The SureFire SF RYDER 9-Ti2

Wednesday, August 12th, 2020

Fountain Valley, CA—SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of the world’s finest—and most innovative—illumination tools and tactical products, is proud to announce the release of the new SF RYDER 9-Ti2 suppressor, the next generation in for 9mm suppressors for handguns and carbines.

The successor to SureFire’s popular SF RYDER 9-Ti, the SF RYDER 9-Ti2 features a new, thicker fluted titanium outer tube that substantially increases the SF RYDER 9-Ti2’s rigidity and improves overall performance by ensuring suppressor-to-barrel concentricity, further minimizing POI shift. Inside, SureFire’s heat-treated, U.S. mill-certified stainless-steel baffles feature a new interface, and the SF RYDER 9-Ti2’s proprietary booster assembly is revised for even more precise alignment. These changes result in increased accuracy and rock-solid reliability. The booster’s anti-friction coating also reduces carbon buildup for consistent high performance, round after round.

Weighing a mere 10.7 ounces, the SF RYDER 9-Ti2 is one of the lightest suppressors in its class, and it advances SureFire’s proven formula for an ultra-quiet, low-profile 9mm suppressor. Its patented design reduces sound by 28 dB at the shooter’s ear when compared to an unsuppressed weapon, helping to preserve hearing and reduce environmental noise at the range or in the field. It’s also an ideal tool for introducing beginners to pistol shooting. Reduced noise allows for easier communication between shooter and instructor, and it allows the shooter to focus on technique with less intimidation. The SF RYDER 9-Ti2 offers improved accuracy and faster follow-up shots. Regardless of your experience level, the SF RYDER 9-Ti2 will make your shooting experience more enjoyable by significantly reducing sound while delivering minimal and consistent point-of-aim, point-of-impact shift.

Cleaning and maintaining the SF RYDER 9-Ti2 is a snap. Its baffles are indexed and numbered for easy assembly every time. You simply can’t put it together wrong, and every SF RYDER suppressor even includes a tool for easy takedown and assembly. A numerical indexing system on the rear of the suppressor also assures repeatable mounting every time, ensuring zero retention. SureFire’s precision single-point cut threads provide quick, secure attachment to ½ x 28 or M13.5 x 1 LH threaded barrels (depending on the model). Featuring an abrasion-resistant, high-temperature Cerakote finish and available in two colors, the SF RYDER 9-Ti2 is proudly made in the U.S.A.

Warren Innovative Technologies – Suppressor Socket System

Tuesday, July 28th, 2020

Since Warren Innovative Technologies, LLC believes in continuous improvement and taking things to the next level, we have developed a socket set that incorporates all of the features of our legacy full-size wrenches but with important differences. A lot of time and thought went into these:

– The sockets are smaller than the full-size wrenches and use a ½” square drive handle, which is available at hardware stores, plus we have our own lightweight compact handle.

– Sockets can also be used without a handle, but the option is there for applying serious torque.

– Sockets are MADE IN THE USA on a Stratasys F120 3D printer out of solid injection mold grade ABS-M30 polymer, which is considerably stronger than typical 3D printed ABS.

– These polymer tools won’t damage mounts or front caps.

– Stainless steel dowel pins are used on sockets that require them for certain spanner features.

– Each one of the sockets has dedicated holes for parachute cord lanyards (AKA dummy cords).

– The sockets can be conveniently stored on storage strips that are available at hardware stores (not included). Detents are on all four sides of the ½” squares.

– The numbering system with suppressor make/model key eliminates the need to update tool identification markings as suppressor names evolve or as compatibility expands (Kraken/Mod9, Octane/Octane 2.0, Omega 9K/45K, Sandman/Nomad, etc.). Only our list needs to be updated, which will be on our website.

– The web address is on the bottom of each socket and on the top of the handle, minimizing the brand footprint. Some potential customers complained that the company name and city were on the full-size wrenches, so the identification markings were minimized. A customer can have additional text laser engraved if desired.

– Sockets are capable of withstanding serious torque, which makes them perfect for use with Energetic Armament Vox Blox soft vise jaws, which are available in our webstore.

– If you break one, we will replace it – but that’s not likely to happen.

– Suppressors should be allowed to cool below 200? F before using the sockets.

– The complete socket set is available at a considerable savings.

– Our socket handle is designed to keep the handle’s axis as close to the socket spanners as possible, thereby minimizing torque coupling. The parachute cord handle enables quick ergonomic socket removal while allowing a firm grip on each socket type. A steel ½” male square socket interface is retained in the handle by a spring-loaded detent. The handle’s other end has a ½” female interface for keeping the handle with the sockets on a storage strip.

