M3GI 2014 App Offers Access To Action

M3GI 2014 Logo Final

(Wilsonville, OR) – If you can’t reach central Oregon to attend Crimson Trace’s Midnight 3-Gun Invitational that is now underway, a new FREE app (M3GI 2014) offers the next-best-thing—instant access to the action and scores. Attendees at the range will be uploading images from their phones and tablets and providing details on behind-the-scenes action.

“As the Midnight 3-Gun Invitational has grown from an ambitious idea to one of the most talked about events in the shooting sports industry, so has the way we support the event,” said Gary Killingsworth, Crimson Trace Digital Marketing Manager. “The M3GI mobile apps were created to help competitors and fans stay up to date on all the action. Since the M3GI takes place in the high desert – and at night – a mobile app is a great way to keep everyone up to speed as its happening. We’ve also focused plenty of energy on making sure the app is ‘social’ and allows competitors and media members to share images and social media posts to those who can’t be there.”

The M3GI 2014 App is in the Apple Store for iPhones, smartphones and iPad tablets, Google Play Store for Android smartphones and tablets and for Kindle Fire tablets through the Amazon App store. Visit www.m3gi.com and look on the left side of the page to be directed to the apps.

The M3GI 2014 App provides details on the schedule, match rules and info, details on the 40-plus sponsors, stages diagrams and details, and a range map with directions to the COSSA range. There is also a social media portal—Live Album—where visitors can see images posted by contestants, including the guns they’ll be shooting and details as they prep for the match. There will also be live Instagram, Facebook and Twitter feeds from the event to keep followers—and e-spectators—up to date.

The Midnight 3-Gun Invitational is underway in central Oregon. Additional details can also be found at http://www.m3gi.com.

S.O.Tech – Cobra SIS Overview Video

Friday, August 15th, 2014

S.O.Tech has released a video detailing their Cobra SIS system.

The Cobra SIS Armor Carrier was developed in collaboration with members of the LAPD’s Special Investigation Section, hence the SIS moniker. Made from 1000D Cordura nylon, the SIS Armor Carrier is designed as a low-profile carrier for both soft armor and plates. A built-in weapon sling allows the user to secure their long gun, while an adjustable cummerbund and non-skid upper chest keeps the vest from shifting and the weapon secure while firing. The SIS Armor Carrier can be ordered as just the vest, or with the full complement of SIS kit parts, which can also be ordered separately for full customization based on end-user needs:

– Double pistol magazine pouch
– Eye protection hard case
– 40mm and flashbang grenade pouch
– Pistol holster
– M4 magazine shingle pouch
– Handcuff pouch
– Rapid response bandoleer
– Flat IFAK
– X26, X26P, and X2 Taser holsters

Made in the USA with American materials.

Shockwave Technologies – Blade AR Pistol Stabilizer

Friday, August 15th, 2014

DSC09926

Shockwave Technologies has come up with their own take on the AR-15 pistol stabilizing brace, the Blade AR. The Blade AR incorporates a flexible stabilizing fin, which the user rests against the inside of their forearm when in use. This stabilizes the firearm in the horizontal plane, and the friction created between the forearm and fin stabilizes the firearm in the vertical plane. Color me skeptical. I will be surprised if BATFE approves this.

The user can also wrap a standard sling around the Blade AR to further stabilize the firearm.

Shockwave Technologies plans to release the Blade AR beginning in October of this year.

This is how you do it. On August 8th, the US Marine Corps Uniform Board released a survey seeking input about three proposed uniform changes for active duty and reserve Marines. The three changes are:

– Altering the color of enlisted rank insignia from black to brushed brass for Woodland MARPAT utilities.

– Establishing the Sam Browne belt as a mandatory accessory for officers wearing the blue dress A/B.

– Shifting the annual seasonal uniform synchronization date from Daylight Savings Time to the First Monday in April for Summer uniforms and the first Monday in October for Winter uniforms.

The survey, which is the second step in the Uniform Board process, is planned to run through August 29th. Active duty and reserve Marines may take the survey at www.manpower.usmc.mil/application by selecting the Marine Corps Uniform Board #214 survey.
