Cocoon MCP3401 SLIM Backpack

Saturday, August 10th, 2013

The Cocoon MCP3401 SLIM is a tech backpack designed specifically for use with a MacBook Pro up to 15″, although other similar sized computers should fit. It features a ballistic nylon exterior, adjustable shoulder straps, an internal documents pocket, waterproof zippers, and gunmetal hardware. The most interesting feature of the MCP3401 is the GRID-IT organization system, a rubberized woven elastic object retention system that securely stores all needed electronic and other equipment. True to its name, it’s only 3.5″ deep fully packed.

Grid-It! is a patent pending object retention system that relies on a weave of rubberized elastic bands to hold personal objects firmly in place. It’s great for use as an insert in bags to organize your kit. It’s uses are limited only by your imagination. Also, Grid-It! is available in a variety of sizes.

Wrap Yourself in a Cocoon

For years I used a flannel travel sheet from Design Salt. Talk about comfort. Design Salt’s unique product line is just as appropriate for vacation as on deployment. My favorite is the Flannel TravelSheet. You’d think that it would be hot in summer but not so. It is very comfortable and convenient in that you don’t have to wash your entire sleep system, you just pull out the liner and wash it. It dries quickly and can also be used for instances where you have to spend the night in dubious sleeping quarters. Like the name, it provides a cocoon.