The Smuzzle – The US Army’s Latest Invention Combines Muzzle Brake and Suppressor

Thursday, July 23rd, 2020

Engineers at the U.S. Army’s CCDC Armaments Center have designed a firearm sound suppressor that incorporates the features of a high-performance muzzle brake.

Known as the smuzzle, this hybrid device limits the muzzle climb of automatic and semi-automatic weapons while simultaneously providing significant sound suppression.

The Smuzzle’s flow-through design features asymmetric venting through tiny holes which researchers claim results in a 50% drop in volume at the shooter and a 25% reduction in the flash signature downrange with a minimal weight increase. They also incorporated a feature they refer to as a “bottom blocker” which reduces how much dust is kicked up.

The initial design work comes from a muzzle device for a 155mm Howitzer, but they say it is scalable you any caliber. The team has manufactured multiple devices based on this technology; they’ve made short and light cans (.8 pounds) with the design, and longer three-pound versions.

In these two photos, you can see the Smuzzle mounted to a 6.8mm Next-Gen Squad Weapon Technology Demonstrator. The Smuzzle is 3D printed Titanium and incorporates a bore evacuator.

This weapon was used by Army researchers to establish a baseline during the early stages of the NGSW program. It’s important to note that this demonstrator was manufactured by Textron and based on years of development under the Lightweight Small Arms Technology project of the Joint Service Small Arms Program. It fires Case Telescope ammunition.

Its refinement has included the use of sophisticated engineering techniques including computational fluid dynamics modeling and the center’s state-of-the-art testing equipment.

The size, weight, and durability of the device are tailorable, ie., its manufacture is adaptable.

Prototypes for the NATO 7.62mm and 6.8mm cartridges have been constructed using titanium and/or Inconel 718 steel. 3D printing techniques have also been successfully used.

Based on this research, they have two patents:
U.S. Patent 10,598,458 (33)
U.S. Patent 9,347,727

Below, you can see the Smuzzle attached to an M240B machine gun mounted in a test cradle in a full auto failure test.

OSS Suppressors Introduces HX-QD 556Ti

Wednesday, July 15th, 2020

MILLCREEK UT July 15, 2020 — OSS Suppressors LLC has introduced a new variation on their popular 5.56 caliber suppressors – the HX-QD 556Ti.

Built with OSS’s patented and proven Flow-Through® and Torque-Lock® technologies, and a combination of Grade 5/Grade 9 Titanium and 17-4 stainless steel, it is designed with a new flash cap that eliminates virtually all flash. It joins the updated HX-QD 556 and 556k models (with the new flash cap) to offer superior suppression and an unmatched shooting experience for 556 rifle owners. And unlike other 556 titanium suppressors, the HX-QD 556Ti has a stainless-steel core that delivers durability in excess of 40,000 rounds vs. all titanium suppressors that last a fraction of that.

“Only OSS’s unique Flow-Through design directs expanding gas away from the bore line, routing it forward, through coils and deflectors, and then out the muzzle” said Jake VanAllen, Director of Commercial and LE Sales. “Sound levels are effectively suppressed at the shooter’s ear, toxic gas blowback, rifle recoil and flash are mitigated, and weapon performance is improved. It’s a difference you can feel” he added.

“We’re excited to add OSS’s new 556Ti to our line at Silencer Shop,” said Elliot Aquila, Chief Marketing Officer. “Their Flow-Through suppressors have become increasingly popular for us. The HX-QD 556Ti – with its combination of light weight, full-auto rating, superior accuracy and repeatability, will prove to be a strong addition to our 556 offerings.”

The HX-QD 556Ti is available for purchase now. Find an OSS Dealer near you.

US Marine Corps Intends To Sole Source Knights Armament Co NT-4 Suppressor

Tuesday, July 14th, 2020

Marine Corps Systems Command has published their intent to solicit and negotiate with only one source, specifically Knights Armament Co to purchase 5.56mm Small Arms Suppressors to be used on the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle (IAR), M4 Carbine and M4A1 Close Quarter Battle Weapon. The Marines plan to field the KAC NT-4 to satisfy their requirement for close combat forces.

During last year’s NDIA Armaments Symposium, the Corps listed suppressors as a priority for their Squad Small Arms Capabilities.

In 2016 and 2017 the 1st and 2nd Marine Divisions conducted experimentation utilizing an unspecified number of KAC suppressors from Joint Operational formerly issued to SOF. In 2017, the Marines issued a Sources Sought Notice to Industry for commercially available suppressors.

This planned purchase will supplement those already on hand to fulfill their fielding plan. However, this isn’t exactly the latest in suppressor technology.

