Tactical Class Finder

Sunday, June 16th, 2013

Tactical Class Finder aka TAC-Finder is a new web-based resource to help you find trainers as well as gear shops. The gear shop side of this sounds awesome. I constantly run across guys wondering what is available while they are on the road.

And, while I like the folks running this thing, I’m kind of curious about the “unbiased” aspect. Since they claim that the industry is in desperate need of an unbiased source for information and they plan to be it, I wonder what those “packages” they offer are all about. Sounds like they plan on taking money for listings. With that, somebody is going to claim that you are biased. Welcome to the big leagues.

At any rate, I can guarantee they will see some issues arise with the trainer part of this. There is no way around it. For example, are they going to open up their listings to every Tom, Dick and Harry out there? Just associating with some trainers will garner this fledgling site a bad reputation, at least in some circles. And then you’ve got to wonder if the top level trainers are going to want to lend their credibility to a site that will contain their competitors and by association legitimize them. It’s going to be tough nut to crack.

It’s an ambitious undertaking. I spoke to quite a few folks about doing this last year but with so many bullshit artists in the training market, I took a pass. I’ll keep an eye on how this goes for them. I wish them luck.

What is your centrally located source of weapons, gear, and training information? In reality, there isn’t one. This industry is in desperate need of an unbiased source of training options, ranges, and gear. TACFinder and Righteous Duke Media has created the perfect, hi-tech but easy to use website as the solution. With the goal of becoming the one-stop “find what you need” source Tactical Class Finder can help the novice or professional alike locate what they need.

This system has been built on an expandable platform that is ready to add on reviews, a community, endless page count, an e-zine blog and can maintain an unlimited volume of data!

The search feature is integrated with custom icons, google maps, and has the ability of finding each location down to GPS coordinates with fully customized search fields designed for Tactical Class Finder.

TAC-Finder is first & foremost a resource for the student-at-arms and consumer of firearms and tactical goods. TAC-Finder is not affiliated (i.e.,strategically allied) with any one organization/trainer/facility. TAC-Finder maintaining a professional neutrality in that we do not “play favorites”, meaning TAC-Finder does NOT show differential treatment to one organization/trainer/range over another.

Do you really want to get the student’s attention? TAC-Finder has service packages available giving a more in-depth look at you and your business. With TAC-Finder you can display pictures, media, and fully detailed class information and your business profile; everything you would want to show to your potential student or consumer-at-arms.

Introducing TNVC University

Friday, June 14th, 2013

TNVC recently launched a Youtube channel that is chock full of night vision knowledge. When they spoke with us about sharing it, I suggested we take the idea one step further by making it a regular feature here on SSD. They agreed and here we are, launching TNVC University. I am really excited to have them on board. Let the learning begin…

TNVC_University

TNVC’s core is education. It always has been; It always will be. While we do sell night vision and related gear, we are not salesmen. We are real life trainers first. We are educators. We can outfit a team or department with the night vision equipment they need, educate them on what it does, and then show them how to use it operationally. Our managerial and training staff is made up of former military special operations/former law enforcement special operations, and all currently hold a badge. This is not just a job for us. We understand the importance of putting quality equipment into the hands of the people who depend on it, because we also depend on it. TNVC as a company felt compelled to fill the void in informative and educational material when it comes to night vision, which is why we are pleased to announce our YouTube series that we hope will bring insight into the night vision world. We will be adding topics on a regular basis, however, if there is something that you would like to see us cover, feel free to email us any suggestions.

Paul Howe Tactical Carbine from Wilson Combat

Thursday, June 13th, 2013

Wilson Combat builds some great guns, so I was very pleased to hear that they would be building a new signature carbine for Paul Howe. More specifically, MSG Paul Howe (USA, Ret), is a special operations veteran and served in the Battle of the Black Sea in Mogadishu, Somalia. Now, he runs CSAT, a well respected training company.

