Always remember handgun skills are the most difficult to attain and maintain so practice them often. We live in a world of CCW in the US so common sense tells you that if you ever need a weapon for self defense it is likely to be a handgun. I believe everyone who is serious about using a long gun should learn how to use an AK; by best estimates 100 million or more have been made so somewhere along the line you will probably run into one. If you decide to trick one out for personal use make sure you don’t lose the ability to pick up a standard Kalashnikov and run it effectively – don’t make your personal one so unique you lose the skillset to employ a rack grade one should the need arise.
