But, the administration needs Congress to buy in on their plans. Let your legislators know how you feel. Thank you Ruger for being a positive voice for our Second Amendment Rights.

Hydrapak Announces Partnerships with London Bridge Trading and Source One Distributors

January 14th, 2013

This announcement by Hydrapak, may well have some interesting implications for a market long dominated by Camelbak and to a lesser extent Source Hydration. Hydrapak has been around since 2001 and been an OEM provider of hydration bladders. LBT is well known for producing quality load carrying and armor systems and Source One Distributors brings their TLS and prime vendor experience to the table. It looks to be quite a combo.

Hydrapak, a leading global supplier of active-lifestyle hydration equipment, today announced partnerships with London Bridge Trading, a leading equipment designer and manufacturer for the United States Armed Forces, and Source One Distributors, a top military equipment distributor.

The new collaborations, featuring Hydrapak’s ultra-durable 1st Wave technology, make the Oakland-based company a leading supplier of hydration solutions for American troops at home and abroad.

“Hydrapak’s innovative hydration technologies and Source One’s knowledge of military distribution channels and tactical gear will allow us to provide additional assistance to the men and women of our armed forces,” said Vinny Chhibber, Source One’s marketing manager.

“Though our two companies are in a new relationship, Hydrapak has worked with us like we’ve been together for years,” said Vincent Moran, LBT’s vice-president of purchasing. “We look forward to a bright future with Hydrapak.”

Hydrapak introduced its 1st Wave hydration systems in 2011, its first product line designed specifically to the requirements of military, law enforcement, and industrial needs. In addition to reservoirs constructed with extra-thick thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), 1st Wave products also feature TPU- and Neoprene-insulated drinking tubes and dust covers for bite valves – design innovations that acknowledge the harsh environments where soldiers serve.

“We’re a hydration company that’s willing to innovate and capable of innovating,” said Hydrapak CEO and Lead Engineer Matt Lyon. He added that the company’s experience as an OEM provider for top brands such as The North Face, Salomon, and DaKine makes it uniquely suited to design and distribution partnerships.

Check Out American Armor Attire at SHOT Show

January 14th, 2013

American Armor Attire

Last Fall I had to opportunity to meet with a small company in Fredricksburg, Virginia that makes bespoke suits. Granted, in the DC area there are plenty of tailors. What makes these guys different is that they make armored suits. In addition to three piece suits with armor panels, they also make armored dress shirts.

Owners Abbas Haider and Robert Davis began the work as a project at the University of Mary Washington and over time transformed it into American Armor Attire after graduation. Renegade Armor, also located in the area supplies the ballistic material to them. The result is the access to a custom tailored suit with armor built in. These guys know what they are doing. You would never know that the clothing that I was shown was armored. And, their location is ideal. It’s close enough to DC so that they have access to a very large market but far enough out that they can get some work done.

Representatives from American Armor Attire will be available at SHOT Show in the FirstSpear / Renegade Armor booth #8103.

Massif Announces Introduction of New FR Fabrics with WL Gore Membranes Into Their Line

January 14th, 2013

Innovative FR nylon-face fabric provides all the benefits of the best water resistant outdoor fabrics while meeting the ASTM F2302/ASTM D6413 standard for flame resistance.

Massif

Massif announces the commercial introduction of Massif Battleshield and Massif Battleshield X fabrics, two revolutionary new nylon-faced, flame resistant, water resistant laminates for the military and tactical markets.
Nylon garments have a long history of field-proven outdoor performance, yet have never before provided adequate flame resistance. Massif Battleshield and Battleshield X fabrics offer a shift in FR protection by combining filament nylon-faced laminates with exceptional FR protection.

Massif Battleshield and Battleshield X fabrics provide excellent durability, water resistance, breathability, flame protection, stretch, and warmth-to-weight ratio. There is simply nothing like the Battleshield fabrics on the market; they perform as well as other non-FR outdoor fabric in the industry and provide exceptional flame protection.
Massif Battleshield and Battleshield X feature Gore® FR stretch technology, which dramatically increases breathability while simultaneously improving water repellency and water entry pressure. The result is an extremely durable, highly breathable fabric with a superior warmth-to-weight ratio that is very water resistant and fully flame resistant. “Gore has played a pivotal role in providing best in class durable, breathable and environmentally protective products to the U.S. military,” says Mark Miller, Product Specialist at Gore. “We are excited to be working with Massif and bringing this product line to the warfighting community. Unlike any other flame-resistant, water resistant softshell fabrics, Massif Battleshield and Battleshield X fabrics featuring Gore® FR stretch technology compete with the very best technical performance softshell fabrics on the market today.”

Over the past year, every branch of the United States military has been evaluating either Massif Battleshield or Battleshield X fabrics. “We’re getting some very exciting feedback from our military partners,” said Dave Bywater, Vice President of Government Sales at Massif. “It’s gratifying to be able to provide garments and fabrics that improve comfort and durability, increase life cycle costs, and provide the best flash-fire protection possible for our soldiers.”

