Sunday, August 4th, 2013We’ve covered most of Salewa’s boot offering in the past so we thought it would be cool to mention a couple of their shoes.
New for Spring 14, the Ramble is Italian made with Italian leather and the new cutting edge Gore-tex Surround Membrane. This offers something never seen before; a waterproof breathable sole. The membrane is protected by a Kevlar mesh weave.
You’ll definitely see some Mountain DNA in the Ramble GTX, but it’s a casual shoe. There’s lacing to toe, I can’t believe that they are offering an Italian made shoe with Italian leather and a Gore membrane for only $149 retail. Amazing!
Redesigned for 2014, the four-year-old Firetail was Salewa’s tech approach shoe. They’ve lightened it a bit and updated to the new three-piece insole. Offered in Gore-tex and non-Gore-tex models in two colorschemes each.

The Odin Guiding Light Jacket incorporates HellyTech Professional, a proprietary, 3-ply waterproof breathable fabric and a YKK Aquaguard waterproof zipper. The minimalist seam construction is fully seam sealed. For those of you who don’t know, Odin is the chief god in Norse mythology and, Norwegian Helly Hansen’s flagship line.
Also, since I know some of you guys will ask, those Camo shorts are also a Spring 14 Helly Hansen product.

Friday, August 2nd, 2013Big news at Adidas is Earth Green. The AX2 Non Gore-tex Mesh, AX2 Gore-tex, AX2 Mid Gore-tex, and Terrex FastX Gore-tex. The Terrex FastX was an 2013 Outside magazine Gear of the Year award winner.
Another new shoe is the Terrex Scope Gore-tex with Stealth Rubber from 5.10. I’m digging the to toe lacing and the Stealth Rubber toe rand. Adiprene midsole for shock absorption. Tactical colors coming in fall.

Friday, August 2nd, 20135 Seas Engineering and Trading is the passion of Eagle Industries founder John Carver. He continues to develop good ideas and shared this one with me. The Patent Pending Barracks Buddy was inspired by a requirement to hang multiple hooks to organize gear. It can also be used in locations where you can’t drive nails into the wall.
Truth be told, John’s wife Gretchen came up with the idea in order to help John keep after his stuff.
They realize pretty quickly that this new invention would be great for guys in the military.
What’s more, the hooks can be moved up and down the Barracks Buddy. And, it can be hung vertically or horizontally.
The Barracks Buddy is distributed by H2OG.

Friday, August 2nd, 2013The new RD Dump Pouch is designed to hold up to 6 5.56 30 round mags or 3 7.62 20 round mags, but thanks to the Tweave construction you can fit more in there.
Notice the guides. They are meant to help the shooter ensure he hits the mouth of the dump pouch. The mouth also incorporates elastic to ensure the mags stay inside the pouch.
