Tuesday, May 19th, 2015

The Turtleskin Snake Armor has been tested against all biting snakes in North America, most in Australia and several in Africa.  They are currently selling them to Border Patrol as well as utility workers and outdoorsmen in snake ridden areas.

Available in gaiters and chaps, the Snake Armor will also protect the wearer from brush.  Made in USA, they’ve been submitted to the Soldoer Enhancement Program.

SOFIC 2015 – Team Wendy Scalable Helmet Armor Appliqué

Tuesday, May 19th, 2015

You may notice a tin crack along the crest of this Team Wendy EXFIL Ballistic shell. That’s because it consists of fore and aft ballistic appliqués.

Team Wendy hasn’t named the appliqué yet but they are keeping an eye on SOF ballistic requirements with this development.

SOFIC 2015 – Revision’s Kinetic Operations Suit

Tuesday, May 19th, 2015

Based on development of USSOCOM’s TALOS program, the Kinetic Operations Suit from Revision Military incorporates a variety of technologies.

Most obvious is the distinctive Armageddon camouflage pattern.  The operator wears the Prowler exoskeleton powered by Revision Sharepack.  The exoskeleton bears the weight of the system as well as ancillary mission equipment. And can be up armored with XSAPI level plates as well as frag protection on the lower leg.  Up top is the Vertical Load Offset System which equates to zero helmet weight born by the operator’s neck.  The ballistic helmet is 100% polyethylene with cutout for use with augmented vision systems. The ensemble also includes a scalable armor vest that goes from 18% vital area chest coverage all the way up to 60%.

SOFIC 2015 – VBSS Robot from Helical Robotics / MATBOCK / Kopis Mobile

Tuesday, May 19th, 2015

Just when you think you can pin MATBOCK down they do something like this.  As former SEALs, the maritime environment is their domain and the necessity of a way to scale the sides of ships was the inspiration for this new VBSS robot.
MATBOCK teamed with Helical Robotics who holds four patents on robots that can scale vertical obstacles. Then, they worked with hometown team Kopis Mobile to integrate streaming video. the result is a robot that will go right up the side of a ship’s hull to emplace hooks and ladders as well as conduct reconnaissance.

The Incog Shadow is a weapon light capable IWB holster built in collaboration between G-Code and Haley Strategic. The Incog Shadow is offered with both a stand alone single clip system and a dual clip system compatible with Incog mag caddies. Like all Incog holsters, the Shadow is offered with either a camo or Tactical Fuzz laminate. Tactical Fuzz is a “suede like” synthetic laminate which reduces noise during movement, reduces the holster’s reflective signature, and presents a “softer” surface against skin. Tactical Fuzz is offered in Black, Tan, Slage-Blue, and Grey.

The Shadow is being offered for the Glock 17 and 19, H&K VP9, and 4.5″ S&W M&P in 9mm and .40 S&W. The holsters accommodate the SureFire X300 and X300 Ultra Weapon Lights.

SOFIC 2015 – Blue Force Gear

Tuesday, May 19th, 2015

While located at an offsite location, Blue Force Gear is very much here at this year’s SOFIC. They debuted their “wall of gear” and a couple of things caught my eye.

First off is the Triple M4 Mag Now! Pouch hitting the site for sale within the week.
Next is the Water Bottle Pouch that is currently available for agency purchase.  It holds both 1 Qt canteen and Nalgene bottle.

Seen here are MultiCam Tropic and Arid examples.  The matching trims and pulls aren’t in yet so these protos use standard MultiCam.

Like all BFG products these are Made in USA and incorporate MOLLEminus features as well as Helium Whisper technology.
