Magpul Updates Status Of Move – Reveals Nothing…These Guys Are Good

Tuesday, May 7th, 2013

Magpul posted this update regarding the status of their move from Colorado following the passage of a slew of anti-firearms legislation including a new law that makes their flagship product, the 30 round PMAG illegal. Although it’s an update, they reveal no details. Very well played. There may be a future in politics for you after all, Magpul.

We’d like to thank the tens of thousands of visitors to our booth at the NRA show as well as the numerous posters here on our FB page for your support and for the generous invitations to relocate to your home states. While at the NRA show, we had the opportunity to speak with representatives from various gun-friendly states, including the Governor of Texas and his staff. We have some additional visits and meetings that will be taking place in the near future with the short list of remaining potential locations. Numerous preparations for executing the move while minimizing disruptions to production are already underway. As mentioned previously, we have already started moving some of our production out of CO. There are many factors at work in our decisions, including business climate, tax structure, legislative environment, regulatory burdens, culture, workforce, etc., and any decision that did not consider all these areas carefully would not only be ill-advised, but irresponsible to our employees, our customers, and the brand. We are eager to make more specific announcements as soon as we can responsibly do so without sabotaging our ongoing efforts and negotiations, and we appreciate your support and understanding until then.

Magpul Manufacturing PMAGs Outside of Colorado

Thursday, May 2nd, 2013

Making good on their promise to leave Colorado if the state adopted new laws restricting the rights of gun owners, Magpul posted a simple answer on their Facebook wall earlier this week to a rather rude inquiry by a “fan” who questioned their commitment to their cause.

Stating that PMAG production had already moved out of state, Magpul has yet to spill the beans on where they have moved but my money is on them federating production in several locations. While it may be more of a management challenge, in the long run it can lower risk of future gun legislation threatening the company.

In late April Magpul delayed the announcement of their move out of respect for the ongoing Boston Marathon bombing investigation.

Magpul Releases New Products

Thursday, April 4th, 2013

Magpul has just released several new products including the PMAG 10 AR/M4 GEN M3, MS4 Dual-QD Sling, and the AR/M4 GEN M3 –5 and –10 limiters.

PMAG 10 AR/M4 GEN M3

After several years stuck in development while we worked on the standard-capacity GEN M3 magazine technology, the PMAG 10 GEN M3 is finally shipping. The PMAG 10 AR/M4 GEN M3 is a 10-round 5.56×45 NATO (.223 Remington) polymer magazine for AR15/M4 compatible weapons. Incorporating new material technology and manufacturing processes for enhanced strength, durability, and reliability, the PMAG 10 provides next-generation performance for those needing lower profile magazines.

MS4 DUAL-QD SLING

Filling the same mission requirement as the standard MS3 Sling, the MS4 can quickly switch between one-point and two-point configuration. The MS4 maintains webbing material construction and specifications identical to that of the standard MS3, but features a melonite-finished steel D-ring and two heavy-duty push-button QD sling swivels rather than the Magpul Paraclips. This modification allows compatibility with QD sling cups commonly found on lower receivers, receiver end plates, buttstocks, and many low-profile forward QD Sling mounts, including the Magpul RSA-QD.

PMAG AR/M4 GEN M3 MINUS 5 AND MINUS 10 ROUND LIMITERS

The PMAG Round Limiters install in 10, 20, or 30 round GEN M3 magazines, reducing the magazine capacity by 5 or 10 rounds. Designed for sporting and hunting applications, installation of the Limiter is simple, tool-less, and requires no permanent modification of the magazine body.

Colorado Gov Signs Gun Control Measures Into Law

Thursday, March 21st, 2013

From the very beginning it was an uphill battle stopping a Colorado legislature and Governor’s mansion occupied by Democrats from enacting restrictive new gun laws that are ill conceived and largely unenforceable, so it was really no surprise earlier today when Gov John Hickenlooper signed into law three bills. These laws require universal background checks for gun sales, restrict the size of ammunition magazines to those capable of holding nor more than 15 rounds and make gun buyers pay for their own background checks.

MagPul has sworn to leave their Eerie, Colorado home if the magazine ban became law but not before seeding the state with as many standard capacity magazines as possible before the law takes effect. Now the question is, where will they go? They’ve alluded to multiple locations and if I had a dollar I’d put my money on one of those being Wyoming due to its strong support of the Second Amendment as well as close proximity to MagPul’s current location in “occupied” Colorado. Good luck to my friends in the Centennial State. SSD will begin retrograde operations soon for our personnel behind enemy lines.
