WEST VALLEY CITY, UT – Jan. 12, 2015 – Furthering their reputation for constant innovation in firearm sound suppression, SilencerCo today released the Omega – the shortest, lightest and quietest full auto centerfire rifle silencer on the market.

Combining the best features from the Harvester, Saker and Specwar rifle series – all leaders in their respective classes – SilencerCo has built a true multipurpose product that excels in any scenario.

“The fact that we have the best performing and selling trio of .30 caliber silencers on the market doesn’t mean we stop innovating,” states SilencerCo CEO Joshua Waldron. “We’re constantly looking for ways to improve upon our successes, and 2015 will be no exception.”

The Omega is comprised of titanium, tool-grade stainless steel and Stellite, keeping its weight at 14 ounces, while providing strength sufficient for full auto applications. Length is only 7 inches using a direct thread mount, or 7 ¾ inches with the Active Spring Retention (ASR) quick-detach mount – both included with each purchase. Sound is minimized to an industry-leading 133 decibels on a .308 platform. In addition, a removable Anchor Brake provides significant recoil reduction for larger calibers.

Available immediately, the Omega will start shipping to distributors in January 2015. For more information, visit: http://www.silencerco.com/omega. To find a SilencerCo dealer near you, visit http://www.silencerco.com/locate-dealer.

American Rifle Company – Mausingfield Bolt Action

Monday, January 12th, 2015

The Mausingfield Action from American Rifle Company debuted at last year’s SHOT Show and immediately caught the attention of precision shooting circles. I’m always impressed with the development of very specialized equipment based on requirements, particularly when the inventor builds something based on his own needs. When Caylen Wojcik of Magpul Dynamics told me about (ok, that is his version of raving about it) the Mausingfield, I knew that I needed to spread the word to my readers. Although it may never achieve wide stream recognition, the Mausingfield is certainly something that should become well known in the Sniper and tactical competition communities.

This is probably this simplest description of the Mausingfield to get you started.

Remington 700 footprint with a Mauser ejector, an ’03 Springfield extractor, and American Rifle’s toroidal bolt lugs.

Together, they form one helluva combination that has been picked up over the past year by several custom rifle builders.

Closeup

I’ve spoken with Theodore Karagias, President of the Seattle-based American Rifle Company, Inc. and he told me that he developed the Mausingfield action to be the most effective rifle action available for use in extreme conditions. He fully admits that the Mausingfield isn’t for everyone. It’s a very specialized device for very specialized applications. Think, snow, ice, mud, sand and you’ll get the picture.

“If I could have bought a rifle that I considered to be both properly designed and well executed, I would not have designed my own. Adoptable, battle-proven ideas are my favorites. If those are not available, I must invent. That’s how the Mausingfield happened.”
-Ted Karagias

Karagias took a look at what was available and eventually his thoughts got to what he had used as a kid; the Mauser. Very effective, it just needed some adapting. A combination of old and new, the Mausingfield integrates some features that shooters are accustomed to and reintroduces proven, yet out-of-fashion elements along with some engineering and the latest materials.

He set to work within the footprint of a Remington 700 because so many excellent stocks and accessories were already out there. The Mausingfield action is compatible with Remington 700 triggers, trigger guards, chassis, and stocks. The action is also compatible with proven Savage barrels rather than some proprietary, new design. Karagias worked for many years in the aerospace field and brought his experience with materials to bear as well. He also decided to utilize two lugs in order to enhance the “feeling” of the shooter as he chambers a round.

Here are a few of the features of the Mausingfield Action:
-Interchangeable bolt heads support multi-caliber rifles
-Toroidal bolt lugs do not require lapping
-Battle-proven Mauser 98 claw extractor
-Battle-proven M1903 Springfield inertial ejector
-Secure and interchangeable interlocking rail interface
-Ergonomically designed bolt knob
-Compatible with Alpha and Accuracy International CS magazines
-Compatible with Savage barrels and locknuts
-Integral recoil lug

The ALG Defense 6-Second Mount Is Finally Here!

ALG Defense 6-Second Mount

IMG_0916.JPG

The ALG Defense 6-Second Mount was designed when a counter-terrorism unit approached ALG with a strict set of criteria. When entering a linear environment, such as an airplane or bus, the team’s primary weapon was their pistol and they were looking for a fast sighting method that was rugged and robust. Red dot scopes mounted directly to their pistol slides were showing a high failure rate, due to extreme acceleration or deceleration of the slide. The balance of the pistols was thrown off from the rearward scope mounting position, and the slides were weakened from machining a pocket for the scopes into the top of the slide.

The name, 6-Second Mount, comes from a description used by one of the operators: “The fight lasts 6 seconds… Either they’re dead or you’re dead, and aggression saves the day.”

Mounting an optic to your weapon decreases engagement time, allowing for faster and more accurate hits on target. By separating the sight from the reciprocating slide it allows the pistol to function properly without the added mass of the optic sight, producing a favorable weight distribution.

The ALG 6-Second Mount in machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and designed to fit Gen 3 Glock 17, 22, 24, 31, 34 and 35.

ALG Defense – Sidewinder Muzzle Brake

Friday, January 9th, 2015

ALG Sidewinder

IMG_0908.JPG

ALG Defense’s new Sidewinder muzzle brake is machined from 17-4 Stainless Steel and fits ½”-28 threaded 5.56mm barrels. The vents are angled upward at 3 and 9 o’clock deflecting gas to the sides, away from the ground, reducing dust and debris when firing from the prone position. The vents are larger on top than on the bottom which minimize the muzzle rise of the ALG Sidewinder. The unique design reduces muzzle rise and recoil, allowing the shooter to quickly get back on target for rapid follow up shots. The ALG Sidewinder includes a peel washer for proper timing and concentricity during installation. Available in both Bright Polish or Black Nitride finish.
MSRP: Nitride: $75
Bright Polish: $85

The Super Reaction Rod

IMG_0900.JPG

The Super Reaction Rod was designed to fulfill the need of an advanced armorer who frequently works on AR15/M4 platforms with over torqued, seized or Loctited barrel nuts. The Super Reaction Rod works by pre-loading the barrel extension lugs to the lugs of the Super Reaction Rod to eliminate movement created by adding torque to the barrel nut while at the same time fixing the upper receiver in place. Having the barrel extension mated to the Super Reaction Rod lugs and fixing the upper receiver before torqueing will remove stress that could be placed on the index pin. This allows the armorer to place tremendous torque on the barrel nut to assist in breaking seized nuts loose. The Super Reaction Rod’s pre-loading system can also be removed to allow it to work just like a standard Reaction Rod, which allows upper work to be performed in a 360° both vertically, and horizontally.

Reaction Block

IMG_0903.JPG

The Geissele Reaction Block is designed to aid in the assembly of lower receivers. Once the armorer has installed the buffer tube onto the lower; the buffer tube and lower receiver assembly can be slid into the Reaction Block at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions. This allows the armorer to rotate the lower in 90 degree increments in the block simply by loosening the provided nylon screws, removing the lower, and sliding it back in at the desired orientation. The Reaction Block provides an ultra-stable platform for performing an array of lower receiver operations, as well as making the installation of the buffer retainer nut quick and easy. All while keeping both hands of the armorer free to work, saving both time and frustration.
MSRP: $99
