PMAG GEN M3/USGI Feedlip Drop Test

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012

Magpul conducted a demonstration of their new M3 PMAG technology.

This is a video from our feed lip drop testing. With a sample size of one each in this video, it is still an “unscientific” demonstration, but we didn’t think you’d want to see hours of magazines falling. This test is very typical of the overall results. This is the loaded magazine room temperature feed lip drop on concrete, from 6 feet, PMAG 30 GEN M3 vs USGI, tan follower, followed by full auto function fire. All drops were from a fixture to control impact angle and release. Test firearm is an HK 416.

They have also recently developed the recently patented Viper system. Below is the Viper Light. The key to this version is their universal, mechanically stabilized mount. This means accurate rounds on target without a powered system. It will elevate to 72 deg with elevation and traverse controllable via independent release paddles mounted adjacent to the weapon’s grips.

This model mounts on a universal ring mount and boasts a 30mm auto cannon which is the same gun found on the Apache. With a max effective range of 3000m its armed with HEDP rounds that will penetrate 75mm of RHA and still explode on the other side.

AUSA – Cyalume Technologies

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012

Developed by the Combat Training Solutions division of Cyalume Technologies, the HG1 is a programmable hand grenade simulator. It gives immediate feedback through direct impact training.

After programming the HG1 for 3 second, 5 second or random detonation, it is configured with a charge that provides both audible (140db @5 ft) and visible (smoke) signatures.

Additionally, it can be used over and over and is easily recovered from the training area thanks to a light and sound report.

They also now have a MILES compatible version that talks directly to your harness to signify both near miss and kill.

The HG1 is already in use with NSW and USMC elements.

SAGE Control Ordnance Hand-thrown Munitions – CS Irritant and Practice White Smoke

Tuesday, October 16th, 2012

SAGE Control Ordnance, Inc has released the new SAGE 66mm Tri-Canister Hand Thrown Munitions (HTM66). It is a separating continuous discharge pyrotechnic munition and available in CS irritant smoke as well as a white training smoke variant.

The HTM66 Tri-Canister Series design consists of three separate canisters pressed together with internal separating charges. Upon deployment the canisters separate and land roughly 20 to 25 feet apart affording a greater area of coverage than similar single source munitions. It can be hand thrown or launched from a shotgun cup mounted delivery system. The average burn time of each separating charge range between 20-30 seconds and this enhances the ability of the HTM66 to quickly saturate the desired area with CS or white smoke.

Double Tap Firearms Announces Production Delays

Thursday, October 11th, 2012

We just received this press release from Double Tap Firearms’ public relations agency, Laura Burgess Marketing. It’s an unfortunate announcement as we thought the Double Tap pistol was a cool, modern version of the derringer. Additionally, FirstSpear, working in conjunction with developer Ray Kahout, had produced some great accessories for the firearm. Hope he gets this thing moving again soon.

To our valued customers:

As the inventor of the DoubleTap pistol and owner of the design and utility patents, along with other intellectual property including the DoubleTap name, I am issuing this press release to inform our loyal customers of the current status of the production of this new innovative pistol.

Since we introduced the DoubleTap Tactical Pocket Pistol in November of last year, we have been overwhelmed by the industry reception; the popularity confirmed by literally tens of thousands of orders placed by consumers to their dealers, through our distributor partners.

Unfortunately, with the deepest regret, today I announce that we have terminated our relationship with HEIZER DEFENSE, our manufacturing partner, due to their inability to manufacture the DoubleTap pistol. I cannot comment further on this subject at this time, under advice from legal counsel, due to pending litigation.

It is our intention to immediately license the design to a leading firearms manufacturer or to align with another manufacturing source to produce the DoubleTap. We intend to accomplish this as quickly as possible to satisfy the huge demand for the DoubleTap pistol. I will make a further announcement as soon as we have established a new manufacturing agreement.

Please visit our new website www.doubletapfirearmsllc.com for news updates.

Sincerely,

Raymond B. Kohout

LAV’s fixin’ to run the latest DDM4v1 through a torture test. LAV related that lessons learned from last year’s torture test helped drive development of the new DDM4 rail introduced earlier this year. This carbine also incorporates DD’s new CNC machined front sight post and flash suppressor.
