Top Shelf , Bomb Proof 308 Rail

Posted by Bill | (Posted on 4/27/2018)

The rail is very nice, very detailed. I really like the barrel nut/mounting interface. Once this is all locked down it is extremely rigid and feels bomb proof. Every detail of the piece is done nice right down to the inside profiles of the rail. The shape and size fits the hand perfect, it’s not even close to bulky like most 308 rails. The rail itself feels light but solid, the barrel nut is long and locks down nicely with the provided tool. The box came with an excellent instruction sheet, one page straight forward……it’s worth every penny but we all wish things were cheaper….however the craftsmanship gives me no remorse

Centurion Arms CMR Now Offered In New Lengths

Friday, May 23rd, 2014

Centurion Arms builds one heck of a rail. Definitely worth checking out. Not only does he build an awesome product but Monty Leclair is a great guy.

Centurion Rails

Friday, May 23, 2014 – Morgantown, IN. – Centurion Arms, LLC announces that the widely popular Centurion Modular Rail (CMR) is now available in two new lengths: 9.5” and 11”.

Their patent-pending CMR rail system is a lightweight, rugged, one piece, free float hand guard that when installed, gives the upper a continuous 12 o’clock rail. The CMR system clamps to a proprietary barrel nut that can be installed on all AR15, M4, and M16 type weapons systems. It was designed with the top 1913 rail for mounting the most common accessories, yet does away with the need for 1913 rail at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions. This allows for accessories to be directly mounted to it with a dedicated, simple, light-weight, mount. However, it does allow for 1913 rail to be added, if needed, for some less common accessories.

Additionally, Centurion Arms built in anti-rotation QD sling swivels in 4 positions. The main objective is to have a smaller, lighter weight, more ergonomic, hand guard that maintains or enhances functionality for the end user.

SHOT Show – Centurion Arms

Centurion Arms has introduced a new rail for 7.62 guns. It is a round modular fire arm that incorporates a full length Picatinny rail along the top. It utilizes a proprietary nut to attach, leaving a free float barrel. In addition to positions that accept rail sections where you want them, the rail also features QD sling attachment points at the barrel and receiver ends of the fore end. This first run is for the DPMS system but look for Stoner- style system compatability soon. Also a slightly scaled down version for the 5.56 is in the works.

Centurion also offers their own attachment for the SureFire Scout Light. It is reversible and mounts directly to the rail. In fact, you don’t require a Picatinny rail section to attach most accessories. And they are working toward eliminating redundant, unneeded 1913 rail segments wherever possible.

C4 Free-Floating Railed Hand Guard System

Monday, October 18th, 2010

Centurion Arms LLC recently introduced their new C4 Free-floating Railed Hand Guard System. Available in 7, 9, 10, and 12-inch lengths, each C4 System provides an uninterrupted 12 o’clock mounting rail, featuring limited-rotation quick-detach sling swivel mounting cups on both sides, full Mil-Std-1913 compliance, and is compatible with many brands and types of protective covers. The C4 can be installed onto a standard AR-15/M4 barrel nut without modification, and for added rigidity an optional extended barrel nut is provided with 10 and 12-inch versions. Built-in tabs aid in assembly and prevent twisting of the hand guard under rough handling. The C4 System can be ordered directly from www.centurionarms.com.

Lightweight Hammer Forged Barrels from Centurion Arms

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Centurion Arms has just announced a new line of hammer forged barrels. Just like in the load carrying world, with the advent of modularity, small arms have become overloaded and a movement has formed to begin taking the weight off the rifles. One of the easiest means is to remove unneeded accessories, or to combine functionality into fewer items. Another move has been to produce lighter barrels. One way this is possible is through the hammer forging process.

Hammer forging is a process in which a drilled and reamed blank has its rifled bore and chamber formed by swaging. During production of the barrel, the internal profile is formed by a series of opposing power hammers which concentrically “crush” the drilled blank around a precision-ground and hardened mandrel. This process yields an extremely uniform bore with a tough, consistent surface finish on the inside of the barrel. Producers use differing methods of honing and Centurion combines theirs with a specially tapered section of rifling formed during the forging process to improve accuracy. They specified a 1:7 twist rate and a Mil-Spec 5.56mm chamber. Naturally, they chose to finish the barrels with a manganese phosphate finish (Mil-Spec A-A-59267).

Centurion Arms specifies that the hard chromium lining used to coat the chamber and bore is applied to twice the thickness of standard small arms barrels. The actual steel itself used for the barrels is a Chrome-Moly steel alloy specifically developed as a machinegun barrel steel providing increased barrel life under prolonged rigorous firing schedules. The forging process also work hardens the barrel steel resulting in a very durable and much longer lasting barrel. Finally, the barrels are HPT (High Pressure Testing) tested which is a process wherein a proof load rated at 70,000 psi (far exceeding the pressure of a normal round) is fired trough the barrel. The barrel is then tested with a non-destructive process called MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection) to detect any flaws in the barrel extension and barrel from the proof load.

The barrels retails for $325.00. For more information, please contact Centurion Arms at www.centurionarms.com.
