POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Business Development is expected to meet and exceed all directives, objectives, and corporate goals established by TSSi’s executive team. The Director is also expected to continually drive new business and continue company growth within and outside of typical markets. This position will report directly to the TSSI Vice President of Business Development. Duties include developing a business strategy, management functions, budgeting, and continual growth of Business Development team. The Director of Business Development must have the ability to handle multiple projects and possess the time management skills to complete all tasks on or before schedule. Most importantly this position is directly accountable for continuous positive revenue production, personnel development, as well as, the future success of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Supervise, mentor and develop all departmental personnel assigned.
• Develop new methodologies to capture potential customers regarding equipment and purchasing needs.
• Provide various reports on agreed frequency that reflect the activities and sales of the departmental staff.
• Confer with Vice President of Business Development to develop strategies and procedures to increase sales, expand markets and promote business within all Business channels.
• Assist with the budget planning process as requested by the Vice President of Business Development.
• Provide input on products, market surveys, and strategy within sales procedures as requested.
• Guide and assist Business Development Managers with pricing strategy for Bill of Materials from their client base.
• Assign and oversee contractual, investigatory and task orders assigned to selected staff.
• Act as Capture Manager for large opportunities outside of the current workload.
• Assist when requested with proposal phases, writings, reviewing and editing as directed by the Business Services Section.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships for select manufacturers and representatives.
• Assist peer Directors (Outside/Inside Sales) as needed to keep fluidity and connectivity of the business units.
• Ability to manage departmental monthly pipeline reports and accurately back brief the Executive staff of pending requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
• Must have an understanding of Business Development principles and methods of proposal
development and review.
• Must have an established understanding of Government Sales and Federal Contracting.
• Must have experience working with Department of Defense, Military, Federal Agencies, and Law
Enforcement.
• Ability to provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill
areas.
• Ability to complete work within given deadlines.
• Ability to carry out skillful negotiations.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to use appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to gain acceptance

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Management with a specialization in sales preferred.
• 8 years of related Sales and Marketing Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Minimum of 5 years of Sales and Marketing experience.
• Management Experience a plus.
COMPUTER SKILLS
• MS Office Suite or comparable software, internet search capability and database entry
experience.
• Understanding and experience in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software.
• Experience and effective use of CRM (Customer Relationship Software) software and how it
applies to growing an effective sales tracking system.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, establishing and maintaining sales opportunities to include account management and end user (conventional military, SOF, Law Enforcement or Commercial Business) relationships on a daily basis. BDM’s provide solutions to a customer’s needs primarily through education and awareness of products and services offered by TSSI. The BDM must possess the ability to multi-task and utilize professional time management skills to complete all tasks on or before schedule. BDM’s must present a professional appearance, demeanor and positive can do attitude.
