is the premier of TAC-TV’s Torture Test II episode where LAV puts the Daniel Defense DDM4v1 through its paces.

Baselining everything off of last year’s show, they did some crazy stuff to that gun and I was on hand to witness it. Sure, it’s beyond mil=spec but Daniel Defense volunteered for it and was willing to live with the consequences whatever they may be. They froze it, shot it, buried it, drug it behind a truck and blew it up. To find out how it fared, make sure to watch TAC-TV tonight for the premier.