Some of the key benefits of Massif Battleshield and Massif Battleshield X fabrics are:

BREATHABILITY/COMFORT – With unsurpassed breathability, Massif Battleshield and Massif Battleshield X fabrics can dramatically increase the warfighter’s overall comfort. In high-activity situations Massif’s unique fabrics, in combination with Gore’s breathable, stretch membrane, reduce overheating and chilling from moisture retention and reduces user fatigue, ultimately keeping soldiers dryer, safer, and more effective in a wider range of situations and temperatures.

DURABILITY – The nylon face fabric of Massif Battleshield and Massif Battleshield X fabrics provide superior durability when compared to traditional FR fabrics on the market today. In fact, for its weight, Battleshield is likely the most durable FR fabric on the market today. This extreme durability can significantly reduce life cycle costs as compared to other FR materials.

WEATHER PROTECTION/WATER RESISTANCE – Massif Battleshield and Massif Battleshield X fabrics provide exceptional water resistance by combining Gore’s breathable, stretch membrane with a technically superior face fabric that will not absorb or retain water as with conventional cellulosic-based fabrics.

STRETCH/FUNCTIONALITY – With multidirectional stretch, a key feature of any high-quality outdoor garment, Massif Battleshield and Massif Battleshield X fabrics offer excellent mobility and comfort.

FLAME RESISTANCE/BURN PROTECTION – These truly revolutionary synthetic fabrics have all of the benefits of high-quality outdoor softshell fabrics while meeting the stringent requirements of ASTM F2302/ASTM D6413 and showing extremely low Burn Injury Prediction when tested on a manikin per ASTM F1930.

Massif will begin using Massif Battleshield and Massif Battleshield X fabrics in its Massif Elements Tactical Jacket. Plans for using these fabrics in US military and tactical garments are underway.

GLOCK Opens Online Community Called GLOCK ID Pre-registration to SHOT Show Attendees

January 14th, 2013

If you’re attending SHOT Show and are a GLOCK enthusiast, then you’re going to get a chance to be one of the first to sign up for their new online community; GLOCK ID. They released this earlier this morning.

Today GLOCK, Inc. announced a brand new, exclusive online community for gun enthusiasts and loyal fans, GLOCK ID; pre-registration for access is now open. The community offers members several key components:

-a virtual gun safe to keep track of range time, cleaning dates and more;
-training lessons;
-a community Q&A for peer discussion;
-an engaging process for earning points and ‘patches’ to rank up and earn GLOCK rewards.

GLOCK ID members have the opportunity to contribute and participate with other GLOCK enthusiasts while earning points, which ultimately lead to GLOCK rewards that can only be earned by interacting with GLOCK ID and its members.

“GLOCK ID was created specifically for our enthusiast communities,” noted Josh Dorsey, GLOCK Vice President. “Those key audiences value our brand commitment to excellence and know that GLOCK has proven worthy of their investment. The community fuels the GLOCK brand advocacy through ranks and rewards and is designed to increase customer engagement and online activity.”

The ranks and rewards structure encourages competition and engagement. By participating in various activities (watching a training video, answering fellow members’ questions, logging time at the range, etc.), members of GLOCK ID can earn patches. Those patches translate into points, which then designate a member’s rank within the community. Finally, those rank levels determine tangible rewards from GLOCK.

The pre-registration process will continue until the initial community launch in February 2013, and a limited number of memberships are available. First access was given to GLOCK’s social media fans on the company’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Those who pre-register at the Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Tradeshow (“SHOT Show”, January 15-18, 2013), are guaranteed early access to the community and an exclusive “Early Adopter” patch, as well as the chance to win a GLOCK pistol (eligibility to win a GLOCK pistol available only to SHOT Show attendees) and a personal voicemail recorded greeting from R. Lee Ermey, “The Gunny”. Those who pre-register after the Show, but before the launch date, will also receive the exclusive “Early Adopter” patch.

Visit GLOCK at the SHOT Show, in booth #12254, January 15-18, 2013 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center, in Las Vegas. The conference is the largest and most comprehensive trade show for all professionals involved with the shooting sports, hunting and law enforcement industries. It is the world’s premier exposition of combined firearms, ammunition, law enforcement, cutlery, outdoor apparel, optics and related products and services.

Today GLOCK, Inc. announced a new addition to its pistol lineup – the GLOCK 30S. The G30S is easy to use, easy to conceal and tough to contend with.

“The G30S platform has been more than a year in the making,” explained Josh Dorsey, GLOCK Vice President. “Our original request from the field – particularly from law enforcement – was to have a more concealable .45 that still carries 10 rounds, so we utilized the G30 SF frame after it was thoroughly tested, presented and accepted as the desired frame for the G30S.”
