The Canted Foregrip Mount features a 10 degree cant which, when mounted on a fore-end rail equipped AK-47 accommodates the loading and unloading of magazines. This 2nd generation canted grip adapter comes with a Tango Down Vertical Battle Grip but allows the use of any grip that attaches to a Picatinny or Weaver rail. While designed specifically with the AK family of weapons in mind, it will fit any Mil Std 1913 rail in order to acquire a more ergonomic grip.

Knights Armament Company

The last time we featured Knight’s Armaments was in recognition of C. Reed Knight Jr.’s receipt of a top 10 army invention of 2007 for the M110 7.62mm Semi-Automatic Sniper System (SASS) that was Type Classified by the Army in 2007.

Knights Armament has now broadened their scope to include a fully functional ballistic computer, but this computer isn’t like anything you’ve ever seen. Unbeknownst to you, it may already be in your pocket. It’s an iPhone/iPod Touch application called BulletFlight that costs a meager $11.99. Consider for a moment what the competition offers. Less functionality for a higher cost and in a bigger package.

KAC’s BulletFlight

BulletFlight has been designed to fit everything from the need of the everyday range tinkerer to the functionality demands of the warfighter. It’s a dynamic solution that provides ballistic calculations out to 3000 meters helping you make your shot.

To use it, start with one of several built-in profiles including the Army’s M110 semi-automatic precision rifle, the 14.5 inch barrel SR16 rifle, .50 BMG M107, .308 M40A3, .308 M24, or start from scratch. With your saved weapon profile’s ballistic coefficients you are ready to begin. Next, provide variables such as range, angle of sight, temperature, and pressure. The BulletFlight will provide predicted bullet impact above or below line of sight in distance and MOA along with how many clicks to correct, velocity and energy at target impact and estimated flight time to allow proper target lead.

KAC’s BulletFlight

Overkill? Need the quick and dirty? After building a weapon profile and including environmental variables, switch over to the “Simple” mode. With a standard selection wheel for rapid range-to-target adjustment and wind speed and direction, you are ready to go.

Thanks to a dedicated customer base and the rapid feedback associated with iPhone applications, Knight’s Armaments have been able to pump out multiple revisions in short order.

Check out the newly released KAC Bullet Flight 2.0.0 with a full suite of upgraded functions including manufacturer ballistic coefficients, additional functionality in the simple mode, field table output, and automatic weather data gathering at www.knightarmco.com/bulletflight/index.htm
.
Current and future efforts focus on overcoming platform shortfalls limiting official military use of BulletFlight to include operational temperature, sustainable g-loads, and touch screen limitations of the iPhone/iPod platform.

Keep an eye out for the Knight’s Armament bracket for mounting your iPhone to your Picatinny rail in conjunction with the Otter Case.

Marine Corps Considers Collapsible Buttstock

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

On February 27th the MARCORSYSCOM’s Program Manager for Infantry Weapon (PM IW) issued a Sources Sought Notice for a Collapsible Butt Stock for the M16A4 Marine Corps Service Rifle. The current fixed stock of the M16A4 becomes “an obstacle when combined with the increased bulk of improved body armor”. Consequently, they are looking for something to make the weapon a little more accommodating to different body types.

The Marine Corps’ requirements are pretty straight forward:

– It has to be collapsible

– They want a minimum of four (4) and a maximum of six (6) position stops in the butt stock for adjustment

– The new stock has to be just as reliable as the current stock if not better

It is important to note that there is no solicitation document to actually purchase any collapsible stocks but it is an important first step in that direction.

Milkor USA Mk14 Mod0 Multi-shot Grenade Launcher

Milkor USA displayed the latest incarnation of their rotary 40mm Grenade Launcher at NAVEXFOR. USSOCOM recently fielded 230 of the new Mk14 Mod0 (NSN 1010-01-568-3179). As you can see from the photo, the Mk14 is slightly shorter than the M32 fielded to the US Marine Corps. The Marines currently are looking at an additional purchase to augment he M32s already in service and both the M32 and Mk14 have been offered as candidates.

Milkor USA M2A1 Reflexive Sight

Additionally, the M2A1 Reflex Sight is seeing some success on its own. One customer has already purchased the sight for dual-use on their M203 equipped carbines and Milkor USA is working to enhance the performance of the sight with rifles as well preparing to introduce a new mount for Mil Std 1913 rail equipped weapons.

C.A.T. M4 Tool

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

The M16 family of weapons has been the standard rifle of the Arsenal of Democracy for over 40 years and yet, there have been few attempts at producing proper cleaning tools. To be sure, there are lots of expedient devices such as dental pics, but nothing has ever been specifically tailored for the role. Two Special Forces veterans were sitting around a table discussing just this dilemma. Their concern was that they were employed as small arms marksmanship and tactics trainers and their students couldn’t adequately maintain their weapons. As they began to go back and forth on desirable features for such a tool, a sketch began to form. That drawing became the M4 Tool and those two veteran gunfighters formed Combat Application Tools, Inc.

CAT M4 Features

As you can see in the diagram, the patented M4 Tool features five specific capabilities to clean the M16 family of weapons. It is is American Made and cast from 400 series stainless steel while the bolt cleaning chamber is CNC machined to precisely fit a mil-spec bolt. During a demonstration of the tool on a recent trip to Fayetteville, it made quick work of an outrageously dirty carbine bolt and carrier group. It is also lightweight, compact, and designed to work with the small tool heads supplied as part of SOPMOD.

To order visit www.catm4.com. Combat Application Tools, Inc. is looking for retailers for the M4 Tool.

Additionally, the CAT M4 Tool is available from Blackheart International.
