Fimbulvetr Presents Lightweight and Heavy Duty News at this Year’s Outdoor Retailer

Friday, January 19th, 2018

The Norwegian brand Fimbulvetr continues its revolutionary path to change the snowshoe category. At Outdoor Retailer in January 2018, the company is introducing 3 major upgrades to their product portfolio.

F01B5B6E-B497-4C4B-99AE-E714674AED23

1. New model TRAILR: Smaller size for mobility and pace
Fimbulvetr TRAILR has been designed and tested over the last 12 months, based on the same premium qualities as every Fimbulvetr snowshoe. The concept came to life after feedback from users in USA and Canada, requesting the unique Fimbulvetr experience on a smaller snowshoe. The result is the slimmest Fimbulvetr model ever, optimized for mobility and speed, on and off the tracks.

2. Launching the A-Series and X-Series
In 2018/19 all Fimbulvetr snowshoes will be available in two sets of technical specifications – the A- Series and the X-Series.
A-Series: Lightweight performance
The A-Series provides a full Fimbulvetr experience, focusing on lightness and flexibility. They come with a new crampon and heel-lifts design, in a super strong and innovative material; Grilamid®. At a lower selling price, the Fimbulvetr brand is now accessible to a wider crowd of outdoors people.
X-Series: Heavy duty impact
The X-series signifies the extreme version of each Fimbulvetr model. At a premium price, they are configured for the most progressive and aggressive use. The snowshoe is produced in a slightly stiffer compound, and includes AISI 316 stainless steel crampons and heel-lifts.

3. The brand new Hugin Binding. An ultimate upgrade for current snowshoes, and available on all new models.
The Hugin Binding is a fully redesigned version of the original Fimbulvetr binding, for ease of use and stability. Straps and buckles are swapped for an efficient lace and lock system. The lacing provides tight, even pressure and support around the foot, kept in place by an intuitive and roust locking mechanism.

Product Description:

KLIM® invented the formula for creating superior technical apparel, which is designed to dominate the full spectrum of environments and situations. KLIM® carries a history and prestige of developing the most technical snow and motorcycle apparel on the market with gear that protects against the most extreme elements while enhancing the user’s experience.

The KTS™ VIGILANT™ Jacket and Pant are weatherproof, flame-resistant (Optional) (no-melt, no-drip, no-fuse), extremely durable and offer operator-specific functionality that will perform as it needs to when the unpredictable occurs.

FLAME-RESISTANT (Optional)
There are a number of reasons to wear flame-resistant garments – from the catastrophic to the negligible and from the frequent to the unlikely; explosion, burning fuel, flame, hot gun barrels, hot vehicle exhaust, hot parts, hot shells, drying near a fire and many other day-to-day risks.

Designed with a flame retardant Nomex® outer layer and a durably waterproof, windproof, and breathable GORE-TEX® fabric, the KTS™ VIGILANT™ Jacket and Pant keep the user comfortable by allowing moisture to escape from the garment. GORE-TEX® fabric maintains protection over time, even after exposure to JP-8, DEET, petroleum, oils, and lubricants.

KIT ACCESS
Preparing for your day brings up several questions: Will the gear fit over my body armor? If I zip up my gear how quickly will I be able to access my kit? Will my gear hold up to unpredictable circumstances? Should I sacrifice comfort or protection?

Now you don’t have to choose. The KTS™ VIGILANT™ Jacket and Pant are designed from the ground up to be compatible with your body armor (specifically, a stand-alone plate carrier) and accessories while simultaneously being weatherproof and breathable.

The front entry panel with magnetic closure allows quick access to center-mounted magazines while the jacket is fully zipped.

The body armor gusset on the back of the jacket prevents any constriction of movement and allows room for your kit on the back of the plate carrier.

Zippered entries allow access to kit on your sides and back without removing or unzipping the jacket.

WEATHERPROOF
KLIM® gear is extensively field-tested in rain, dirt, snow and wind to ensure it exceeds the highest standards and passes GORE-TEX® quality requirements. The KTS™ VIGILANT™ Jacket and Pant are GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY® with all of your kit in place underneath.

