Wednesday, May 9th, 2018

Physical and emotional stress among veterans and active duty servicemen has reached epidemic levels.

We’ve all seen it, fellow Veterans who are suffering. Warrior 2 Warrior offers de-institutionalized and non-threatening approach to help reduce stigma.

They offer intensive physical rehabilitation and peer to peer mentorship along with personalized secondary services.

Their plan is to create what they refer to as “Resilience Ranch” which will resemble a forward operating base: simple dirt roads, trailers, fire pits, tents. This rustic austerity will evoke the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, and prime warriors to engage with the past in a safe environment.

They’re currently partnered with:

Cubesmart

April Designated Month of the Military Child

Thursday, April 5th, 2018

April is the Month of the Military Child, a time to recognize and appreciate military children for their service and sacrifice. Military children live with on-going challenges presented by frequent moves, family separations, and life transitions. They move 6-9 times during their K-12 years. In their own way, military-connected children serve, too.

As a demographic, military-connected children number almost 4 million, 75% of whom are school-age. Almost every school district in America includes military-connected children and youth whose parents serve or served in the Active, Guard, and Reserve components of the Armed Forces. Over 80% of these students attend U.S. public schools while less than 8% attend Department of Defense schools.

The Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) works to address the needs of military-connected children through programs, services, and resources designed to enlighten and empower parents, educators, other supportive adults and the students themselves. After more than a decade of war, the well-being of all military-connected children and youth depends on a strong, consistent network of supportive adults. Parents, teachers, mentors, and role models play a pivotal role in the life of a military child.

You can make a difference in the life of a military child by seeking opportunities to acknowledge their sacrifice, volunteering for organizations that support them, and recognizing their contribution to the nation. MCEC invites everyone to wear purple on Friday, April 13th, as a visible gesture of support for military kids, and to financially support MCEC in our endeavors to ensure military-connected students overcome challenges to become college, workforce and life-ready.

The Military Child Education Coalition serves the children of those who serve us all and encourages efforts that strengthen our military children and ensure opportunities for their quality education.

MultiCam Announces Charity Partnership with Warriors Heart

Monday, March 26th, 2018

Brooklyn, NY – March 26, 2018 – MultiCam®, the combat-proven, complete family of concealment solutions for those who demand the best, have announced a strategic partnership through GoFundMe, with Warriors Heart, a public-private funded treatment facility with a mission to provide treatment for those who put their lives on the line for our safety.

Soldiers, law enforcement officers and first responders face many challenges in their careers. They often put their lives on the line to protect others and must so with little to no regard for their own safety. However, for many in those professions coming to grips with the stresses of their service sadly often leads to addiction. The Warriors Heart facility in Bandera, TX helps this unique community find the support they need.

Founded by three respected military service members, with decades of combined experience, Warriors Heart provides a peer-to-peer-based solution to help the over 13.3 million American Military, Veterans, Law Enforcement and First Responders faced with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), alcohol addiction, prescription/ drug addiction, and mild TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury).

Realizing that warriors are found along many walks of life; from firefighters to EMT, Military, and Law Enforcement, the goal of Warriors Heart is to provide the support system that Warriors need to return to a balanced, healthy lifestyle free from addictions and harmful patterns of behavior. Those in career paths that require a great deal of self-sacrifice are often more susceptible to depression and related issues, which can lead to dependence or addiction on substances like alcohol and prescription drugs. Warriors Heart helps reintroduce purpose into the lives of those who’ve served and continue to serve their country and their community.

“We at MultiCam® recognize where we would be, if it weren’t for the sacrifices our Military and Law Enforcement personnel, and we want to help Warriors Heart achieve their mission,” stated MultiCam®, Brand Manager, Ernesto Rodriguez. “Warriors Heart is an incredible organization that tirelessly works to support those returning to a life they no longer know. We are honored to partner with such a selfless organization, which truly understands what it means to sacrifice.”

MultiCam® has proudly supported the men and women in uniform, as well as their families, for their sacrifices in ensuring the protection of our freedoms. It is MultiCam®’s goal to focus their efforts on raising as much money as possible for the Warriors Heart through its marketing channels including its brand ambassadors on Team MultiCam®. Erik Agazim to Launch Law Enforcement Charity

Friday, March 23rd, 2018

Erik Agazim, the founder of National Police Ammunition, is celebrating the company’s 9th year in business.

Hialeah, Fla. (March 2018)  – National Police Ammunition, founded in 2009, is focused on lead-free alternative ammunition, specially designed and developed for law enforcement use. In celebration of the nine-year milestone, Agazim is founding EALEO Charities-Erik Agazim Law Enforcement Officers Charities-to give back to the law enforcement community.

