CGS Group – Hyperion 762 and Hyperion 762 K Signature Suppressors

Wednesday, November 18th, 2020

General Overview

All CGS rifle silencers are based on what we call “Hyperion VCD Technology”. Hyperion Tech is a signature suppression system developed internally by CGS Group LLC designed to address multiple issues that have plagued rifle silencers in various ways for the past 130 years. The patented and patent pending features incorporated into CGS rifle silencers utilizing Hyperion Technology are the current state of the art for signature suppressors and there is nothing on the horizon that will surpass it any time soon.

Features

1) The absolute best supersonic sound suppression available by a significant margin, all while not sacrificing subsonic sound suppression or blowback reduction. Before you stop reading, that is not marketing speak, that is a verifiable fact (see PewScience note below).

2) Function Changing Front Caps completely change the function of the silencer as desired by the end user. The end user can make the CGS Hyperion a “traditional” type silencer by using the Solid Front Cap (included) which is ideal for something like a bolt gun or most semi auto and select fire hosts, or the end user can make the CGS Hyperion a “flow bypass” type silencer simply by removing the existing front cap with a 7/8” wrench and replacing it with the Vented Front Cap (purchased separately). The Vented Front Cap allows excess gas within the suppressor to vent to atmosphere without further influencing the host weapon system and further preventing toxic gasses from being blown back at the shooter. In the future, different front caps will be made available such as those with longer central flash hider to improve flash elimination, and those with varying vent size and quantity, and those with flash hiding features for each peripheral vent. While “flow bypass” type silencers are nothing new, having been around since 1909 and in their current form since 1927, the convertible and adjustable function concept in CGS rifle silencers certainly takes suppressor capability to the next level and was never attempted or perfected until now. It is the best of both worlds in one simple package.

3) No first round pop.

4) Additive Manufactured (3D Printed) Core with a proprietary internal Hexagonal Boron Nitride coating to prevent the buildup of fouling an and external black DLC coating. AM allows for the elimination of failure points such as welds or machining errors and is stronger than that billet material that silencer parts are commonly machined out of, and allows for excellent concentricity throughout the suppressor.

5) CGS rifle silencers manufactured via AM use a proprietary heat treatment process which vastly improves strength of the silencer core compared to the standard heat treatment used by other manufacturers.

6) All 7.62mm CGS rifle silencers come by default with a 5/8×24 direct thread mount compatible with the SIG Sauer 25 deg taper barrel shoulder. Barrels with 90 deg shoulders must have a minimum diameter of .735” at the shoulder, however barrels under .735” diameter at the shoulder can use the CGS Hyperion Thread Adapter (sold separately) which will turn a 90 deg barrel shoulder into a 25 deg barrel shoulder and is compatible with all barrel diameters. This gives the user the retention benefit of the taper shoulder and will also allow the use of skinny barrels utilizing muzzle shoulders such as the FN SCAR 17. The Hyperion Thread Adapter is also offered in 1/2×28.

Virtual Warfighter Expo – Otis Suppressor Cleaner and Reclaimer

Tuesday, October 6th, 2020

During both SHOT Show and ADS Federal Range Day we’ve shown you the Otis Suppressor Cleaner and Reclaimer. However, we’ve received questions about how it works. Otis Technology demonstrated the device during the Virtual Warfighter Expo.

Offered in two sizes, theOSCR-1 has a basket for individual components which the larger OSCR-6 model does not. However, the OSCR-6 incorporates wheels and handles for movement, which makes sense as it is quote a bit larger. Regardless of size, the OSCR removed more than 90% of carbon, copper, and lead fouling from the suppressor’s baffles in as little as two hours.

Griffin Armament Announces The CAM-LOK (Covert Application Mount – Locking) a Universal, QD Piston System for Handguns

Thursday, August 13th, 2020

Watertown WI, Aug 12th, 2020 – Three years ago Griffin Armament was approached by a small but elite unit who requested the design and manufacture of a small number of QD pistol suppressor mounts. No design was available at the time. However, Austin Green, owner and engineer of Griffin Armament started theorizing a solution which would become a two part universal piston system for pistol suppressors.

The CAM-LOK™ (Covert Application Mount – Locking) is a universal, QD piston system that allows rapid, secure, mounting of pistol suppressors to handguns.

This patent pending system allows necessary spring piston function while adding a 120 degree, 3 position QD mount with a taper locking function. Durable, cam-like threaded adapters, which are available in a variety of thread pitches, are installed to 20 ft/lbs with a ¾” wrench to the host firearm.  The CAM-LOK™ pistons then act as a universal mount like those found in rifle silencers, to couple the suppressor to the firearm with the barrel adapters. This ensures that all your handguns, both metric and English, can be adapted to fit your pistol suppressor without tedious reconfiguration back and forth with various threaded pistons to suit the pistol being used. Additionally, there is no more need to check and tighten the pistol suppressor during use due to the taper locking interface engineered into the CAM-LOK™ pistons and adapters. This nearly eliminates baffle and end cap strikes commonly associated to pistol suppressors using the traditional fixed piston. The CAM-LOK™ system also supports the CAM-LOK™ Carry Compensator for users seeking additional recoil and rise mitigation if carrying the handgun when a suppressor is not being used.

The original fixed piston booster design was developed nearly 3 decades ago by two small arms inventors, Doug Olson & Charles Finn of the former QUAL -A-TEC company.  They designed the booster piston assembly, a spring coupling mechanism which enhances recoil allowing reliable operation of browning tilt barrel style pistols when a suppressor is attached. With the added weight of a suppressor attached, most pistols will not cycle in semi-automatic mode without this type of mechanism.