DURABILITY
Your TTPs and physical training exist to allow you to react and respond in any situation. Your gear must support the TTPs and keep up with your activity level and the conditions in which you find yourself. The KTS™ VIGILANT™ Jacket and Pant are heavy-duty combat-ready shells.

TACTICAL ATHLETE
The KTS™ VIGILANT’s fit is designed for the Tactical Athlete’s body, articulated to compliment your range of motion and is constructed with Nomex® thread, bartac-reinforced stress points and Superfabric® strategically placed in high-wear areas. The entire system is machine washable and will continue to deliver through many assignments.

Supacat Exhibits at the NIDV Symposium and Exhibition in Rotterdam, 30 November 2017

Wednesday, November 29th, 2017

Supacat, the acclaimed UK designer and manufacturer of special forces vehicles, is exhibiting at the Netherlands Industries for Defence and Security (NIDV) Symposium and Exhibition on Thursday 30 November 2017. Having recently been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise (International Trade, for Outstanding Short-Term Growth), the NIDV event forms part of a global marketing effort aimed to capitalise on recent export successes.

F66E2421-2A82-4EA9-ADEE-A3AB9BA7DB0A

Supacat will be exhibiting their Light Reconnaissance Vehicle 400 (LRV 400) at the event. The LRV 400 provides a highly versatile tactical capability for special forces; it can be transported centrally inside a CH-47 Chinook fully equipped and loaded, making it immediately and rapidly deployable. Also, it has the unique feature of being convertible from 4×4 to 6×6 to provide a flexible alternative configuration that increases payload, capacity and range to meet different operational requirements. Supacat intends to offer the LRV into a number of vehicle procurement programmes in the region and the NIDV show is seen as an ideal platform to showcase the capabilities on offer. Supacat has teamed with Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles Nederland B.V. to offer the LRV 400 into upcoming procurement programmes in the Netherlands. If an order is received, then RMMV will assemble Supacat vehicles in-country.

With over 1000 specialist, battle-proven vehicles in service across the globe, Supacat designed the LRV400 to fill the gap in the market for an agile off-road vehicle sized between its HMT 400 Series (GVW 7600kg) and quad bikes. It carries a crew of 3 or 4 supported by an operational payload of 1700kg with a GVW under 5000kg. It can achieve high speeds on or off road and can operate up to 800km from the point of insertion, offering special forces a true long-range capability.

Phil Applegarth, Head of Supacat said “we have been very successful in winning a number of major export orders for our special forces vehicles in recent years and we would like to capitalise on that success by offering our products more widely”. He added “there are a number of European procurement programmes emerging for vehicles in our capability space and we feel sure our battle-proven products will be highly attractive to the users. Supacat vehicles have already been sought out and purchased by some of the world’s finest units and we would like to add more nation’s armed forces to that list”.

Logos Technologies To Exhibit Wide-Area Sensor for Integrator UAS, Low-Acoustic Bike to AUSA

Thursday, October 5th, 2017

New Redkite delivers powerful imaging with system that fits inside payload bay of small UAS

FAIRFAX, Va. — October 3, 2017 — Logos Technologies will be displaying for the first time at the upcoming Association of the United States Army (AUSA) expo in Washington, D.C., a Redkite wide-area sensor configured for the Insitu Integrator tactical unmanned aircraft.

IMG_4599

“For this AUSA, we will exhibit two versions of our ultra-lightweight Redkite WAMI,” said John Marion, president of Logos Technologies, “our standard podded model, plus a new integrated version — both of which have been recently tested on Group 3 unmanned aircraft systems.”

Like larger wide-area motion imagery (WAMI) systems, Redkite can cover a city-sized area (12 square kilometers) at once—detecting, tracking and recording all significant movers within the scene and transmitting multiple imagery streams to users on the ground in real time. It also stores up to eight hours of geo-tagged mission data for real time and forensic analysis.

This year, Logos Technologies conducted test flights of a Redkite fitted for the payload bay of the Insitu Integrator / RQ-21 Blackjack. This sensor version demonstrated its ability to capture and stabilize WAMI and stream it to multiple handheld devices.

Logos Technologies also successfully tested these capabilities with a platform-agnostic Redkite pod mounted to the wing of a TigerShark, a Group 3 unmanned aircraft system developed by Navmar Applied Sciences Corporation (NASC), in a flight in July.

