SureFire Adds Two IR-Capable Weapon Lights To Its X-Series Lineup

Monday, September 8th, 2014

X400V_X300V_Salient

Fountain Valley, CA — SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of high-end illumination tools and tactical products, has released two new models as part of its X-Series family of Weapon Lights designed for handguns but can also be mounted to long guns with Picatinny rails. The versatile X300®V and X400®V IRc feature SureFire’s ingenious V-Series head, a sealed, selectable head that contains both a white-light and infrared LED inside, to accommodate missions requiring visible and virtually non-visible (to the naked eye) illumination. By simply pushing and rotating a self-locking selector switch on the head, a user can switch from white-light to IR illumination (for use with night vision devices) on the fly, with no infrared filter required. The X400 model even boasts an infrared laser.

X300V_2014

The X300V generates 150 lumens of blinding, tactical-level light on its white-light setting and 120 mW of infrared illumination when set to IR mode. Light output from either mode is shaped by a proprietary optic—a Total Internal Reflection (TIR) lens—into a high-intensity beam with significant reach and sufficient peripheral illumination for maintaining situational awareness, crucial in military, law enforcement, and home-defense applications.

X400V

The highly anticipated X400V IRc generates the same high-intensity beam at identical outputs in white light and infrared as the X300V, but it also features a commercially available <0.7 mW infrared laser sight, suitable for force-on-force training and ideal for stealth operations using night vision devices. As with all laser-equipped SureFire X400® Weapon Lights, the X400V IRc’s laser-adjustment mechanism uses Nylok® screws that won’t back out from the effects of recoil. And because the IR laser is not visible to the naked eye, an amber-colored LED indicator illuminates whenever the laser is on, to help prevent unintended activation. X300V_1911_Oakley

Like all X-Series Weapon Lights, these new models are constructed of lightweight aerospace aluminum that’s hard anodized with a Mil-Spec finish and are O-ring and gasket sealed for added durability and weather resistance. The X300V weighs in at less than four ounces—including the weight of the two 123A lithium batteries that power it—while the X400V model is just under five ounces fully loaded, so neither model weighs down a weapon. One-finger activation is achieved via a push/toggle switch located on the rear of both lights; optional DG pistol grip and long-gun remote tape switching is also available. Both models attach quickly and securely to both Universal and MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rails, and optional SureFire adapter mounts are available for several popular rail-less handgun makes and models.

X400V_SW_1

The X300V has an MSRP of $389, while the X400V IRc retails for $875. They are currently available for purchase through authorized SureFire dealers and will soon be available direct from SureFire by calling 800-828-8809 or by visiting www.surefire.com online.

SureFire – X300U In Desert Tan Coming Soon!

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2014

Yesterday, we gave you a sneak peek of the new X300U in Desert Tan. Now, we’re offering some shots of the light mated to a DG switch and mounted on a GLOCK 17.

DSC04806

This Ultra version of the X300 weapon light boasts 500 lumens focused by a Total internal Reflection lens. While you’ll find it generally mounted to a pistol, you will also see the X300 as a rifle light due to its compact size. When it is mounted this way, generally, it used with an XT07 Tape Switch.

DSC04816

The DG switch allows you to manipulate the light without removing a finger from your grip. Instead, there’s a pressure activated button.

DSC04852

The DG Switch makes the light much easier to manipulate but takes a little getting used to. You’ve really got to be cognizant of your grip so that you don’t have a light AD. There is a learning curve here and I recommend lots of dry presentation and dry holstering to train that middle finger.

DSC04876

This is a shot of the DG switch. It replaces the battery cover and snaps right into place. It features an O-ring for waterproofness. Look for about 1.5 hours of use with 2 CR123A batteries.

DSC04884

The X300 utilizes the Rail-Lock® system which you can see above. You pull down on the lever and slide the light into place on the rail. When you’ve got it where you want it, simply release the lever which is under spring tension.

DSC04854

Here you can see the High Threat Concealment Gen 3 Hooster which is set up to accommodate an X400 series Ultra light. The mounted X300U fits like a glove.

DSC04867

I’m told pre-orders should go up on the site very soon. The run of X300U in Desert Tan is limited to 500 pieces.

