No nonsense, bulletproof, functional fixed blade that embodies the TRICON™ methodology

Mesa, AZ – November 21, 2014 – Monkey Edge announced the immediate availability of the Trident Concepts (TRICON) fixed blade knife designed and manufactured in the USA by Strider Knives. The TRICON model fixed blade was conceived with the goal of producing a simple and streamlined design to facilitate a wide variety of carry options. Whether mounted to a plate carrier, or concealed carried carry in plain clothes, the TRICON fixed blade provides the user with a simple, easy to deploy, defense option.

Tricon_03_web

The genesis of the project:
“While attending a Trident Concepts course, Jeff Gonzales (TRICON founder) and I had a conversation about edged weapons and it turned out nothing out there completely met his needs. I figured I could leverage our excellent relationship with Strider Knives to produce a new model that fit the profile Jeff was looking for,” explained Monkey Edge principal Brady Miller. Eventually, those cocktail napkin sketches turned into prototypes that were then further refined based on Jeff’s feedback. “I was well aware of Strider’s ability to put out top shelf hard use gear so working with them on this project was a natural fit. I am thrilled at how it turned out. The Strider team did an amazing job,” said Jeff.

Why the TRICON is a fixed blade:
Jeff Gonzales explains the effectiveness of the fixed blade: “Folding knives are great and I carry one every day. However, when speed is critical and most times it is, you won’t beat a fixed blade for deployment and access to the vitals”. The concept of the TRICON was to produce a fixed blade that the user could carry literally everywhere. It can go from being mounted to your plate carrier or chest rig to plainclothes concealed carry.

Built in the USA for hard use:
Like all Strider knives, the TRICON fixed blade is made in the USA at Strider’s Escondido, CA facility and comes with Strider’s lifetime warranty. Crafted from premium Crucible CPM S30V stainless steel. The full tang grip is flanked with textured G10 scales that provide a sure grip and are virtually indestructible. The TRICON fixed blade is shipped with a kydex sheath and Bawidamann Blades PUP mounting system. The PUP mount ships with hardware that allows it to be adapted to PALS/MOLLE platforms or belt carry. Additional sheath and mounting options are in development and will be offered at a later date. The first run of the Strider Knives TRICON fixed blade is available now exclusively in several blade finishes at Monkey Edge (monkeyedge.com/TRICON) beginning today at the price of $250.00.

Friday, November 7th, 2014

IMG_9046.JPG

The Sheriff of Baghdad is a street fightin’ man. He’s introduced the SOB PUNCHER which is an exclusive design incorporating what he claims are all of the necessary elements of the perfect Push Dagger. Created as an emergency, tertiary or backup dagger, the SOB PUNCHER is an inside the waistband or belt or hand carried dagger. McPhee says it is best when worn centerline of the body, so in case of emergency it can be grabbed easily with either hand.

My passion for the operators or officers putting their lives on the line started this dagger. It was finished by real world and past experiences of these situations led to the perfect design and storage of the SOB PUNCHER.

Hardcore Hardware Australia – Reverse Grip KALI Blade

Tuesday, October 28th, 2014

photo A2

A new design by Hardcore Hardware Australia, this reverse grip KALI blade concept popped up recently on Facebook. Made from Bohler-Uddeholm D2 tool steel, the depth of the grinds and aggressive profiling necessitated a thick stock to give the blade the best balance. HHA added a large cavity in the handle to reduce weight, without a compromise in strength. As a bonus, this cavity can be used as a storage compartment in a survival situation, when paired with the hollowed out G10 scale grip.

The Reverse Grip KALI Blade will come with an ambidextrous kydex molded sheath with a TekLok mount, Torx wrench, and PVC patch. It will be available in the following colorways:

Black G10 on Black Teflon

Dark Earth G10 on Tan Teflon

Black G10 on Graphite Grey Teflon

Monday, October 13th, 2014

Gerber is displaying several new products but here are three you may be interested in.

