Maker Monday – WeaponLink from S&S Precision

November 10th, 2014

So far in this series we’ve seen several new items from S&S Precision. They’ve also updated exiting products but the one that has received the biggest makeover is the WeaponLink. The application remains the same. It’s optimized for keeping your weapon out of the way for hands free work such as climbing, swimming or detaining personnel.

Weapon Link GRT

Interestingly enough, this is a bit of a “back to the future” moment as early iterations of the WeaponLink were closer to this style. It still consists of two components but the new version of the WeaponLink has been consolidated into a modular design eliminating the old, type-specific variations (MOLLE or Belt) utilizing third-party components and now attaches utilizing the SSP Gear Retention Track (GRT).

Weapon Link with GRT Belt Adapter

New features include:
·Zero weapon rotation
·Rigid and vertically stable weapon orientation
·Gear Retention Track modularity
·Snag-Free Design
·Broad Receiver Opening for faster placement
·Lower angled engagement surfaces for intuitive tracking
·Lower Profile Picatinny Rail Grabber with single bolt clamping
·Enhanced Rail Grabber profile for hand positioning/stop along the rail system
·Spring ball material is a wear-resistant plastic reducing material stress over time and reduced audible snap

SureFire Ryder .22 Awarded Suppressor Of The Year By Guns & Ammo Magazine

November 10th, 2014

It’s been announced that Guns & Ammo Magazine has awarded the SureFire Ryder .22 their Suppressor of the Year award. Congrats to SureFire for the award! The full release can be read below:

Suppressor of the Year

Fountain Valley, CA — SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of high performance illumination tools, suppressors and tactical products, has been awarded the first ever suppressor of the year award for the Ryder .22 from Guns & Ammo magazine.

“Suppressor use is quickly gaining wider acceptance for its inherent safety benefits and the joy it brings to people who use them,” said Eric Poole, Guns & Ammo Editor. “Combine a new lightweight suppressor design optimized for America’s favorite rimfire and you have Guns & Ammo’s top pick.”

The .22 Ryder features a unique pig-nosed baffle design that provides superior sound attenuation while still making it easy to service. Each baffle is Red Mil-Spec hard anodized to minimize finish erosion and makes carbon buildup easier to spot when cleaning. Built-in spacers also help reduce carbon buildup between the suppressor tube and baffle stack, and each baffle is numbered and indexed to make re-assembly effortless. An assembly/disassembly tool is included with every suppressor.

The ultra lightweight Ryder comes in at a mere 3.1 ounces due to its fluted body design and rounded edges. A stainless steel threaded interface ensures the Ryder removes as a single unit, and its single–point cut ½ x 28 threads provide a secure attachment to any .22 pistol or rifle with a ½ x 28 thread pitch. At only 5.4 inches in length, and 1 inch in diameter, the SF Ryder .22 will not weigh down or obstruct your sight picture.

The SF Ryder 22-A comes with an assembly/disassembly tool, and suppressor pouch. MSRP is $429 and is available for purchase through authorized SureFire Suppressor dealers. For complete product information visit www.surefire.com/ryder22.

RMJ Tactical Purchases New Equipment, Expands Office And Factory Space

November 9th, 2014

RMJ Tactical has recent announced an expansion of their office and factor space, accompanying the purchase of a new manual lathe and mill. The full release can be read below:

Chattanooga, TN (PRWEB) November 05, 2014

RMJ Tactical recently expanded their existing building to include additional office and factory space. This expansion project has doubled the size of their production space, which in turn will expedite production operations, allowing them to manufacture tactical tomahawks more efficiently. New support equipment, a manual lathe and mill, was purchased in September for the expanded production space.

Office and shop equipment was moved in small stages beginning on October 20. RMJ Tactical is eager to complete the set up and reorganization of the new space over the course of the next two weeks.

“Setting up the new shop has taken us out of production for about three weeks, but with the new space our production lines are much more clean and much more efficient. We anticipate that this will increase our efficiency and let us produce higher quality and higher numbers,” says Richard Carmack, Chief Operations Officer.

RMJ Tactical’s original space was approximately 1,800 square feet, with nearly 1,500 square feet dedicated to production and the remainder as office space. The new expansion project has created an additional 600 more square feet of office space, and nearly 2,000 more square feet of shop floor. The shop floor now has a designated heavy machine area where the new equipment is located, as well as a finishing area.

According to Carmack, expansion of the shop floor was done in an effort to expand RMJ Tactical’s services and further streamline their production processes for all of their products. RMJ Tactical sells their products both nationally and internationally, with customers hailing from as far as South Korea. “We ship to 22 countries around the world,” Carmack states.

During the reorganization phase of the expansion project, RMJ Tactical allows visitors to view the new space on Thursday afternoons.

“We love it when people come in and see us working in the shop. The move has put a halt on visiting and tour days, but we’re hoping to bring this back sometime mid November,” says Carmack.

DEFCON_GROUP_VANS_SYN_-3

On the official Vans Syndicate blog, Vans has released a history of the DEFCON brand. DEFCON is a frequent collaborator with Vans Syndicate. They started their camouflage shoes packs in the mid 2000s and were the first in footwear to work with Crye Precision directly for a MultiCam shoe. We’ve covered their AOR-inspired camouflage shoes in the past. Check out the post through the link below. It’s a pretty good read, and you get to see a few images of their releases through the years.

Also, from what we’ve heard, there’s a brand-new limited edition shoe coming out under the DEFCON line. What could it possibly be? Stay tuned for further details!
