Wednesday, June 14th, 2023

ELK RIVER, Minn. — U.S. Army Sgt. Tim Sherry won three Gold Medals at the USA Shooting 300-Meter Nationals May 23 -27.

The Evergreen, Colorado native, who is a marksmanship instructor/competitive shooter with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit International Rifle Team, claimed the wins in Men’s 300-Meter Prone Rifle, Open 300-Meter Standard Rifle and Men’s 300-Meter Three-Position Rifle against top marksmen from across the United States.

To win each National Champion title, competitors were required to shoot each match’s course of fire twice on separate days. The Prone Match course of fire consisted of 60-shots in 50 minutes. Sherry fired a two-day aggregate score of 1187-57x, beating second place by eight points and 20 Xs. The Standard Rifle Match course of fire consisted of 60 shots in 120 minutes. In Day 2 of the match, Sherry shot a notable 588-21x that brought his winning aggregate score to 1171-39x. This impressive score beat the second place competitor by 58 points and 17 Xs. Then, the Three-Position Rifle Match course of fire consisted of 60 shots in 90 minutes. Sherry completed Day 2 of this match with a personal best score of 589-26x, which brought his winning aggregate score to 1168-45x. This win beat the next competitor by 46 points and 19 Xs. By the end of the matches, each competitor had fired a total of 360 rounds.

Competing at the 300-meter matches are a good test of our shooting positions and fundamentals, said Sherry, who was the only USAMU Soldier at the event.

“It was great to get validation on my training as I won all three events at the competition!”

In addition to adding three new medals to his collection, the Soldier’s performance also earned him a spot on the U.S. 300-Meter Rifle Team and will represent the United States, and Army, at the International Shooting Sport Federation World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan starting in mid August, which is something Sherry said he is excited about.

“I am happy to have qualified for the team in all 300-meter events and am looking forward to Worlds later this summer.”

Blackhawk Sponsors Tactical Athlete Jared Halbert

Sunday, June 11th, 2023

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – June 5, 2023 – Blackhawk®, a leader in law enforcement and military equipment for over 20 years, is proud to sponsor tactical athlete Jared Halbert for the 2023 Tactical Games season. This season, Halbert is competing in both individual Men’s Elite events as well as Men’s Elite Team events with Blackhawk teammate Zach Rodman.

A former owner of The Tactical Games, Halbert has been immersed in the competitions since 2019, and prior to that was active in 3-Gun and a variety of other shooting competitions. Over the years, Halbert has racked up an impressive competitive resume, with two Men’s Elite National Championships in 2020 and 2021, 11 Elite Regional wins and 14 total Elite podium appearances.

“I had been working with the Blackhawk team for about a year before coming on board to shoot for them,” Halbert said. “Their professionalism and the way they treated their athletes drew me to the Blackhawk team, and I look forward to continuing the success that my teammates Zach and Ehea have started this season.”

Recently, Halbert and Rodman took first place in the Elite Team Event at the South Carolina Tactical Games. Last season, the pair took second place in the Elite Team Event at the West Virginia Tactical Games. Halbert also won first place in the Team Event at the Burnet Sniper Challenge.

Throughout The Tactical Games, Halbert has been running a full suite of Blackhawk gear, including the T-Series® L2C holster and Foundation Series Tac Nylon plate carrier and belt.

“The Foundation Series is my go-to gear for tactical games competition,” said Halbert. “The plate carrier is very minimalist, but so effective. With its reduced weight and simple setup, traversing obstacles is easy.”

Outside of competition, Halbert owns Texas Shooting Academy in central Texas along with two friends. He and his wife also own Rattler Crossfit in Liberty Hill, Texas.

“Don’t over think it, just sign up and show up,” Halbert said when asked for advice for prospective competitors. “The sport is for everyone and there is a division for all levels of shooters and fitness levels. Whether you started working out or shooting a week ago or 10 years ago, there is a place for you to have an unforgettable experience.”

Blackhawk’s Zach Rodman and Jared Halbert Take First at South Carolina Tactical Games

Saturday, June 3rd, 2023

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – May 31, 2023 – Blackhawk®, a leader in law enforcement and military equipment for over 20 years, congratulates tactical athletes Zach Rodman and Jared Halbert for their first-place finish at The Tactical Games South Carolina Team Event 2023, which took place at The Sawmill Training Complex.

Like individual Tactical Games events in terms of structure, Team Events see two competitors working together to complete various physical and marksmanship stages as quickly as possible. Rodman and Halbert both ran Blackhawk T-Series® holsters and Foundation Series Tac Nylon gear, including plate carrier and belt, to help them secure first-place in the Men’s Elite Division.

“Jared and I have competed against each other since 2019,” said Rodman. “We first met on the firing line in Mississippi, and since that time have remained good friends. I’m more of a team orientated person by nature, so having Jared as a partner over the last two years has been great. Not only is he a great teammate, but as a former champion, he knows what it takes to win. I push hard individually, but there’s an element of not letting your teammate down that makes you push even harder.”

The duo, who previously secured a second-place win when they competed together last season, have praised the Foundation Series and T-Series holsters as a big contributor to their success both in individual and team competitions.

“The Foundation Series Plate Carrier is very minimalist but still holds standard sized plates,” Halbert said. “This design makes it easy to traverse obstacles where other plate carriers would get caught-up. Plus, the removable placard options have proven to be great for mission specific loadouts. Likewise, I’m also pretty particular about holsters, and the T-Series is not only fast, but it also retains the pistol through any kind of movement.”

Blackhawk’s T-Series holsters with leg straps are optimally designed to maintain proper holster position and security as competitors navigate unconventional obstacles throughout The Tactical Games. Foundation Series Tac Nylon gear gives competitors some of the lightest weight gear in its class without sacrificing durability or modularity, which is critical to maintaining speed and endurance while wearing heavy plate carriers.