On the plus side, it’s got an NSN: 1005-01-437-0324 which was issued by US Special Operations Command. Despite being around since 1998, it’s a workhorse, currently in use with loads of federal and local law enforcement agencies. Plus, it has already been fielded on the M38 Squad Designated Marksman Rifle which is an M27 IAR fitted with a Leupold TS-30A2 Mark 4 MR/T optic.

All of that sounds great right? Here’s where they lose me. The crux of their argument for sole sourcing the NT-4 isn’t that it has an NSN, not that they already have some. Instead, they push its compatibility with Bayonets, Collimators, Boresights and Blank Firing Adapters.

The KAC Small Arms Suppressor will enable the USMC to continue to use their existing bayonets, as well as their existing Small Arms Collimators (SAC), Laser Boresights (LBS), and Blank Firing Adapters (BFA), all of which are critical to accuracy and lethality in both training and combat. These items are interoperable with the current Small Arms Suppressor.

Since this a notice of intent, other companies can still submit (see SAMS for details) if they believe they meet these requirements.

Griffin Armament – BUSHWHACKER 46 (gen 2) Universal Suppressor

Tuesday, June 30th, 2020

The Griffin team is proud to introduce the new Bushwhacker® 46 (gen 2) universal suppressor.  Many consumers are looking for a multi-function tool for a first suppressor.  The ability to use the product across pistols, rifles, and other firearms has been the major focus on product development in this market category.  Griffin recently re-designed the fan favorite Bushwhacker® 46 to be lighter, shorter, more durable, higher performance, and even more versatile.

“It’s a long list of upgrades, but they are real.” Said Austin Green, primary owner and lead engineer at Griffin. “The most notable improvements to the unit are the integration of a new baffle system that I have been working on for quite some time, and the Universal QD Piston System. Both of these improvements mark notable intellectual property improvements to the suppressor space, and I’m happy that we can provide them to our customers.”

The Bushwhacker now comes in shorter at 7.75”, lighter in all configurations, and boasts sound performance numbers 5-7db lower across calibers. The new silencer swaps titanium baffles for H900 heat treated 17-4 stainless steel ECO-FLOW™ baffles, which improve flow through the system, decrease back pressure, and drop sound pressure levels substantially.  The switch to stainless steel baffles also means better durability, and longer service life.  The patented Ratchet-Lok™ end cap system is unchanged from the previous version, allowing users to fully disassemble their suppressor for cleaning and maintenance.  The new gen 2 units are able to accommodate the new Universal QD Piston System, which is going to be released in more detail shortly.

This system allows rapid and secure attachment to tilt barrel pistols by way of a 3 position QD interface. Users can select one of three, 120-degree separated attachment positions.  There are no false positives in the system like prior art examples of QD mechanisms of years past. There is also a taper in front of the device that interacts with and locks the suppressor (piston) in place ensuring that possible baffle strikes and end cap strikes, common to pistol suppressors are nearly eliminated. Griffin is also releasing a 1.375×24” A2 adapter alongside the Bushwhacker® 46, further showcasing its versatility for the AR community.

MSRP :  $999.00

The Bushwhacker® 46 is currently shipping nationwide to all Griffin Armament dealers and wholesalers.  For more information visit www.griffinarmament.com

CCI’s Newest Clean-22 Option is Optimized for Suppressed Firearms and Packed in Convenient Cartons

Friday, June 26th, 2020

LEWISTON, Idaho – June 24, 2020 – CCI Ammunition is proud to announce new Clean-22 Suppressor 22 LR rounds, packaged in CCI’s new easy-to-pour, bulk-pack cartons. Shipments of this new product have begun to arrive at dealers.

This new ammunition uses an advanced polymer bullet coating to reduce lead fouling inside a suppressor by up to 60 percent. The exclusive feature allows much easier suppressor cleaning and maintenance, as well as excellent accuracy. With dependable CCI priming and consistent propellant, the loads cycle reliably through any suppressed firearm.

“Clean-22 ammunition provides an advantage because its polymer coating replaces the wax that is traditionally applied to 22 LR ammunition,” said CCI Rimfire Product Manager Dan Compton. “The goal of traditional wax is to protect the barrel of the gun from buildup of lead or copper created as bullets pass through it. But this wax does not totally encapsulate the bullet, so metal and wax deposits eventually build up and the gun needs to be cleaned. However, because the Clean-22 polymer coating completely encapsulates the bullet, it does a better job protecting the barrel from dirt and buildup than wax. The cleaner results are quite impressive.”

Features:
• Black polymer bullet coating reduces lead fouling in suppressors up to 60 percent
• Ballistically optimized 40-grain lead round nose bullet
• Reliable function in semi-automatic firearms
• Extremely reliable CCI priming and brass case
