Eddie Bauer – Flying Squirrel Sleeping Bag

In our quest to share as many zipper less sleeping bags as possible to our readers, we present the aptly named Flying Squirrel from Eddie Bauer.

 
The materials are top notch.  The shell is a 20D Pertex® Ripstop nylon shell and it features 850 fill Stormdown® insulation.  I allow like the crossover flap design which goes way down to knee level making it much easier to get in and out of.

For tactical use, it’s got one glaring issue; the color. Pimento and Black aren’t perfect, but the concept is awesome. I bought one of these 40 degree bags for one of my sons and he’ll be taking it out this weekend for a test drive. He’s already used it for a night in the couch and really liked how well he could vent, but I want to hear how it works put for a night in a hammock.

Eddie Bauer – Customize Your Microtherm Stormdown Jacket

Eddie Bauer has just introduced a new feature on their site that allows you to customize a Microtherm Stormdown Jacket. Available in Men’s and Women’s versions, you can choose between hooded or standard collar.  In addition to a DWR finish, the jacket offers 800 Down fill.  Eddie Bauer boasts you can create over a million unique variants of the jacket which offers different shoulder yoke, body panels, lining, side stretch panels, zippers, and logos.

  
You can even choose custom labeling on the interior as well as chest and sleeve monograms.

First Ascent Mountain OPs Jacket

The Mountain OPs Jacket from Eddie Bauer’s First Ascent line caught my eye during a recent Christmas shopping excursion to the local mall. It’s as if someone had taken a mechanic’s garage jacket and modernized it…really modernized it.

With a 500D Cordura nylon shell, the Mountain OPs jacket integrates 700 fill goose down insulation and an updated look. It boasts 7 pockets including an angled, flapped chest pocket pocket on the left as well as an inset bicep pocket on the left arm and angled pen pocket on the right sleeve. In addition to slash hand warmer pockets, it also features a single pocket on the interior.

The little details really make this jacket. It includes knit collar and inset knit cuffs as well as a fleece chin cup for comfort in the cold.

It is generously cut and designed to layer. Order your correct size unless you want a slim fit, then go down one size. Offered in regular and tall lengths sizes Small – XXLarge. Smoke Grey with Red accents. Remember, Grey is the new Black.