All notable suppressor designers to the present time have used this system to couple pistol suppressors to handguns.   Respectable brands such as Gemtech, AAC, Silencer Co, Dead Air, Rugged, and a multitude of others have utilized recoil boosters with direct thread pistons.

This legacy direct thread system has several notable weaknesses.  The piston utilizes traditional 90 degree shoulder joints which require more torque than simple hand installation can provide. Coupled with the vibration of barrel and slide cycling, the legacy direct thread piston system often loosens during use, even when basic engineering attempts such as O-ring integrations are made to further secure the suppressors.  Relatively fine threads on the expensive barrel are often left exposed and can be damaged during handling or holster carry of the pistol. Previously, users with multiple brand suppressors had to manage an assortment of pistons for their various pistol hosts.  Silencers using this legacy system are awkward and time consuming to attach, remove, and re-configure to the appropriate thread pitch piston needed.  These silencers are often disassembled and re-configured with different thread pitch pistons when moving the suppressor from one pistol host to another. The CAM-LOK™ system solves these age old problems and brings pistol silencers into the modern age.

The SureFire SF RYDER 9-Ti2

Wednesday, August 12th, 2020

Fountain Valley, CA—SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of the world’s finest—and most innovative—illumination tools and tactical products, is proud to announce the release of the new SF RYDER 9-Ti2 suppressor, the next generation in for 9mm suppressors for handguns and carbines.

The successor to SureFire’s popular SF RYDER 9-Ti, the SF RYDER 9-Ti2 features a new, thicker fluted titanium outer tube that substantially increases the SF RYDER 9-Ti2’s rigidity and improves overall performance by ensuring suppressor-to-barrel concentricity, further minimizing POI shift. Inside, SureFire’s heat-treated, U.S. mill-certified stainless-steel baffles feature a new interface, and the SF RYDER 9-Ti2’s proprietary booster assembly is revised for even more precise alignment. These changes result in increased accuracy and rock-solid reliability. The booster’s anti-friction coating also reduces carbon buildup for consistent high performance, round after round.

Weighing a mere 10.7 ounces, the SF RYDER 9-Ti2 is one of the lightest suppressors in its class, and it advances SureFire’s proven formula for an ultra-quiet, low-profile 9mm suppressor. Its patented design reduces sound by 28 dB at the shooter’s ear when compared to an unsuppressed weapon, helping to preserve hearing and reduce environmental noise at the range or in the field. It’s also an ideal tool for introducing beginners to pistol shooting. Reduced noise allows for easier communication between shooter and instructor, and it allows the shooter to focus on technique with less intimidation. The SF RYDER 9-Ti2 offers improved accuracy and faster follow-up shots. Regardless of your experience level, the SF RYDER 9-Ti2 will make your shooting experience more enjoyable by significantly reducing sound while delivering minimal and consistent point-of-aim, point-of-impact shift.

Cleaning and maintaining the SF RYDER 9-Ti2 is a snap. Its baffles are indexed and numbered for easy assembly every time. You simply can’t put it together wrong, and every SF RYDER suppressor even includes a tool for easy takedown and assembly. A numerical indexing system on the rear of the suppressor also assures repeatable mounting every time, ensuring zero retention. SureFire’s precision single-point cut threads provide quick, secure attachment to ½ x 28 or M13.5 x 1 LH threaded barrels (depending on the model). Featuring an abrasion-resistant, high-temperature Cerakote finish and available in two colors, the SF RYDER 9-Ti2 is proudly made in the U.S.A.

Warren Innovative Technologies – Suppressor Socket System

Tuesday, July 28th, 2020

Since Warren Innovative Technologies, LLC believes in continuous improvement and taking things to the next level, we have developed a socket set that incorporates all of the features of our legacy full-size wrenches but with important differences. A lot of time and thought went into these:

– The sockets are smaller than the full-size wrenches and use a ½” square drive handle, which is available at hardware stores, plus we have our own lightweight compact handle.

– Sockets can also be used without a handle, but the option is there for applying serious torque.

– Sockets are MADE IN THE USA on a Stratasys F120 3D printer out of solid injection mold grade ABS-M30 polymer, which is considerably stronger than typical 3D printed ABS.

– These polymer tools won’t damage mounts or front caps.

– Stainless steel dowel pins are used on sockets that require them for certain spanner features.

– Each one of the sockets has dedicated holes for parachute cord lanyards (AKA dummy cords).

– The sockets can be conveniently stored on storage strips that are available at hardware stores (not included). Detents are on all four sides of the ½” squares.

– The numbering system with suppressor make/model key eliminates the need to update tool identification markings as suppressor names evolve or as compatibility expands (Kraken/Mod9, Octane/Octane 2.0, Omega 9K/45K, Sandman/Nomad, etc.). Only our list needs to be updated, which will be on our website.

– The web address is on the bottom of each socket and on the top of the handle, minimizing the brand footprint. Some potential customers complained that the company name and city were on the full-size wrenches, so the identification markings were minimized. A customer can have additional text laser engraved if desired.

– Sockets are capable of withstanding serious torque, which makes them perfect for use with Energetic Armament Vox Blox soft vise jaws, which are available in our webstore.

– If you break one, we will replace it – but that’s not likely to happen.

– Suppressors should be allowed to cool below 200? F before using the sockets.

– The complete socket set is available at a considerable savings.

– Our socket handle is designed to keep the handle’s axis as close to the socket spanners as possible, thereby minimizing torque coupling. The parachute cord handle enables quick ergonomic socket removal while allowing a firm grip on each socket type. A steel ½” male square socket interface is retained in the handle by a spring-loaded detent. The handle’s other end has a ½” female interface for keeping the handle with the sockets on a storage strip.