20130613-090018.jpg

The Howe carbine is offered only in 5.56mm as a stand alone or a more complete package that includes Paul’s preferred optic, the LeupoldVX-6 1-6×24 Firedot along with a VCAS and Streamlight.

Right off the bat, you’ll notice the paint job. Wilson applies a Camouflage Armor-Tuff finish. They claim that this hand applied finish reduces the carbine’s IR signature and helps keep the rifle cooler.

It incorporates a two-stage Wilson Combat TTU with heavier springs for a 4.5 pound trigger release. The Howe Tactical Carbine includes a Daniel Defense fixed front sight tower paired with his CSAT rear aperture flip up. Additionally, it relies on a Wilson peerless, match grade, 5.56 chambered stainless steel 14.7” barrel with deep lightening flutes and a permanently attached Accu-Tac flash hider for a 16″ overall length.

“Were I to have the choice of only one gun, this is the gun it would be. I could do short, intermediate and long range work with this one rifle. It is like having one golf club to play the entire course”
– Paul Howe

3D Human Body Exposed Training Shirt Design by Webtechgear

Wednesday, June 12th, 2013

This three dimensionally printed shirt puts the vital body parts on full view. Large muscle groups, internal organs are displayed for edged weapon training, baton training. You are only limited by your imagination. Target areas are now right in front of your eyes. A moving target is what you likely will face, so train to hit prescribed areas.

Webtech exposed body shirt

An additional benefit of this shirt is that with marking devices you can visibly “score” the wounds and discuss the psychological and physiological implications. In addition you can use the “hits” to conduct immediate after action triage and first responder treatment based on the now visible wounds. Self treatment for preservation and minimization of injuries is the new wave of LEO training so make use of this shirt to bring it home in your training classes.

Kill Cliff Executing Aggressive Distribution Push

Tuesday, June 11th, 2013

I thought this was pretty cool. I didn’t realize that InBev was distributing the drink. Don’t forget that Kill Cliff is represented in the Tactical Market by our friends at Über Group and is on sale at the GSS Gear and Grey Group Training showrooms. I’m a fan of Kill Cliff.

Kill Cliff

With Day Two of GNC’s Franchise Show underway today, the Kill Cliff team has descended upon the Expo Aria Resort & Casino to hook hundreds of GNC franchise store owners on “The Tasty.” Initially available in a select number of GNC’s last August, Kill Cliff is now available at all domestic corporate GNC locations and at a growing number of GNC franchise locations, totaling almost 6,000 stores. Additionally, the performance product has increased its regional availability in the Southeast through the Anheuser-Busch InBev wholesaler system.

“With a strong brand following – literally and figuratively – we want to make sure our customers can get Kill Cliff anywhere, anytime,” Kill Cliff Founder Todd Ehrlich said. “Listen, you can’t stop the spread of Awesome. If Kill Cliff isn’t there today, it will be. It will sneak in, in the middle of the night, and show up on a shelf. We have store owners all over the country ordering the product where distribution is not yet in place, but consumer demand is pent up.”

Targeting independent, chain convenience and grocery stores in Georgia, Kill Cliff has tapped Atlanta Beverage Company, Eagle Rock, Eagle Rock North, Leon Farmer & Company, and Bibb Distributing Company Distributing companies. In Alabama and in Tennessee, Kill Cliff has partnered with Greene Beverage Company in Tuscaloosa and Ajax Turner in Nashville, with several other contracts in the works. These partnerships ensure increased availability of Kill Cliff at leading grocery and convenience chains including QuikTrip, RaceTrac, Tigermarket, Kroger and Publix among other retailers.

In conjunction with increased distribution, Kill Cliff is driving brand awareness through national and local advertising. At the same time, the company is running promotional programs on the product at retail and through a steady stream of social media initiatives aimed at their online following reaching over one million consumers per week. This momentum is expected to continue in the weeks to come as Kill Cliff’s summer sampling program culminates at the Crossfit Games in July where the company has a secret drop planned.
