Based on the Mountain Trainer Mid Leather, Salewa’s Mountain Trooper is the same booth expect that it is all black, eyelets have replaced the lace hooks and there is no metal or wires.

I saw it during a recent trip to Canada for Rampart Range Day, where apparently there’s been some serious interest.

Warrior East 2017 – Footwear Preview From Salewa

Monday, July 17th, 2017

Over the past several years, Salewa footwear has become the choice of military, LE, and other tactical users. The Trooper (coming 2018) is the first dedicated tactical boot in their line.

The Trooper is an all Black model, based on the next generation of the Mountain Trainer Mid. However, Salewa has removed all of the metal, and the hooks you see on this prototype will be loops on the production model. Additionally, the Trooper is leather lined.

There will also be an updated version of the Mountain Trainer Leather. Like the Trooper, it will be leather lined.

It will incorporate a new outsole from Vibram.

Finally, Salewa is updating the Wildfire Vent with a wider toe box and forefoot and a new sole system from POMOCA, a name which you may recognize for their climbing skins. The outsole features a sticky rubber.

All three of these Salewa models will be landing in 2018.

This is the Ultra Train GTX. It incorporates a Michelin outsole which combines Michelin’s two best performing mountain bike tires. Obviously, it’s available in all Black.

The Trek Tail was inspired by the Firetail but they’ve opened the toe box up a bit. This urban hiker features Nubuck leather but no waterproof lining.

OR – Salewa

Friday, August 7th, 2015

For Summer 16, Salewa is introducing two new lightweight mountaineering boots, the Raven 2 GTX and the Crow GTX.

The Raven 2 GTX is about 15% lighter than the precious model.  They did this by removing material where it wasn’t needed yet retained the crampon compatibility.  The Crow GTX is about 10% lighter than the existing Rapace but utilizes synthetics rather than leather.  Both are 3-season boots.

Next up is the new is a leather lined, non-GTX Mountain Trainer for those guys who want an all leather boot.  It continues the same features of the Trainer.

The Alp Flow GTX came out this Spring,  It integrates WL Gore’s Surround technology and I absolutely love this boot.  These are being adopted left and right by government agencies and are offered now in Ballisco and Smoke.

This is the Firetail 3 which is the latest update to Salewa’s classic approach shoe.  Offered in GTX and non-gore versions.  They’ve updated to a wider fitting last.  Additionally, they are a very flat shoe and utilized a Vibram megagrip sole.  Check out the Blackout and Black Olive colors!

Salewa has broken into the trail running market with new Mountain Training styles.  The Lite Train (6 mil drop) and the Ultra Train (8 mil drop) both intros grate the new Michelin Outsole.

Under development for two years, the Michelin Outsole integrates materials and lugs from their two most popular mountain bike tires.

OR Summer Market – Salewa

Wednesday, August 6th, 2014

All of these new models you will see here are coming Spring 15. I really like the direction Salewa is moving and their styles will fit right in with niche military/tactical users.

First up is the Alp Flow featuring WL Gore’s Surround Technology. It’s based on the best selling Alp Trainer and incorporated the Gore-Tex Surround into a full grain letter upper. They were the first brand to feature this technology and it’s already available in the Escape and Ramble. For the Alp Flow, they’re using radiator technology to leverage the Surround material to force the hot air out and allow cooler air in.

Next is the Redesigned Rapace GTX (left) and Mountain Trainer Mid GTX (right). The laces are all the way to the end of the toe box. Additionally, they’ve added the new 3-piece adjustable footbed. Finally, they’ve lined the entire heel cup and collar with Ortholite foam which molds to the wearer, offering a better fit. Notably, the Rapace is also crampon capable.

Finally, Salewa is introducing a pack range to North America. Known for so clean, technical designs in Europe, they’ve chosen 9 of their proven styles to bring here. We’re giving you a taste with this Crest 25. It’s a 25 liter, lightweight alpine pack. It offers a breathable close fitting back panel and a clean design. Don’t forget, there’s also an integrated rain fly.
