Breaking – Magpul Announces Move

Thursday, January 2nd, 2014

Magpul announces their move, going wisely with the split location option. Personally, I see Texas as a risky move in the out years with so much pressure to naturalize illegal workers to citizenship. Based on national trends there is good reason to believe that this would strengthen the Democrat base in that State. Traditionally, Democrats support gun legislation, introducing bills to restrict Second Amendment rights. As for the multitude of doubters and armchair MBAs who didn’t believe that Magpul was actually moving shop; eat it. Having said that, 3 huzzahs for Magpul and lovers of Freedom everywhere.

MAGPUL INDUSTRIES ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR RELOCATION
Company Is Moving Operations to Wyoming and Texas

Magpul Industries announced today that it is relocating its operations to Wyoming and Texas.

The company is relocating manufacturing, distribution and shipping operations to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Magpul is leasing a 58,000 square foot manufacturing and distribution facility during the construction of a 100,000 square foot build-to-suit facility in the Cheyenne Business Parkway. The Wyoming relocation is being completed with support from Governor Matt Mead, the Wyoming Business Council and Cheyenne LEADS.

Magpul is moving its corporate headquarters to Texas. Three North Central Texas sites are under final consideration, and the transition to the Texas headquarters will begin as soon as the facility is selected. The Texas relocation is being accomplished with support from Governor Rick Perry and the Texas Economic Development Corporation.

“Magpul made the decision to relocate in March 2013 and has proceeded on an aggressive but deliberate path” says Doug Smith, Chief Operating Officer for Magpul Industries. “These dual moves will be carried out in a manner that ensures our operations and supply chain will not be interrupted and our loyal customers will not be affected.”

The company began a nationwide search for a new base of operations after legislation was enacted in Colorado that dramatically limits the sale of firearms accessories – the core of Magpul’s business. Magpul plans on initially transitioning 92% of its current workforce outside of Colorado within 12-16 months and will maintain only limited operations in Colorado.

“Moving operations to locations that support our culture of individual liberties and personal responsibility is important,” says Richard Fitzpatrick, Chief Executive Officer for Magpul Industries. “Moving to a true multi state operation will also allow Magpul to utilize the strengths of both Texas and Wyoming as we continue to expand.”

Magpul Enters Dedicated 2-Point Sling Market With MS1

Tuesday, December 17th, 2013

The new MS1 Sling from Magpul is a dedicated 2-Point model that can also be used as a Single Point Sling through the use of adapters.

20131217-181744.jpg

It’s built around their MS1 slider to provide rapid adjustments to either lengthen or shorten the sling with no slipping once set, and no tails, loops, or other potential snag hazards. The MS1 system also has a series of adapters that are sold separately and based on the MS3 and MS4 slings. By adding the appropriate adapter (available in Paraclip or QD) for the sling, you can easily add one-point functionality to your MS1.

They’ve been perfecting the design for some time now and had this to say about development –

In testing, the sling had to survive tens of thousands of cycles in wet, dry and sandy conditions, static load testing without slippage for 72 hours and weighted 6 foot dynamic drop tests. In addition to the controlled lab tests, we also swam it, jumped it, hunted with it, hiked into the mountains with it, and most importantly shot with it in a variety of rugged field conditions

Its design positions the weapon light high and cantilevered forward, at the 11 o’clock or 1 o’clock position, to allow for a more forward support hand position, keep the light tucked in close to the bore, and to minimize barrel shadow. Magpul Calendar Shoot 2014

Saturday, November 9th, 2013

From our friends at Magpul.

For this year´s calendar, we opened up the armory and hired the best in the fashion industry to push the boundaries a bit of what is expected for a Magpul Calendar.

To be honest we weren’t too sure how it was going to turn out, but as the photo shoot progressed we started to realize that this calendar was something special.

The guns looked good and the girls looked great, but there was a sophistication to the photography that had broad appeal beyond the regular “girls with guns” calendars we had done in the past.

From a gritty warehouse shot in a shady part of town with the Ronin Motorcycle to an ultra modern house with backlit plastic walls, all the photographs were shot on location. No studio shots with added backgrounds were used in this Calendar.

Even the cover photo, our model wearing a designer dress while holding a vintage 1921 Colt Thompson sub machine gun, actually walked down a closed off downtown Dallas street to get the shot.

The result is a calendar with some unexpected visual and artistic elements exhibiting the Magpul touch, presented in a package with broad appeal with timeless iconic photography.

2014 Magpul (12 Month) Calendar preorders will start shipping Nov 14, 2013

This year a portion of the proceeds from the calendar will go to the USMC Reconnaissance Foundation. The foundation provides assistance to wounded Reconnaissance Marines and Marine Reconnaissance families. Last year´s calendar raised over $20,000 for charity. Magpul hopes to far exceed that amount this year.
