Gentex And Subsidiary HISL Join At SAFE EU To Demo Their Latest Innovations In Aircrew Systems, Including Dazzle Laser Defense Eyewear Product Line

March 24th, 2015

Carbondale, Pennsylvania, March 23, 2015. Gentex Corporation, a global leader in integrated helmet systems for defense and security personnel, together with its U.K. subsidiary, Helmet Integrated Systems Ltd (HISL), will demonstrate their combined, industry leading line of aircrew helmet and respiratory systems at SAFE Europe (EU) Symposium, March 30th through April 1st in Munich, Germany. During the symposium, Gentex will also present its latest laser eye protection solutions for aircrew and share their expertise on the subject during a presentation.

In July 2014, Gentex acquired HISL to combine their world-class product lines, technologies, and manufacturing resources to provide customers with one of the most advanced, comprehensive lines of integrated helmet, respiratory, and communications systems on the market.

“We’re excited to present, for the first time to the European market, our combined, comprehensive portfolio of aircrew helmet and respiratory systems,” said Robert McCay, vice president, Gentex Aircrew Systems. “Gentex is dedicated to continuing and improving the ALPHA® line of aircrew products, and bringing a new level of capability and value to all our customers with the collective resources of Gentex and HISL.”

Also presented to the European market for the first time is the Gentex Dazzle Laser Defense Eyewear line. Designed for commercial pilots to combat the hazards of low-intensity lasers without compromising visual acuity, Dazzle Eyewear is available as visors for Gentex HGU-56/P and SPH-5® Rotary Wing Aircrew Helmet Systems and as spectacles to be worn with or without a flight helmet. Both formats are available in day and day/night versions, with all lenses designed to maintain see through color perception.

“The introduction of the Gentex Dazzle Laser Defense Eyewear line supports our commitment to developing the most advanced technology to improve aircrew protection and performance,” added McCay. “We’re honored to have been chosen by SAFE EU to provide our expertise during the symposium on laser eye protection, a growing concern for aircrew personnel worldwide.”

John Cueva, Gentex’s senior optical technologist and published optical product, patent, and innovation holder, was invited by SAFE EU to provide his expertise on laser eye protection and is scheduled to speak Wednesday, April 1st at 3:30 PM CET.

Gentex is the leading supplier of high-performance flight equipment for military, law enforcement, and rescue aircrew worldwide. Their comprehensive line of durable and innovative products for fixed and rotary wing aircrew includes: modular, integrated helmet systems; protective visors and spectacles; high-altitude oxygen breathing equipment; communication and hearing protection systems; chemical/biological defense respirators for fixed wing aircraft; aircrew flight equipment test sets; and a full suite of accessories. Gentex also offers aircrew flight equipment servicing, fitting, and operations/maintenance training.

The joint display of Gentex and subsidiary, HISL, can be seen at stand number 2. Technical experts and executives from Gentex will be on hand to meet with customers and media throughout the show. Patriot Ordnance Factory Officially Announces The 7.62×39 Puritan Rifle

March 23rd, 2015

Last week, we posted a brief preview of Patriot Ordnance Factory’s 7.62×39 Puritan Rifle, which has now been officially released. The official announcement can be read below.

Patriot 7.62x39

POF-USA puts a twist on the standard P-15 Puritan series with the addition of a 1 MOA capable 762x39mm rifle

PHOENIX, AZ (February 2015) – Patriot Ordnance Factory (POF-USA) is proud to announce the addition of a Puritan model rifle chambered for the 7.62x39mm cartridge. This new rifle features all the upgrades found in the Puritan series. Features included are 4.5 pound single stage drop in trigger, nitride heat treated barrel and components, NP3 coated bolt carrier, anti-tilt buffer tube, 3 position adjustable short stroke gas piston system, roller cam pin and the patented E² extraction technology.

Slamming the 7.62x39mm cartridge into a lightweight AR platform has many advantages. Think about the weapons manipulation skills developed through years of owning the standard .223/5.56 AR… now those skills translate directly into a package that weighs the same but packs a significantly larger “punch”. How about ammunition price? Depending on location, 7.62×39 ammunition is roughly 40% cheaper then .223/5.56. More bang for your buck in 2 categories! Punch and price…what’s not to love? The kicker…the accuracy. With proper ammunition, rifle setup and shooter ability, this new rifle falls under the POF-USA 1 MOA or better guarantee. That’s right, a 762x39mm 1 MOA rifle!

Carbon Fiber Case On Kickstarter

March 23rd, 2015

Rob Clark is an old friend of mine who is also an avid climber and mountaineer. He has come up with a carbon fiber and aluminum container. Completely waterproof, and lightweight due to the materials, the Case can be used to store anything from a basic medical kit, survival gear, etc. But, it also happens to be a great crush proof storage for cigars. The final Case will be available in two sizes: long and short. Also, check out the Tactical Distributors jacket that Rob is wearing.

What Do We Have Here?

March 23rd, 2015

This photo was recently released by the Department of Defense. It looks like he’s wearing CADPAT but not sure why. Maybe he’s playing OPFOR or maybe he just wants some camouflage that actually works.

Kinetic Development Group – SAS-1

March 23rd, 2015

Just a few months ago, Kinetic Development Group launched its company here on Soldier Systems Daily, with the promise to bring solutions to the small arms market existing with high quality firearms. They started with the FN SCAR as many SCARs are deployed with our Special Operations Forces. They also recognize the 16S and 17S are increasingly popular with American shooters and law enforcement.

Their first products, the MREX (modular rail extensions) for the front end of the SCAR has been very popular. The KDG front and rear sling points have also brought the SCAR into the year 2015 as far as QD sling solutions go. Well, they have just addressed another common complaint about SCAR. Some refer to it as the SCAR’s “UGG Boot” like stock system.

Kinetic #SAS-1

The KDG S.A.S (SCAR Adaptable Stock) is a serious improvement on the SCAR OEM stock system.

KDG

Form…. Why is this solution a near perfect marriage of a very well designed and reliable rifle and the excellent ergonomics of the Magpul ACR stock? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to compare the two stocks and decided which is more robust. MagPul is famous for their reinforced polymers and most would argue nobody can beat them at their game. There are many empirical reports from the field complaining about broken SCAR stocks. To add to that strength is the KDG SAS coupling that is made of 6061 T6 aluminum billet that is black hard coat anodized. That not only reinforces the stock, but also the open rear end of the SCAR’s thin extruded U-shaped receiver. And to top it off, the KDG SAS assembled stock system weighs approx. ¼ pound less than the all polymer factory SCAR stock assembly!

KDG

Fit & Function… All SAS kits come standard with 7 positions of length adjustment, cheek weld height adjustment, an AMBI QD sling attachment point, a weatherproof battery compartment, and a side-folding feature. Like the factory stock, the weapon can be fired with the stock folded. KDG also added an optional set-screw to allow users the option to eliminate any play between the stock and receiver.

KDG

Aesthetics – Lets just say something about aesthetics here. The OEM SCAR stock appears to have been designed by the Zohan and is really pretty disco-disco compared to American tastes. So many people have told me they just can’t get over the Cosmonaut Boot. The KDG SAS stock gives your SCAR some American muscle car appeal that chicks dig.

KDG

We saved the best for last. The stock and adapter comes fully assembled from KDG. There are no tools required to install on your SCAR! The whole system retails for $299.00 and can be purchased at www.kineticdg.com or a dealer listed near you found on their website. www.kinetidg.com/dealers
