Systems Technology Jumpmaster Simulator

Monday, May 20th, 2013

Not only did Systems Technology, Inc give SOFIC goers some hands on experience with their free fall simulator, but they also exhibited what is in my opinion, the hidden jewel of the show; a Jumpmaster Simulator.

Parachuting is inherently dangerous. That’s why they pay military jumpers $150 per month. Jumpmasters ensure that parachutists conduct correct actions in the aircraft and exit safely. But they don’t receive any extra pay even though they expose themselves to additional hazards in the performance of their duties as seen in this video of a Jumpmaster from the 5th SFG(A) conducting a ramp jump. Fortunately, he wasn’t injured when his reserve parachute deployed, sucking him out of the aircraft.

The Systems Technology simulator relies on fused reality. The Jumpmaster wears goggles that let him see the interior of the ramp simulator. But when the Jumpmaster looks at the blue screen area, a virtual horizon with sky and terrain is projected into his vision.

The simulator allows the Jumpmaster to master procedures in a safe environment and develop skill at spotting without expending valuable flying hours. Monitors can also be configured to see what the Jumpmaster is seeing and virtual parachutists can be added to the mix.

Glockworx to Offer LE Noveske Tribute Slide

Sunday, May 19th, 2013

Glockworx is preparing to offer a stainless steel Noveske Tribute slide for the GLOCK 17L. Limited to just 25, the slides will be ship in mid June, 2013.

20130519-150522.jpg

With an overwhelming interest in the Noveske Shooting Team Memorial slides Glockworx had made for The Noveske Shooting Team, they consulted the Noveske family with the idea of presenting a limited edition of the Noveske memorial Glock 17L slide to the public in order to honor industry pioneer John Noveske.

These slides are individually run and finished by hand and will accommodate any Glock frame in the 17-22, 34-35 and 17L-24 configurations.

50% of the proceeds from the sale of these slides will be given to the Family.

Commenting

Sunday, May 19th, 2013

I am starting to wonder whether some of the commenters actually think about what they are posting or if the is some sort of compulsion at work. There have been some real humdingers lately. I’m not just talking about trashing a competing brand, I’m talking flat out dumb statements. Pig looking at a wristwatch stuff.

I have a feeling that there are norms at work here. What I might find appallingly stupid, another might consider ok to ‘say aloud.’ With the age of Twitter and Facebook, many feel that they can just post whatever silly thought crosses their mind, combine that with the relative anonymity that SSD offers and voila; recipe for stupidity.

What do you guys think?

See, the Tactical Tailor SBR Bag Really Isn’t That Big

Sunday, May 19th, 2013

When I first wrote about the Tactcal Tailor SBR Bag, readers commented that it looked HUGE, so I asked KitUp!’s Dave Reeder to model it.

See, it’s not so big after all.