SureFire Releases Reduced-Profile M600V & M620V Scout Light Models

Thursday, August 14th, 2014

M600V-BK_gnurl

Fountain Valley, CA — SureFire has replaced the LED head on its bestselling white-light/infrared M600V and M620V Scout Lights with a new head that’s nearly a quarter of an inch smaller in diameter than the previous one. In addition to being sleeker and reduced in profile, the new LED head also weighs less than the previous version, shaving 1.5 ounces off the total weight of both WeaponLights—a reduction of nearly 20 percent on the M620V and nearly 23 percent on the M600V.

The output and runtime of the new LED head remain the same—150 lumens of tactical-level white light and 120 mW of infrared output—as does the way the weatherproof sealed head, which contains both a white-light and IR LED. To switch from white light to infrared illumination, for use with night vision devices, an operator need only twist the self-locking selector ring on the bezel. No infrared filter, which can be lost or damaged, is required. Switching back to white light is accomplished the same way, only the selector ring is rotated in the opposite direction.

The beam pattern of the new LED head, shaped by a proprietary Total Internal Reflection (TIR) lens, is also similar to the beam created by the previous head, with significant reach and plenty of surround light for maintaining situational awareness. But with a smaller diameter and reduced profile, the new head is less likely to snag or bang into an object. And with less weight and bulk added to the WeaponLight, the new M600V and M620V Scout Lights help keep a weapon maneuverable.

Aside from the new LED head, the overall design of the M600V and M620V remains the same.
They’re still constructed from aerospace aluminum, coated with Mil-Spec hard anodizing, O-ring and gasket sealed for weatherproofing, and can be activated via either a tailcap click switch or an included remote pressure-pad switch. They both quickly and securely attach to MIL-STD-1913 rails, the M600V via a thumbscrew clamp and the M620V via SureFire’s proprietary Swing-Lever™ clamp, which attaches to even out-of-spec rails.

The M600V and M620V are part of SureFire’s V-Series of WeaponLights, which feature selectable LED heads that generate both white-light and infrared illumination. Invaluable in both military and law enforcement applications, SureFire offers more of these “dual-spectrum” WeaponLights than any other manufacturer. The M600V Scout Light has an MSRP of $485, while the M620V retails for $595.

SureFire Unveils Best-in-Class Rechargeable Duty Light For Patrol Cops

Friday, August 8th, 2014

Fountain Valley, CA — SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of the world’s finest illumination tools and tactical products, has released its latest rechargeable flashlight designed to meet the demanding needs of law enforcement patrolling our streets. The compact P1R Peacekeeper™ is an everyday duty light with two useful output levels: 600 blinding lumens on high, and 15 lumens of extended-runtime on low output for close-up tasks. Its compact, knurled body also makes the P1R ideal for use with a handgun. There is also a single-output Peacekeeper Tactical.

P1R

Both Peacekeeper models are powered by a readily available 18650 lithium-ion rechargeable battery that’s easily charged using either an AC wall charger or a DC vehicle charger, both included with the light. It can also be powered by two disposable 123A lithium batteries, if necessary, when there isn’t the time or opportunity to charge between uses.

“Working in the law enforcement field, you soon realize nothing is for certain, perhaps with the exception of day and night occurring,” said Jason Davis, an active-duty patrol officer in Southern California. “While working within an environment with diminished or no light, you quickly learn about introducing light into your world. The Peacekeeper is the flashlight that I rely upon whenever there is a need to flood an area with intense light. From lighting up a room or yard or into a vehicle or on a person, the Peacekeeper’s 600-lumen beam is enough to control your scenario.”

P1R_Peacekeeper

Weighing in at just over 6 ounces and measuring just over 5 inches in length, the palm-sized P1R packs a lot of punch without being a burden to carry. Its Mil-Spec hard-anodized aluminum body is durable and lightweight and fits in many standard flashlight holsters. O-ring and gasket seals keep out dust and moisture, while a coated, tempered window maximizes light transmission and protects the reflector and LED. Built for law enforcement, the rugged, dual-output Peacekeeper delivers exceptional performance for both tactical and non-tactical applications.

There are two models. The P1R Peacekeeper features a dual-output click-type tailcap switch. The first press or click provides 600 lumens of maximum output to meet most unforeseen emergencies; return to off and press or click a second time, within two seconds, to produce a 15-lumen low-output beam for close-up work with extended runtime. The single-output Peacekeeper Tactical operates by pressing down on the tailcap switch for momentary-on activation, or rotating the tailcap clockwise for constant-on activation. Both versions have an MSRP of $250 and come standard with an 18650 lithium-ion rechargeable battery, AC charger, and DC car charger.
