The RobeTowel was a sleeper hit at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market with show goers begging to purchase the floor samples. Leveraging the popular PackTowel’s anti-microbial polyester/nylon microfiber blend, it’s comfortable and highly absorbent. It absorbs up to four times its weight in water and can be wrung nearly dry so it can be used as a towel when needed or a wrap.

The RobeTowel is calf-length with full sleeves and incorporates a hood as well as two pockets sized for 1 liter bottles. In 3 unisex sizes: S, M, L but the colors are definitely outdoors: Stone, Currant and Sky Blue.

If it were possible to ‘win’ Outdoor Retailer, I’d say Tipsy Elves with their wide variety of irreverent Christmas sweaters is a definite contender.

Who Else Wanted A Landmaster While Growing Up?

Sunday, November 24th, 2013

20131124-161254.jpg

The real star of 1977’s apocalyptic adventure, “Damnation Alley” wasn’t George Preppard or Jan-Michael Vincent. No, it was the vehicle, the Landmaster.

Three independent drive sources running from a gasoline power plant. Uses semi truck parts in the drive train. Can operate with the front or rear wheel trinary out of commission. Side and top hatches on the main unit and rear and top on the after section. Full running lights and brake lights for urban street use. External video camera is mounted on the forward pylon located just behind the front top hatch. Could also house the antenna. All pylons are hardened and armored. Can operate in water and will remain sealed when fully submerged. Can float while half full of water.

KOTA Longboards

Wednesday, October 30th, 2013

I know you saw the title of this post and started scratching your head. Trust me, it all fits together. First off, before I go any further, I want to say that KOTA Longboards is a Veteran owned business. Second, these guys are thrill seekers, just like you. Which leads to the heart of the matter; I know some of you guys ride longboards to keep a little bit of adrenalin in your downtime. Consequently, I thought I should tell all of you a little about KOTA Longboards, especially after I shared one of their videos last night in support of the CFF Indiegogo campaign.

Kota Longboards

KOTA Longboards was founded by a F-14 Tomcat pilot and TOPGUN graduate along with a Combat Wounded former Force Recon Marine in May 2012 with the mission to offer a broader action sports demographic, a high performance, sophisticated style longboard. They hand craft their decks in Denver, Colorado using Hard Rock Maple from Wisconsin. And their designs are awesome.

Medallion

The culture of the company is honor, integrity and esprit de corps. Even the company name is related to the military. ‘KOTA’ comes from ‘Knights of the Air’ which is a WW I term for aviators. And this company is rife with aviators. So much so, even their legal disclaimer is borrowed from the U.S. Navy LSO School, ‘Rectum Non Bustus’ – which loosely translated means, ‘Don’t Bust Your Ass’. Ride hard, have fun, be safe.

In order to move the primary art surface to the top of the board, they’ve developed a proprietary clear, gloss grip finish that eliminates the need for any grip tape.

Notice I mentioned that the company was founded by Veterans? Well they remember where they came from. Veterans receive a 10% discount everyday.