The soon-to-be-founded organization will be divided into three main categories, according to Agazim. These will be merit-based scholarships, a foundation for fallen officers, and an equipment grants program. Merit-based scholarships will assist low-income cadets with the tuition and equipment required by police academies.

Meanwhile, the assistance foundation will provide support for fallen officers and their families, through work carried out directly with local police associations. Lastly, equipment grant programs will aid under-funded agencies with the critical equipment and training ammunition which they require.

“I’ve had the honor to work with law enforcement for the last nine years and have learned the challenges they face financially,” says Agazim of the project.

“From young cadets entering academies without the resources to purchase simple items such as holsters, to veteran SWAT operators who do not have the proper equipment, inhibiting their ability to conduct specialized operations, I’ve seen it all,” he adds.

Agazim continues, “National Police Ammunition will donate a portion of its revenue directly to the charity through its new parent company, Defense Engineering Systems.”

Initially, the charity plans to donate $500 each month to the Miami Dade Police Chiefs Association officer of the month, along with a further $1,000 to the officer of the year.

A website is currently under construction which will allow potential scholarship candidates to apply for student aid, which will be reviewed by the charity’s board. The website will also offer grant applications to agencies for specialized equipment and ammunition needed for additional training.

“Law enforcement has blessed National Police Ammunition over the last nine years,” remarks Agazim.

“I’m excited and grateful,” he adds, “to have the opportunity to give back to their community.”

Erik Agazim’s National Police Ammunition is already heavily involved with a number of local law enforcement charities and associations.

The company currently sponsors the Florida Police Athletic-Activities League, the Michael Callin Memorial Scholarship Fund, and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

The Miami-based ammunition specialists are also proud members of the Miami Dade County Association of Chiefs of Police, the Florida Police Chiefs Association, the Florida Highway Patrol Command Officers Association, and the Florida Sheriffs Association.

Morgan Helps Veterans Challenge for Paralympian Dream

Thursday, March 15th, 2018

World leading composites and defence systems manufacturer designs and builds two bespoke sit skis, in time for Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Paralympics.

When Steve Arnold and Scott Meenagh joined the Armed Forces, it is probably fair to say that they would not have thought that they’d be competing in the 2018 Winter Paralympics being hosted in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Both Steve and Scott are double amputees, caused by injuries in the line of duty. They are being supported in their pursuit for Paralympic selection by a partnership between Help for Heroes and the Armed Force Para-Snowsport Team. If successful for selection, Steve and Scott will be the first Para-Nordic skiers to represent GB at the Paralympics for 20 years.

Scott was part of the recovery operation in Afghanistan when he stepped on a roadside IED (Improvised Explosive Device). Steve Arnold was serving as a Staff Sergeant that was leading a search team in Afghanistan when he also lost both of his legs in an IED explosion.

Even though both members have suffered life-changing injuries, they now find themselves on the verge of qualification for the Paralympic Para Nordic Skiing event, thanks to some help from the Composites and Defence Systems business of Morgan Advanced Materials.

Morgan was approached by Elizabeth Winfield, Chief Operating Officer for Armed Forces Para-Snow Sport, and Jayne Kavanagh, Performance Pathway Manager at Help for Heroes, in September 2017 to design and manufacture bespoke sit skis for Scott and Steve. Morgan’s relationship with the Armed Forces follows on from its recent win of the £4.49m contract to supply body armour to the Ministry of Defence.

Qualification for the games started in December 2017. This gave the manufacturer just six weeks to produce the sit skis in time for training and qualification.

“We were incredibly honoured to have been able to help Scott and Steve on their extraordinary Paralympic journey”, said Greg Aratoon, Principal Engineer at Morgan Composites and Defence Systems.

“Before we got involved, they were using off the shelf ice hockey seats that were ill-fitting and heavy. We knew that we’d be able to help create bespoke, lightweight sit skis which would give them the best chance of reaching Pyeongchang”.

Nordic Para Skiing tests athletes on varying inclines, while they also must roll the sit skis over to shoot at targets and then sprint to the finish.

To design the new seats, Morgan started by 3D scanning the team members. This helped get Scott and Steve’s unique measurements for the seat moulds and tailor the designs where waist strapping would be situated.

The sit skis were then manufactured out of mainly carbon fibre. The seats weighed less than 1kg each when finished, not including the metallic frames.

“Not only does the seat look good and make us look professional on the racing circuit, but it is also very robust and has held up to me putting it through its paces”, said Steve Arnold.

“I feel very secure in the seat and all the strapping was designed to keep me in when in the prone shooting position, making it feel like part of my body while skiing. I believe the seat has helped me with the marginal gains you need when competing in high level sport”.

Special thanks go out to companies involved in the project, including Morgan Advanced Materials Base Group, Pattern & Moulds, SHD Composites and ADV Metal Craft.
