BE Meyers & Co Inc Unveils Commercial MAWL-C1+ Laser Aiming Device

Tuesday, March 7th, 2017

Even when the MAWL From BE Meyers was just a rumor, folks were asking for a commercial model. I know, I was one of them. They had planned for one all along, but wanted to get the initial DA models out to their mission customers. Just now, they announced the availability of a commercial model, available for open purchase.

IMG_0316

This thing is no less than amazing! I had checked out a prototype in a static, lab environment before they were released, but I finally had the chance to put one to work while recently hunting hogs in Texas. The controls are intuitive and right where you need them. What’s more, the beam reaches out, way out, and remains focused and clear. I was able to indicate items of interest for my fellow hunters as well as illuminate areas with IR light where we couldn’t clearly see. It definitely enhanced the experience, making me and my fellow hunters not only more effective, but safer.

Below is their full press release.

The Commercial Market Spoke, and We Listened
Since the release of the MAWL-DA™ laser device to the military and law enforcement community in 2016, B.E. Meyers & Co. Inc. has received numerous requests for a civilian legal variant of the MAWL™. Today we are proud to be able to support these requests by introducing the MAWL-C1+™ commercial laser device. The C1+ variant is not the typical “Class 1” laser device, and this is the first time that a laser illuminator is available to the shooting community that is not only functional for night target engagement at distance, and exceeds the performance of other commercial systems.

IMG_0318

MAWL™ Design
The MAWL-C1+ has all the sought-after ergonomic design features of the MAWL-DA, allowing for quick operation in the dark and on the move. In under a second, using only the tip of your thumb, the laser can be manipulated from near to far and back again between short range, mid-range, and long range specific settings. With low-profile activation buttons centered at just 0.37” above the rail, the MAWL design offers an unparalleled combination of range adjustment and speed of use.

Class 1 Plus™ = Irradiance on Target
The power balance of infrared illumination and pointing irradiance at different ranges becomes critical as commercial night vision quality continually increases, which is why MAWL-C1+ brings settings specific for close range to long range target engagement. By utilizing a uniquely arrayed laser core, the MAWL-C1+ is able to incorporate a laser illuminator capable of outperforming other civilian legal laser systems on the market, and also outperforms many restricted devices. This provides the user with a distinctive and functional near infrared illuminator with unrivaled irradiance on target, allowing for positive identification of objects, the ability to surpass many photonic barriers, as well as faster target acquisition either on the range or in the field. On top of this, the visible green laser pointer in the MAWL-C1+ has selectable low-power settings for close range boresight precision that is also slaved to the near infrared pointers. Once the user has zeroed the visible green laser, the infrared lasers are also automatically zeroed, getting you into the field faster at night. By featuring centralized, co-aligned emitters, the MAWL ensures that all beams are simultaneously on target, regardless of distance.

IMG_0315

Class 1 Plus™ = Beam Clarity
Our beam is our brand, and the incredibly smooth illumination quality of the MAWL-C1+ is the same as in the standard MAWL-DA, eliminating the distracting artifacts (a.k.a. greasy fingerprint spots) that many civilian and restricted laser devices possess. Not only does this clean energy performance improve your illumination of the target area, it makes low Figure-of-Merit (FOM) night vision devices look better by providing increased ambient and directional near infrared illumination.

IMG_0319

Use What You Already Own
The MAWL is designed to be the best laser on the market, and works with and compliments a variety of other high-end systems. The MAWL-C1+ is designed to work with all MIL-STD/NSWC Crane Laser Lead remotes, which include the Unity Tactical/TNVC TAPS™ and TAPS Pro™ series remote cables, the SureFire SR07-D-IT, as well as L3 and Steiner remote activation cables. In addition to this, the MAWL series are designed to work in parallel with the SureFire M300 Mini-Scout Light® to maximize rail space efficiency.

TAPS In Stock and Ready to Order from TNVC & Unity Tactical

Thursday, February 9th, 2017

TNVC and Unity Tactical are very happy to announce the release of TAPS and TAPS PRO.

