Haley Strategic – FlatPack
May 22nd, 2015I made a quick visit to HSP’s batcave in the Phoenix area last fall. Travis Haley showed me a bunch of cool projects including prototypes of the new FlatPack. I am very happy to see it make it to market.
The D3 FlatPack is a pack designed with a unique expandable gusset system, which allows it to go from an almost flat profile to 600 cubic inches when completely expanded.
In the compressed state, the FlatPack has storage room in the main compartment for a 1 liter hydration bladder, and small items such as batteries, energy gels, and chem lights in the dedicated admin chamber. When expanded, the main compartment can fit a fully-loaded D3CR, helmet, or jacket, and the admin chamber can fit electronics and/or small binoculars.
The FlatPack fully integrates with a D3CR or D3CR-H, with the pack straps replacing the H-harness. This combination results in a light recon, patrol, or EDC/Worst Case Scenario rig. The FlatPack is also compatible with any PALS-based system including plate carriers, assault vests or other packs with external PALS webbing.
Designed with the SOF end user in mind, the FlatPack is also great as a compact carry bag for civilians. The padded inner chhamber comfortably and safely stores consumer electronics including common tablet computers and laptops up to 8″ x 12″, and can also accommodate items such as books and digital cameras.

SOFIC 2015 – Petzl Jag System
May 21st, 2015Petzl’s new Jag System is a prebuilt 4 to 1 mechanical advantage system. Bothe ends feature double pulleys and one end it has a built-in progress capture or ratchet. Additionally, the rope is contained in a sock so it won’t tangle.
SOFIC 2015 – Core Survival JPL
May 21st, 2015The Portable Jump Light (JPL) from Core Survival is designed for temporary install in nonstandard aircraft to support airborne operations.
There are two modules; the Control Module is mounted in the cockpit so the pilot can remotely command (via RF) the Light Module at the jump door to transition from Red to Green.
SOFIC 2015 – McNett Tactical’s Tenacious Tape – Reflective Fabric Tape

McNett Tactical’s new Tenacious Tape – Reflextive Fabric Tape is great for adding reflective strips to your clothing and gear. It can also can be die cut into different shapes as well as laser engraved as seen here. Tenacious is a great name for this tape as once you stick it on something, it’s not coming off.
SOFIC 2015 – AirBoss Defense Extreme Cold Weather Mukluk

The current U.S. Issue Vapor Barrier Boot is very labor intensive to produce and can currently only be made by a single factory in Canada. It so happens that the firm that can produce the VB boot, AirBoss Defense, also makes the Candian Forces Extreme Cold Weather Mukluk. This Mukluk protects the feet to the same temperature as the VB Boot (0 to -55 Deg C) is lighter weight, features a removable liner and insoles and is also taller.
