mc1-anatomy

Mossberg is getting into the sub-compact carry pistol market with the release of the MC1sc. Taking some clear inspiration from other popular carry pistols on the market, the MC1sc is a slimline, sub-compact 9mm pistol with a polymer frame, and flat-profile trigger with integrated blade safety. Both the slide and barrel are stainless steel with a DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) black coating. The magazines that come with the MC1sc consist of a clear polymer body with a red follower, and come in 6-round flush fit and 7-round extended basepad configurations.

Safe Takedown System

Unique to the MC1sc is what Mossberg calls the ‘Safe Takedown System’, which requires the user to remove the striker assembly before being able to remove the slide from the frame. The Safe Takedown System also doesn’t require the trigger to be pulled before the pistol can be disassembled.

In addition to the base model, Mossberg is also offering the MC1sc with TRUGLO Tritium PRO night sights, equipped with a VIRIDIAN laser sight, or with an external cross-bolt safety (seen above).

IMG_0462

The 590M is a box magazine-fed variant of the 590 shotgun. All the standard features of the 590 shotgun are present with the 590M (dual extrators, ambi safety, heavy-walled barrel, etc.), however the magwell features stabilizing ribs that engage with the magazine when loaded to ensure solid lock-up. The magazines for the 590M are manufactured by Adaptive Tactical, and come in 5, 10, 15, and 20-round capacities. They are a double-stack design, with hardened steel feed lips, overmolded grips, a self-lubricating polymer body, and an ASTM-A-228 music wire magazine spring.

The Mossberg 590M will be offered in both a standard and tri-rail model, the later of which includes a heat shield and ghost ring sights. Both models will come with a single 10-round magazine, and are currently in production.

Mossberg Flex System

Friday, January 20th, 2012

You can’t deny that the Mossberg 500/590 series of shotguns are popular for both tactical as well as recreational pursuits. At SHOT Show 2012, Mossberg unveiled their new flex system that allows 11 models of shotguns to interchange furniture. This allows the shooter to configure his shotgun for a variety of uses.

The key to the system is the Tool-less Locking System which consists of a series of three connectors to quickly swap out stocks, forends and recoil pads.

Maybe Hornady’s New Zombie Ammo Isn’t Enough

Saturday, October 15th, 2011

Tactical Fanboy has posted an interesting find; the Hornaday Zombie Ammo video. Considering how many rounds the “hero” had to put into those Zombies to take them down and the fact that he isn’t in the end of the video tells us that that ammo may need some work. Or…maybe it’s just the shooter and his gun.

Here is TF himself wielding the Mossberg 500 Chainsaw Shotgun.