TAPS_1

For years the industry has struggled with standard pressure switches functionality and modularity. TAPS changes the way with think of pressure switches, and it now becomes a true component of a light and laser. No longer will the operator struggle to attach and maintain their pressure switch to a rail system, no longer will the operator wish he could power a white light and visible laser with one button. TAPS breaks through these long standing barrier’s with a paradigm shift to enable a pressure switch to do what it’s supposed to do; a complete one point command and control system for all weapon-mounted electronics.

TAPS_2

TAPS will be offered in 2 versions, TAPS PRO and TAPS.

TAPSPro Info Sheet

TAPS PRO will be a full programmable switch that mounts directly to any industry standard rail, including M1913 Picatinny, KEYMOD, M-LOK and will run off a single CR2032 battery for over 3000 “device-activating hours” (battery will last for years under normal operation tempo). The switch will operate in failsafe mode if the battery dies or is not present (this means it will work as a standard pressure switch until battery is replaced – user preferences will remain programmed). It features two onboard buttons and two accessory leads. TAPS comes standard with a Surefire Light lead and MIL-Standard / Crane Laser Lead that fits NATO standard lasers from Insight Technology, Steiner, B.E. Meyers, and others.

TAPS Info Sheet

TAPS (non-programmable) mounts directly to any industry standard rail, including M1913 Picatinny, KEYMOD, and M-LOK. No third party rail adapters are needed, keeping the weapon lighter and sleeker. It features two onboard buttons and two accessory leads. TAPS comes standard with a Surefire Light lead and MIL-Standard / Crane Laser Lead that fits NATO standard lasers from Insight Technology, Steiner, B.E. Meyers, and others.

SHOT Show 17 – TNVC/Unity Tactical TAPS Update

Wednesday, January 18th, 2017

During Range Day we mentioned the production version of the Tactical Augmented Pressure Switch. To clarify, there are two variants and externally both look the same because they have the same basic functionality.

The TAPS mounts to M-Lok, KeyMod and Pic rail and includes 7″ SureFire/Insight or 7″ Insight/Insight leads. Once again, it requires a 2032 battery for constant on, but even without it, momentary still works. The only difference from the base model and the TAPSpro is that the pro model is programmable. Consequently, there’s a difference in price. The TAPS is $139 and TAPSpro is $239. Considering other switches are more expensive (and not programmable) that’s not a bad price. Plus, TAPS is 100% Made in USA. Additionally, the switches are available in FDE and Black.

These have been manufactured. The products will be loaded on the website and begin shipping next week.

I hope this answers any questions that have come up.

SHOT Show 17 – SureFire Masterfire

Tuesday, January 17th, 2017

I did not see this one coming. SureFire has introduced a Polymer Holster, designed to be used specifically with pistols equipped with their weapon lights.

The Masterfire Rapid Deploy Holster will fit most pistols because it uses a proprietary cam and lug system to grip the weapon light in two places to offer level 3 retention with primary and secondary lock systems. This means it will also work with suppressor equipped pistols.

You may notice and “On/Off” Switch at the side of the holster. When selected, this functionality will turn the weapon light on when the pistol is drawn.

Above, you can see the thumb button. Once it’s depressed, you rock the grip of the weapon slightly forward as you bring the pistol into action.

The Masterfire is designed to work with these lights. You’re getting a sneak peek at some upcoming Polymer weapon lights from SureFire.

FirstSpear Range Day 17 – TNVC TAPS

Monday, January 16th, 2017

TNVC has made it happen! The Tactical Applications Pressure Switch (TAPS) from Unity Tactical has made the transition from low rate to full production.

It mounts directly to a Mil STD 1913 rail and its two pressure pads are user programmable to slaved or individual modes so you can control both light and laser from a single pad. You can control momentary or constant with the switch.

One lead works with SureFire lights while the other interfaces with Steiner or Insight lasers. It requires a single CR-2032 battery but will still offer momentary On with a dead or no battery.
