Introducing the ACE Riv by GiantMouse Knives

Thursday, December 17th, 2020

East Lansing, Michigan, December 16, 2020 – Good things really do come in small packages. GiantMouse Knives released the Riv today, a compact folder in the company’s ACE line of folding knives. The Riv was designed in the lines of the Biblio but is a completely new design with its own feel and expression.

Why a compact knife? The knife’s designers, Jens Ansø and Jesper Voxnaes, grew up out in nature working the forest and doing chores around the house. They were taught to carry a fixed blade and a small folder. The fixed blade will perform most of the cutting tasks, but the folder should be kept razor sharp for finer tasks and be your back-up, if the fixed blade is lost or dulls. The Riv fills that role perfectly.

The Riv is available in Titanium, Brass, and Green Canvas Micarta. While the green canvas Micarta version will be sold through dealers, the brass and full Ti versions are GiantMouse exclusives, and will only be available on the GiantMouse website. All feature Elmax blade steel, ball bearing pivot, and titanium frame lock.

The blades are 2.44″ (62mm) in length, measured from tip to forward-most aspect of the frame, and are 0.118″ (3mm) thick. The handles are 3.375″ (85.73mm) long. Giving the Riv an overall length of 5.75″ (146mm).

For pricing and full specifications on each of the three variants, visit www.giantmouse.com

100% Rustproof, Mini-Framelock the Size of a Dog Tag

This Wednesday, December 16th, 2020 Terrain 365™ launches their DTK-AT mini-framelock folder. A very compact knife that is the size of a standard US Issue “Dog Tag”. Featuring their rustproof and edge-holding Terravantium™ blade, this mini-framelock folder can be used as a backup, hide-away, in survival kits/tins, fits in any pocket or can be worn around the neck. The “AT” designation for Terrain 365’s folders indicates a build that uses 100% non-ferrous alloys, are non-magnetic and rustproof. Any knife is only as useful as it is present on one’s person, and the DTK-AT is a very capable EDC folder in a very compact and easy to carry size.

The DTK-AT from Terrain 365 will be available in a fine industrial matte finish.

The team at Terrain 365 states,

“Our company Co-Founder Patrick introduced his first ‘dog tag” sized knife sometime back in 2003. It was a simple design and made of 100% titanium. This new DTK-AT is quite a step forward using modern framelock construction and the 100% non-ferrous and non-magnetic materials Terrain 365 is known for. Using the standard US Military issue ‘dog tag’ as the footprint for our new mini-framelock we came up with this design. It can be put into any pocket, worn around the neck and well suited for pocket survival kits/tins. The same attention to detail and carefully considered manufacturing steps that we put in our full sized edged tools are also applied to this mini-framelock. The DTK-AT is intended as a backup should you ever lose your primary and gives the EDCer that little extra piece of mind. A 100% rustproof blade and handle, a keen working edge that lasts, and a very capable cutting tool in a very compact size.”

The Terrain 365™ DTK-AT will be available for $179.00, at 1:00pm Pacific on their website Wednesday, December 16th, 2020.

PDW Invictus-IBL

Integral Bolster Lock Folding Knife with a Handle Machined from a Solid Block of Titanium

Prometheus Design Werx releases their newest iteration of the Invictus folding knife design featuring a unique handle machined from a solid block of titanium billet. This form of folding knife handle construction required the brand several years and as many machining centers to finally develop, produce, and deliver the highest quality of make in this folding knife. Other high-level details include a Böhler M390 alloy blade, ceramic pivot bearings, G10 scales perfectly matched to the titanium handle, LBS insert, dive watch grade luminous inlays in the dual thumbstuds, and precision machined details throughout this knife. The Invictus-IBL is a purpose driven edged tool painstakingly made with state-of-the-art multi-axis CNC machines and the highest level of precision refinements found only in the best production tools.

The Invictus-IBL by Prometheus Design Werx will be first available with OD Green G10 scales as pictured with other handle options to follow. Due to the complex, time consuming process, and high production costs required to create this version of this folding knife, there are no plans by the company to produce more after this initial run.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“It literally took over 6 years and as many technical manufacturing centers to get our Invictus-IBL to place where it was a replicable and producible reality. Ultimately it was a labor of love and really almost an obsession to get to the finish line and bring them to market. It was one of the very first design projects we worked on at PDW. For years, machine shop after machine shop tried, and unfortunately failed. We refused to give up and got on after it, year after year until we finally collated the right manufacturing network with the knowhow and equal perseverance to see this project through with us. At the end of the day, this is an edged tool with a purpose driven design, but also a great exercise and trial in modern folding knife manufacturing. There is nothing ‘fancy’ about this folder, however, there are a great deal of labor intensive industrial refinements found only in the best tools and machines in the world. The Invictus-IBL isn’t for everyone, but it is for those who have a highest regard and appreciation for expertly made, detail oriented, functional metal objects and tools.”

The first delivery of the Invictus-IBL with OD Green G10 scales will be available for $449.00 on Monday, November 30th, 2020 at 11:00am Pacific via their website, prometheusdesignwerx.com.
