Prometheus Design Werks has just come out with their first in-house knife, The Griffin. Precision machined from Bohler M390, a premium Austrian blade steel, The Griffin is a skeletonized fixed blade design. The blade is 4″ long, and the spine of the blade features PDW’s proprietary Strikeback feature, a CNCed multi-bevel and arch, function-specific design which is intended to effectively strike ferrocerium rods.

The skeletonized handle features dual lashing points, as well as a combination pry tip/cat’s paw nail puller, which has use with opening cans, breaking glass, reusing nails for emergency shelters, and more. Full length jimping insures a solid grip even with a wet hand, and full chamfering around all the perpendicular edges adds comfort and ease in the hand.

The Griffin comes complete with a Kydex sheath with Tek-Lok mounting hardware.

The steel is 80CRV2 and they are available in any of Winkler’s finishes such as the Tan Micarta on the Breaching or the rubber on the Ranger. Naturally, the Breaching element of the breaching model is a distinct element.
