Wednesday, September 28th, 2016Phokus Research Group developed this Dual Zipper Under Armor Deployment version of the Sons Traima Kit for those units who need to be able to access the components of their medical items. In addition to the ability to maintain the kits when items expire, the dual zipper also allows units to update their components with new items. It still fits in the late pocket of the Armor Vest so they’ve also introduced a split seam so the items stay in place.
It’s a great product, but the name is a mouthful and more of a nomenclature than a cool name. I suggested Phokus allow the SSD readers to name it. So here’s your shot to be a marketing genius. Phokus will reward the best name, judged by them, two fully loaded versions of this kit as well as two Shield kits.

ADS Inc / Phokus Research Group / Cardiac Science – AED and Bleeding Control Pack
Wednesday, July 20th, 2016At Warrior East, I found out that ADS Inc, Phokus Research Group and Cardiac Science have teamed up to offer an AED and Bleeding Control Pack solution for wall mount installation. Not that many years ago, Automated External Defibrillators were only used by medical personnel and it was rare to find one outside of a medical facility. Today, they are more sophisticated and found everywhere. They are used to restart the heart after a sudden cardiac arrest which can strike those with a variety of conditions.
Unfortunately, mass casualty events such as mass shootings have become more common over the past few years so it seems obvious to combine a Cardiac Science AED with Phokus Research Group’s bleeding control packs.
In addition to the Cardiac Science AED, the box also contains a kit filled with Individual Bleeding Control Kits consisting of Quickclot dressing, Tourniquet, Z-fold sterile frog gauze, chest seals, medical frog tape, nitrile gloves and a rescue blanket. What’s more, the wall mounted boxes can be alarmed to alert medical and security personnel when they are used.

Warrior West – Phokus Research Groups Helps ‘Stop The Bleed’

DHS has a new campaign called ‘Stop the Bleed‘ and Phokus Research Group has introduced a new line of products for institutional use. Phokus works with the user group to create bundles of their Individual Active Shooter Throw Kits in different configurations. The design is Modular. The Throw Kits attach to the larger bags via Velcro allowing a wide variety of load outs and quick deployment when they are needed. Additionally, each Throw Kit is poly bagged with zipper entry so you not only can see what’s in it, but also maintain it.
For example, the kit above is a bit more extensive and offers additional tools aside from the Individiual Active Shooter Throw Kits. It could be stored at an entry control point.
This is the Active Shooters Bag which might go in a patrol car or stored at a central location on each floor of a building. It can be hung when needed and the six Throw Kits quickly put into action.
Each Individiual Active Shooter Throw Kits contains:
-1 x Tourniquet (CAT or SOFTT-W)
-1 x Combat Gauze
-1 x Chest Seal