“U.S. and international customers to AUSA will get to see how powerful WAMI sensors are now moving on to smaller platforms and what that means for the tactical commander,” Marion said.

Also on display for the first time at the AUSA expo is the SilentHawk all-wheel drive, hybrid-electric motorcycle designed to quietly carry troops and their gear over rough terrain and behind enemy lines. Logos Technologies was recently awarded a second Phase II SBIR for further optimization of the motorcycle’s design.

For more information on Logos Technologies and its innovative solutions, please visit Booth 1065 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, October 9-11.

SOFREP TV Releases Training Cell Episode 8: Moto Mobility

Thursday, September 28th, 2017

NEW YORK – September 27, 2017 – In the latest installment of Training Cell, the team takes to the high country of Idaho where they explore the capability of the Christini AWD 450 dirt bike with Jimmy King of Tactical Mobility Training. Capable of climbing steep and rugged terrain and an ideal platform for environments like Afghanistan, the bike pushes the team to their threshold ending with a few falls, bumps and bruises. The trailer can be viewed online, and the episode is live for subscribers now.

Rugged Mobility in Tough Terrain
Episode 8 follows the Training Cell team as they embark on a two-day course in Sun Valley, Idaho with expert Jimmy King of Tactical Mobility Training. A modern war machine, the Christini AWD 450 has the flexibility and maneuverability that operators need in tough, hostile terrain. The Spec Ops vets learn basic platform functionality—various controls, mechanics, starting and stopping—and work their way up to more advanced techniques like body positions, ascending and descending hills, reactionary drills and more.

“Navigating the unpredictable landscape of Afghanistan can be difficult, but with a platform like the all-wheel-drive Christini, it’s possible for military personnel to go almost anywhere,” said ex-Army Ranger Drew Wallace. “Training with Jimmy gave us the opportunity to put the bike to the test and see first-hand its extreme versatility on the hills of Idaho. We all came to the table with varying levels of motorcycle experience but each left with a new and important skillset. It’s hard not to see the value in a machine that can travel where feet, horses or pack animals can’t—especially in a tactical environment.”

Jimmy King is the owner of Tactical Mobility Training, a company based in Fayetteville, NC. Born from the understanding that wars and battles are often fought in remote locations, Jimmy developed a training regimen to educate and mentor operators who use light mobility platforms on a regular basis. Personnel from SOCOM, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and British Special Forces have trusted Tactical Mobility Training’s staff of former Spec Ops personnel to train and prepare their operators for off-road conflicts for over 17 years.

DSEI 17 – Arnold Defense FLETCHER, A Guided 2.75-inch Rocket Mounted On A Supacat LRV 600

Friday, September 15th, 2017

We told you about the Supacat LRV 600 when it was launched at DSEI 15. When we went by to see it this year, it was fitted with a rocket dispenser mounted to the rear roll bar on a swing arm.

Turns out, this is a development of Arnold Defense, a St Louis-based international manufacturer and supplier of 2.75-inch rocket launchers.  The “FLETCHER” is a guided 2.75-inch/70mm Weapon System can be mounted on land-based military vehicles as well as maritime craft.

The FLETCHER concept is supported by a team of global defense industry companies working together under Arnold’s leadership to combine their complimentary expertise which includes Military Systems Group, Nammo and Supacat.

Traditionally, 2.75-inch rocket systems have been used as an area suppression weapon, ordinarily deployed by aviation assets. FLETCHER can engage targets at ranges up to 6.5km, but from the ground.

Currently in the concept phase of development, a demonstrator fit of FLETCHER is mounted to the Supacat LRV 600, a lightweight special forces platform.

Jim Hager, President and CEO of Arnold Defense said “FLETCHER is an exciting new development for Arnold Defense and our team partners. We’re already exceedingly well established in the air environment with our rocket systems being used on air platforms globally. Moving that success into the land environment with our 2.75-inch rocket systems fitted to wheeled and tracked vehicles, as well as in a dismounted role, will provide ground forces with an entirely new capability”. He added: “there is further development work required but if all goes well, we’re expecting to have the system ready for sale towards the end of 2018”.