First up are the MP1-AR and MP1-MRO are new multi-tools. The AR model is designed for maintenance of the M4/16 family of weapons. It incorporates a full fine edge blade as well as a full serrated blade. It also offers a full maintenance suite including punch tool, scraper, pick, front sight adjustment tool and bit driver complete with 12 bits. To finish it off, it has a spring loaded, forged jaw, needle nose pliers.

The MP1-MRO shares the same chassis as the AR model but it’s accessories are tuned for maintenance and repair operations. In addition the the full fine edged blade, it has a full serrated blade but this one also has a 550 cord hook. Gerber also knows that blades are often used for things they aren’t designed for so they’ve included a pry bar as well as a unique chisel/scraper. There’s a file with units of measurement scale and a lanyard loop. They’ve also incorporated something you don’t often see. The hook can be used to fish lines and pull cotter pins. Naturally, it also has a bit driver with 11-piece set.

The Cortex compact is new to the market. What is unique is that it will accept AA or CR123A batteries and offers three settings; high = 175 lumens, medium = ~100 lumens as well as strobe setting. High will get you 2 hours from a 123 battery. It weighs a scant 2oz. Even with its pocket clip.

Dynamis Blade Now Available for Order

Friday, October 10th, 2014

During Blade Show we gave you a preview of the new Dynamis Blade, a collaboration between our friends Navy SEAL Veteran Dom Raso and ABS Master Bladesmith Daniel Winkler. They’ve known one another for years so when Dom decided to create a fighting knife he immediately turned to Daniel, who has a great reputation in the SOF community for offering high quality, specialized blades.

DA Blade Detail

Blade Specs:

-CPM3V Steel
-3.75″ cutting edge
-Single or double edged, depending on your preference
-Textured rubber handle with subtle Dynamis Shield print for both forward and reverse grip fighting (A Winkler Knives first)
-Skeletonized tang beneath the rubber grip for balance
-Jimping on the thumb ramp, under the hilt, and on the pommel to improve purchase
-Thumb ramp

There is also a Red aluminum trainer knife available with smooth edges.

DA Blade Sheath 2

Dynamis Alliance also worked closely with S&S Precision to offer a new sheath that is responsive, intuitive and optimized for close quarters self-defense and concealed carry. It is designed to accommodate ambidextrous carry (forward or reverse grip) and features rounded edges for comfort while in the waistband.

DA Blade Sheath

Right out of the gate, Dom acknowledges that the clip for the sheath of the Dynamis Blade is based on a Tracker Dan. Simply put, it keeps the sheath in place.

DynAmis is also offering a minimalist sheath for Mil/LE customers that is designed to fit in a vest’s Kangaroo pouch via Velcro (hook on one side and loop on the other) . It’s Kydex with felt lining for reduced noise.

Rifle Dynamics/Emerson Knives Super CQC7

Tuesday, October 7th, 2014

Like so many of us, Rifle Dynamics‘ Jim Fuller relies multiple times a day on his knife as his most basic tool. He related a story on Facebook that he came to use an Emerson Knives CQC7 and how the collaboration came to be.

IMG_7980.JPG

Years ago I picked up an Emerson CQC-7 and found it to be a very useful knife. Sometime later Emerson came out with the Super CQC-7, same knife just bigger. It’s the perfect knife for my EDC. I have been carrying this model daily for about 10 years.

Somehow the folks at Emerson heard that I was using the CQC-7 so Kane Tierney contacted us about doing a co-branded version of the knife and we were very happy to do it.

The results are this beautiful CQC-7 with the Rifle Dynamics Warrior Angel logo on one side of the blade and Emerson’s logo on the other side. Additionally the Silver Gray G-10 grip panels were Cerakoted by Ernie Emerson himself. This is a limited edition knife, only 20 will be available so don’t delay as these will sell out fast.

IMG_7981.JPG

He also states that these are not on their web store as they will go fast, to order send an email to info@rifledynamics.com with “CQC7” in the subject line along with your contact info. They are in stock and ready to ship price is 325.00. Don’t miss out on this one time offer!
